This movie was not supposed to be The Godfather- It is a comedy and one of the best - The acting alone rivals any movie - Just watch it for what it is and enjoy

Prizzi's Honor paved the way to ''Sopranos'' and other mafia comedies/half comedies/whatever. Respect for that, this movie has aged very well and is underrated and recommended to every movie fan. Super cast, Nicholson at his peak etc.etc.
Movies and TV series about the Mafia have tended to be some of America's best. The _Sopranos_ was so realistic that real Mafia families thought there must be an insider feeding the producers information. That and how complex, how human, the characters were. You don't just see them when they're whacking rivals. The series gets inside their heads, explores their lives, shows their tenderness as well as their ruthlessness.

"Prizzi's Honor" was--and remains--a crude cartoon, just like "Sopranos." Actors are playing stereotypes, not flesh-and-blood characters. Wake up!!
