anyway if you dont mind, im gonna reply to myself to something i realized a while ago, somewhat pertinent to jsab and comic artists
(rant warning)
its kind of amazing too see people take something and reimagine it as their own. it takes a certain kind of originality to parody without stealing. characters are fleshed out, given personalities, and new depths are given to an otherwise simple story. there’s lore, rules to the world, locations and reoccurring characters. so many tales lack the infliction of drama of all kinds.
yet, many rare gems go unnoticed and unseen, never breaking through to the eyes of an audience. it takes big people to pull something up from below all the clutter you find in “new” and make it relevant in the eyes of the public. in fact, so many people’s original creations are never even looked at just because no one is there to push it up. a lot of the time, it’s because there’s so much low-quality content drowning out the deep worlds, that you just cant find it.
millions of views on a 7 second video, and 2 on something huge for the op, years of effort overlooked. why even bother creating, then? the artist works hard, and the viewers are simply watching. what happens when that toil doesnt pay off? it can demotivate someone so much, that the creator might retire from, well, creating.
i want to congratulate afrothunder and poketom on gaining an audience, on knowing they have a reliable viewership, on enjoying the fruits of their labor. im glad they have what they have.
and id like to end this realization, with a bit of advice: pay attention to the stories you hear. especially those of high quality. listen to them, support the creator. fan art, a single paragraph of writing for their character, interest in the person’s lore- it really can mean the world to someone. be the special person to the creators with no name. you are their audience. you are their support. you are their critic. be a friend to them. you dont know them. that doesnt matter. positive reinforcement will yield rewards for both parties.
so if anyone is reading this? i have an offer for you. share your JS&B stories with me. i’ll draw everyone’s world in one canvas. one big family photo of the nameless, the faceless, the nobodies, the lost. did your JS&B story die in new? let me draw them for you. id love to show these ocs some MAD appreciation. remember creators, you and your effort is worth it.
