To hear this live is one of the most musically moving experiences I have ever had...
You need to check out Their DVD Dream Theater Live At Luna Park! It's gonna literally amaze you. You'll feel same way especially during Portnoy and Rudess solos
@@jasonhutcherson6224 I have . I was referring to watching them live in Feb as part of the latest north America tour :)
I've seen them live for five times by now, the last time at the end of May and they were playing The Count of Tuscany, too. Just what I was hoping to hear. They never fail to amaze me. And this, for me, is their most epic song, if not the most epic of all.
I treated myself with their concert in Zagreb for my birthday and when they played it as an encore, I felt like it was for me. I actually didn't expect them to play it, because they rarely play it live, so it was a special treat.
@@fifi23o5 I was at Zagreb too! This song made me cry multiple times in my life, but hearing it live for the first time was so emotional for me
5:15 'A la Keith Emerson
One of the best endings in music history.
In the name of god live ending is better
Each individual of this band is godlike playing their instruments. DT musically is in different level.
DREAM THEATER to me is the greatest band in the world . I LOVE YOU GUYS 💖
I won't lie - I was very emotional throughout the entire song. This has to go down as one of the greatest songs in the history of music. What a journey that was. Thank you for sharing yourselves with us. Love from Massachusetts.
I love how James narrates the different characters not just in this song but in Metropolis Part 2 and The Astonishing and other songs as well.
And sounding so good!
The Astonishing was a severely underrated task for James.
My all-time favorite song, EVER!!
Comfortably my favourite song ever also, completely beautiful, almost overwhelmingly so.
I love how Suzi feels the music - she’s perfect for reaction music videos
The best band the world
Thank you for such great Dream Theater reactions. It's always a pleasure sharing a little 20 min song. Peace.
I know these guys have practiced to get this good so not taking away from their hard work but some of this is God given talent! Not to mention all these amazing people having to come together to form this band.
I’m so blown away right now. This is why they on my favorite band. Normally I can tell right off the bat when it’s live versus recording but I can barely tell even when James started singing which is incredible
This isn't just a song, it's a masterpiece. Great reaction! 🤘
"John Petrucci doesn't play with emotion though!" 😂😂
He’s too busy being a guitar god I guess 🤷🏻♂️ he makes it look so easy
@@CoffeeMatt10 he is literally the world's greatest. There is nothing he cannot do.
@@CoffeeMatt10 alot of folks don't pick up on sarcasm....found another
The best song, next octavarium 🤟
This is a masterpiece of masterpieces!!
I LOVE THIS SONG, THE CRESCENDO IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
My all time fav DT masterpiece, and that's saying a lot!!
The exact music I want to hear when entering heaven.
What I love about this band is that they can change the mood and beat in a super smooth way, it just fits so well! I would also recommend listening to their album “a dramatic turn of events”
Dream Theater just won a Grammy for their song, “The Alien “ . Do listen.
True. And while I love that they are finally being recognized, The Alien doesn't even break my top 30 or 40 songs by them whereas the Count is definitely in my top 15ish.
The Alien is a joke compared to what they delivered before 2009.
@@theeuropeanlegacy5075 It depends. the Alien is better than wither, A rite of passage, and prophets of war
@@Moskal91 I found those 3 songs are way better than Alien. Specifically a rite of passage. Classical at its best.
@@theeuropeanlegacy5075 All of those 3 sound some of the worst things DT has ever released. 💀
Who says killer guitar work ended in the 90's? DT just got going! For all aspiring musicians...
It's got to be the musical equivalent of an orgasm. These guys are stupendously brilliant live and if you haven't seen them you really cant know just how incredible they truly are.
I was at that concert. It was the High Voltage festival in London [2nd Day]. I have some great photos of Dream Theater and the other great bands that played over the two days - Judas Priest, Jethro Tull, Caravan, The Michael Schenker Group, Slash & Miles Kennedy, Queensryche and so on and so on.
James was on point that night, back in the better days for him
I`ve seen these guys live several times and it`s like, damb! How do they do this so well live? They are so well rehearsed and so perfect at all times. This would be a fun band to be in but the perfection comes from the inhuman brains of these masters.
Love this song
This song make me cry 😭
And this tour that just finished in the US, they played this!! Worth the price of admission For Sure!
That tour is coming to the UK this week, I’m guessing it will be the same set list (maybe one swap out), so I’m looking forward to this.
Next dream theater nightmare to remember
EPIC EPIC EPIC
OMG
MASTERPIECE!!!!! 🎼✌️🇨🇭 Dieser Song ist
einer der besten den
ich je gehört habe!!
In den Top 10 ever
Danke Jungs ihr seit

DREAM THEATER 🎸
There are moments when listening to music that you realize you are hearing not just something great, but something important. This piece is perhaps the most important there is.
Agreed. It doesn't get any better. What an emotional roller coaster this was.
Leave it to Dream Theater to throw some Brahms into their musical interlude.
Amazing reaction!!! Thank you guys!!
Band of Masters in their instruments and the whole genre!
John has the ultimate guitar rig. You have to spend alot of money to get that kind of sound and tone control. All of these guys are top of the game!!
Guys, you are made of pure iron... I would have been lying on the floor drowning in tears before I finished this piece if it had been my first time.
This is one of my Top 5 in my DT list! Nice reaction video!
They’ve got to be aliens 👽
You guys really need to listen to the sing The Alien. They one their first Grammy for this song.
Seen them twice live and it's amazing.
A little nod to Rush @5:06, nice!
music simply doesn't get any better than this, best song ever made! How this song hit's me every single time
My favorite song!!!!😍
They visited and had a concert here in Manila last May of 2023. I'm planning to buy tickets, they're my Favorite Band and this is my favorite song.
Little did I know, my Girlfriend bought tickets as a gift for my birthday, and when this song played, I literally cried the whole time.
I know nothing about and have heard nothing by this band. Exploring music together with you guys. Are we not brave?
Love your DT reactions
A lot of people don't appreciate his vocals.
This performance was good from him, especially the narration. He was a bit off at the higher parts but it didn't ruin the performance especially since this was at the end of the set.
When I saw DT live, he had little left of his voice from the beginning of the show as it was in the middle of the tour. You could hear the strain in his voice even in lower parts, and he had to avoid high notes all the time since it wouldn't go well. That was a difficult show.
He has had some troubles because of the food poisoning when the doctor said he shouldn't sing, but I think they were in middle of tour and he didn't want to stop the tour. I think he said that he was coughing blood at some point too. He talked about this in interview with Elizabeth Zharoff and it was quite hard time for him. Elizabeth is a vocal coach and opera singer and the interview is in her channel The Charismatic Voice. James may have troubles reaching some of the high notes that he didn't have problem hitting in their earlier records, but I can't imagine DT with any other singer. It's not only about what notes you can hit, but color of his voice.
He's a master, just older now and burnt his voice more and more but still has good nights and good recording abilities
Petrucci goes god mode in his solo
Love you guy’s!!
14:17 Petrucci, Myung and Portnoy met at Berkeley College of Music, which is considered upper echelon elite, and they dropped out to make music!
Along the way they have picked up some very talented musicians who have also studied at top tier music academies. So I guess the answer is: yes they are masters.
Berklee*
Best band, ever.
Saw them live in Los Angeles !
Masters!
Waiting to hear The Wolf Hunterz first epic...
This is what genius looks like. Dream Theater is a whole new level of musical prowess. If you like this, check out ARCH ECHO doing their musical madness playing any of their songs. They have some videos out. They are masters of the craft every bit as technical as Dream Theater. Love your reactions i am a loyal fan of your channel.
❤️❤️❤️ epic
The Kings of prog metal. They are untouchable musical genius.
The best..
Actually they can and do do it on the fly During Their actual solos. Not during songs. They have those memorized and just 2nd nature to them. But during let's Say Jordan Rudess piano solo he needs drums and a small backing guitar piece. They make that up to go with whatever Jordan is playing. Same with John Petrucci solo if he needs or wants drums and or keyboard they improv it to fit what he's playing.
Watch / listen too Dream Theater’s - Metropolis Part II: Scenes From A Memory (album it’s in entirety) - absolute masterpiece
Let me please explain, thats not how it is, you must be confuse, its not isn't who i am, ... You can listen this forever1!!! Here we go!!!
Please, Octavarium is next. Kisses from Brazil
Yes, Live from Score!
yes
I got into them back during 1992 images and words been extreme fan since met them 2 times are best no one else comes close it has taken the deaf uneducated rest of world 30 years to catch up with what I've known 3 decades way to go winning Grammy about damn time
Dream theater another won live 2006!!!!
Wow man thats very awesome live too man 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 especially at score new york ❤
Lyrics are in portuguese lol. Nice video guys, DT is awesome
Inspired from a real count/earl of Tuscany, Italy. Two brothers, whom they met there.
Épico!!!!
3/4....u must know....just go in on your deep heart...dream teather....soul...
Buona Pasqua Ragazzi
It's awesome to get other Badass Musicians take on Dream Theater. And yes They are literally all Professors of their Instrument. At least LaBrie Singer, Rudess Pianist, Petrucci Guitarist, Myung Bassist All graduated with Honors from Berkley School of Music. And to Vilphy P.B comment just got A LONG Overdue grammy!!!! For The Alien.
I share your enthusiasm re Dream Theater and all the members but you got their musical education wrong. John P. and John M. grew up together and jointly went to Berklee, Boston (not Berkley, California) where they met Mike P. After a year they left without graduating to form Majesty/Dream Theater. Jordan was at Juilliard, NY and left before graduating. And Mike M studied privately at the public school at Waltham/MA, he was a faculty member at Berklee for a couple of years before joining Dream Theater. I recommend the band's official biography (Lifting Shadows by Rich Wilson).
Too much awesomeness..
Dream came true finally .Mike Portnoy is back to DT
I am waiting for many years Dream Theater This Dying Soul and In the Name Of God Live Please,,
This Title reminds me of something... Ciao GuyZ !!
14:11 there's a Johngasm
or Orgasmtrucci (?
Collectively, they have over
100 years of playing ability
Between them at any time…
Una verdadera big band!. Su único punto negativo es le brie.
John Petrucci... enough said!
Miss eric more req dream theater 😢😂
John Petrucci = guitar god / out of this world
Why doesn't no one tell you to do CHANGE OF SEASONS..one of their best and diverse songs. Or atleast metropolis
JUNNA latest video drum cover PAIN KILLER (Judas Priest) 🤘
In the name of god live plz
It is the best of the best of DT
And some soul-blinded people call them Cheese Theater... For god sake!!!
To the girl…….your teeth of perfect!
Wtf this fan cam 😂
Apologies bootleg video over dubbed with lost not forgotten tapes
If you like a long intro and, like me, are getting more than a little fed up with James's voice (especially in a live setting), how about giving The Walls Of Babylon by Symphony X a spin?
3+ minutes of intro and a singer that eats James as a quick snack between meals AND musicians that are just as good as these guys🤘
DT should get a female vocalist.
Who ever call this 'Metal' is so wrong, this is Prog Rock at the best level.
Dream Theater are demigods
Yeah more prog rock
It's a fake video the audio is clearly studio release
The studio version with Mike Portnoy on drums is better. Portnoy wrote the drum part and it’s one of his best and most dynamic in my opinion. I like Mangini but portnoy plays with more feel.
The lyrics for this song are a bit silly though. Sorry if I offend anyone but come on…..
That is such a load of crap. How can you play the drums with feeling?
It’s absolutely not a load of crap. Every instrument including drums can sound different when playing the same parts. Dynamics and phrasing like softer or harder hits. Accents and grooves and overall style can bring feel to playing over being a drum machine. Mangini is a great drummer but his focus is on speed and replicating the notes of older songs rather than being his style. So sorry…but feel exists. Go watch Gavin Harrison and you’ll understand.
@@mpkelley20 So go ahead and try and tell me that the new album is not fantastic and the Mangini was a beast on it
Thankfully I can say that the new album is not even in my top 5 DT albums. Yes, Mangini is a beast. I have not said anything bad about him. I just prefer portnoy’s style. And the new album, to me; is just a modern day rehash of their older sounds. It does not push them forward but rather pushes them back. I loved dramatic turn of events and DT albums with Mangini. So don’t think I hate everything post portnoy. Unfortunately They lost me with the astonishing. Sorry. My opinion.
@@mpkelley20 I'd suggest you watch the videos of the drummer auditions to replace Portnoy. The band were looking for someone who would play their old songs the way fans knew rather than adding their own style to them.
This is not my type on music sorry
Would be more interesting,if Mike Portnoy was playing Drum
Portnoy is back with DT
