My Dad detested what McGovern did. I once asked Dad "What did McGovern do that was so terrible besides dump Eagleton?" Dad replied "What did Nixon do that was so terrible besides try to cover up the Watergate break-in?"
Furthermore, Dad would never consider McGovern the lesser of two evils. If there was an election between Agnew and McGovern, Dad would vote for Agnew.
