    • @joshallensarm
      @joshallensarm 2 роки тому +8

      @@tennisone6376 What a stupid thing to say. That's how everyone wins in table tennis. Fan Zhendong is not going to win a game where his opponent makes zero errors. The whole point of the game is to hit a shot that your opponent struggles to return, doesn't matter if you do it with backspin or topspin.

    • @tuowang3405
      @tuowang3405 2 роки тому +1

      @@joshallensarm Jeremy was not wrong. At the high level, the possibility of attacking players winning the points is much higher than them making mistakes.
      Defending style was dominate during the early age of table tennis(before 1970s), then lose their momentum gradually. Right now there is no good defending player playing at the high level.

    • @tuowang3405
      @tuowang3405 2 роки тому

      @@joshallensarm The philosophy of the game has been changed. It is up-spin winning the game now. Bottom spin is more about controlling your opponent and setup for yourself to attack

    • @CertifriedRatBastrad
      @CertifriedRatBastrad 5 місяців тому

      @@joshallensarm this game isnt about who makes more mistakes but who is able to strategize well enough to cause your opponent to perform unforced errors.
      you should never make plays expecting your opponent to make a mistake, otherwise you would resort to lobbing the ball and praying that the enemy dislocates their shoulder trying to reach the ball.
      by backspinning or chopping you forgo your autonomy over the game. topspin creates pinches that force your opponent into a position that you may be able to develop a lead with.
      for example attacking deep into the backhand could force your opponent into:
      1) a blocking position with which they have no autonomy over YOUR plays, letting you play whatever shots you want and eventually pushing them away far enough from the table to get them to lob as theyre trying to find an opportunity for a counterattack (disadvantageous position)
      or 2) sidestepping deep with the intention to counterattack with their forehand. even if they DO manage to pull it off, a simple block deep into their forehand side may literally be impossible to receive in some scenarios considering the distance/speed of the ball relative to opponents position.
      if you want more tips relating to game theory just look them up on the internet before embarrassing yourself by showing how out of depth you are on this fundamental aspect of the game. absolute lobotomite.

      Was die wenigsten lernen und trainieren, wenn sie gegen einen Verteidiger spielen, ist Geduld.
      Also keine Sorge.
      Die meisten wollen den Punkt schnell beenden und werden genervt, wenn sie nicht durch die Verteidigung durchkommen, machen dann Fehler und gehen ein größeres Risiko ein, was aber auch mehr Können vom Angreifer erfordert und das fehlt dann doch vielen.

Also den inneren Schweinehund und die Angst vor Abwehr überwinden und immer schön Deine Tipps umsetzen. Dann wird das schon. ;-) Vielen Dank, Timo. Bleib gesund. Ich werde dieses Video einigen Vereinskollegen zukommen lassen, die schon verloren haben, bevor sie überhaupt an den Tisch gehen, weil sie sich zu viele Gedanken über den Gegner machen und dadurch nicht befreit aufspielen können. Mit Angst an die Begegnung gehen, ist sicherlich der falsche Weg. Respekt, ja. Angst, definitiv nein. Meine Meinung. ;-)

It's not like this video discourages defensive play, or implies that it's a futile playing style. The fact that people struggle against good defenders is why the video was made in the first place.
