i think it's also helpful to mention for new or prospective drivers: 1. it's twist and go, no gears, no shifting, etc. power output is also strong enough to take you anywhere and keep up with the urban traffic but also weak enough not to startle new drivers. 2. if you've ever driven a bicycle, you can drive this thing. it feels a lot like a powered bicycle, only you're sitting on a chair (and feels far sturdier). 3. engine is time tested and proven technology, parts are relatively cheap, and so servicing is much cheaper compared to a car. 4. rain pants DO fit well under the seat, removing the fear of being wet. these can also double as a windbreak in cold weather.
Shouldn't be that hard tbh. The two white front panels are easy to remove (look for the video of me putting LED lights in it to see how to remove them). Mudflap on the front might require removing the wheel. Two rear side panels will probably be tricky to get off I imagine.
A really stupid question but how the hell do you unlock the under-seat storage? Bought one of these second hand and I can't figure it out? I know you need to use the normal key in the ignition somehow
Yep just put the key in and turn it to the left without pushing it in. Pushing it in with the steering turned to the left and turning the key locks the steering and turning to the right without pushing the key in turns it on. So yeah turn left without pushing key in
Yeah I rode it while that cyclone came through wgtn a few months ago and it was fine. It's a light scooter but very stable at high speed, so yeah I probably would, I'd just ride on the hard shoulder tho haha
That's a bad azz little cycle. I had a 2007 DRZ 400 S and it was a bad bike as well. I knew it was a 4 stroke butt up till then I didn't realize that they 2 strikes were just about a thing of the past. But it was strange going from when I was a kid on those old 2 strokes. The way they would wind up and go off the line.. Was strange the way the 4 stroke kind of even seemed to bog out but I would look behind me and it was tearing things up. Anyway, I'm interested in these little bikes cuz I live in Cali and the weather is nice all the time. So that's 80mpg. That's crazy.
Apparently it is the most fuel efficient/economical scooter on the market with it being 4 stroke and fuel injected. Also very reliable. Catch with them as mentioned is they don't do well with hills due to being 4 stroke. But if hills arn't much of an issue then this would be up around the top of the list of scooters to purchase in NZ for the power range. For a more hill suitable 50cc the Piaggio is meant to be the one to go for.
Hey mate, you wouldn't happen to know how to replace a piston ring or a valve seal? My UZ has been burning through oil like no tomorrow. So I've done a bit of searching and these two things seem to be the most common problems (Note: no oil is leaking, so I assume it's burning). I'm pretty keen to learn to do it myself, but I don't have an owners manual, so not too sure where to start.
Uh haha yeah I have I live in NZ where every car's fuel economy is measured in that value. Sorry I wasn't sure what you were trying to say in your first comment it wasn't the most descriptive haha
This was a very helpful video for a fellow wellingtonian like me
Good to hear!

Yeah some good points here. I covered a lot of these in my video on how to ride a scooter.
Can’t wait to get my new UZ50 moped in a few weeks next year!
Nice man! You’ll love it
Thank you so much for sharing your opinion on the Suzuki uz50
No prob!
Agree with your fuel mileage estimate - did a 90 km run and it still has over half a tank left.
Yep
Love your work
Thanks mate
Please do a service video on Suzuki uz50, oil change and other things
Can't sorry I sold this scooter 3 years ago
How easy do you think it would be to repaint one of these to a different colour? Would you have to somehow remove the panels to paint them?
Shouldn't be that hard tbh. The two white front panels are easy to remove (look for the video of me putting LED lights in it to see how to remove them). Mudflap on the front might require removing the wheel. Two rear side panels will probably be tricky to get off I imagine.

Hello i know this video was made so long ago but i have a question can you place a second back seat on this kind of scooters ?
Not a second seat no, but I have taken a passenger once or twice before and it can do it, just quite cozy back there
Hello I was just wondering if the 2014 suzuki uz50 lets4 is a good moped to start of on.?
I'd say any 50cc scooter is good to start on. Advantage with Suzuki is it will be reliabls
I love Yamaha-never had a Suzuki, but I'm willing to give them a chance.
I was happy enough with mine
Took mine on some very hilly Wairarapa roads a few days back and it did 40 km/h up every hill.
Nice
Hi! I am planning to buy my friend's uz50. Is it possible to put a cellphone mount to suzuki lets uz50?
Thank you. 🙏😇
Maybe with a suction mount unlikely with a handlebar mount as it's all enclosed with plastic. Isn't it illegal to use a phone while riding though?
@@KiwiCarLife for navigation purpose and for uber eats . . .
Thank you
@@junmapa ahh yep, yeah try find a suction mount one or something should be good
I've bought a same one few days ago, seems has more vibration while idling, no idea whether it's normal😂
It's a single cyl. Gonna be rattling haha
How does it go in the in strong cross/head winds? Would you take it on the motorway in from Petone to Wellington or is that too much to ask?
Yeah I rode it while that cyclone came through wgtn a few months ago and it was fine. It's a light scooter but very stable at high speed, so yeah I probably would, I'd just ride on the hard shoulder tho haha
Thanks mate
I thought it was illegal to take a 50cc moped on the motorway?
hey mate, are you still survive with 50cc scooter. I am trying to buy one for fun. I think this is the only scooter that made in Japan.
Hey man nah I sold it 5 years ago sorry
i live in auckland were there a lots of ups and downs. will it be good for that?
Yeah it'll be fine I'm in Wellington it's really hilly here too
just got one!! i have two questions
how exactly do i open the underseat storage? and how much would the gas cost to get full tank?
10 bucks to fill the tank
twist the key to the left to open the storage, dunno if you’ve already figured it out
getting it for 1699 and 20000 km on odo. is it good?
Sounds alright
With fuel prices going they way they are I might need to get one of these bad boys to get to work on! 😂
Haha good idea!
I GOT 1 FOR SALE BRO CHUR
do you know what oil you are suppose to use?
10W30 or similar should be fine. They don't really care what oil (within reason)
@@KiwiCarLife 10w 40.
@@KiwiCarLife would 10w 40 work?
@@macklogan4404 yeah that'll be fine

This video is fire.

im a 6ft tall person, can i fit on this?
Yep, I'm 6ft 1
How did you get it up too 70 kph? Any mods?
Nah all stock
nice dirt bike, good for drifting in tokyo
Yeah lol
Do you think its big enough to carry 1 passenger?
Yeah maybe if they're quite light
do they max out around 70kph on the flat? dayum thats pretty good for a 50
I've discovered there is actually a limiter that cuts in at just over 60km/h so not quite 70 lol
KiwiCarLife do you know how to disable that speed limiter? Because i have the same one....
No unfortunately I haven't tried, I can look into it though
KiwiCarLife - you mention its not great on hills, but how much do you weigh? Makes a big difference for a little 70kg bike
I'm like 70kg
How much Petrol would it Cost roughly for a Full Tank
In this day and age probably $15. It was only about 8 or 9 when I had it
How much price please?
2500
@@KiwiCarLife its expensive i m bought zipp top rs under 1k euro
Is there a weight limit to this scooter? (Im 80kgs)
So am I so you'll be fine
@@KiwiCarLife cheers
Is it anywhere close to the quality of the Yamaha Jog?
I haven't tried one sorry you'll have to find out for yourself :)

just wondering, do you need a motorcycle licence to ride scooter in new zealand?
No just a learner car licence

Possibly not a measurement used where you are which is understandable haha. It's essentially the inverse of km/l used for measuring fuel economy.
