    For the dumbbell overhead presses, doing them standing with a clean is where the fat gripz shine IMO. Also, as a person with wrist issues and elbow tendinitis, the fat gripz help due to the extra surface area. Solid video!

    I started using these mid-size gripz about 14 months into my natty training (bicep exercises only). My forearms have grown at the same rate as my upper arm, which when you think about the potential for growth in each is pretty amazing! Pulling sets of 270lbs 25 rep shrugs with no straps and no grip issues at all!

  • @Zondu

    I really appreciate you giving this a try. Maybe I had more noticeable gains as I used them for my deadlifting and my powerlifting movements. I definitely had to lower the weight, but after the second and third week the progress really stacked up.
    I enjoy them for pushing movements, though getting them right in the hand can be a bit awkward. For bicep curls there's no comparison, you can take the same weight and take the grips off for a drop set. I used them for my tricep pushdowns, OHP, row variations, on the machines, on my cables.
    Forearms are one of the most neurologically dependent muscle groups, and a great way to test your neuro system in the morning is with a dead hang. Actually "growing" them is fairly difficult, as you'll typically burn out mentally before actually stressing your forearm muscles.

      I have done something similar in the past but they are not the same by far, if you ever see someone using fat grips, ask if you can try them and you will see, they don't compress at all while pool noodles do, the only grip that is better than an actual fat grip is an axle bar but that is harder to take to the gym :-p

      @@MrInzombia yeah they are definitely not the same but for me they work well. I like the fact they compress since they are much bigger than what fat grips are they need to compress some. I have the same blue fatgrips to train forearms at the gym. I get the best pump doing wrist curls & reverse wrist curls alternating them without much rest. I started with a 60 lbs bar & work down to a 30 lbs bar. Be sure to do clean reps & pause 1-2 secs flexed, that's what works for me. I also do 1/2 curls & reverse curls without going all the way to the bottom to keep tension. This will blowup your forearms. For grip strength I have bought grippers, fingerboard & allot of other stuff that helps, but hanging I think is good & one arm hangs are the best. The first time I tried to one arm hang I couldn't even grip the bar at all because my grip was so bad. After 2 years of training I could hang for over 1 minute for each arm. I now can one arm hang while holding an 80 lbs dumbbell in the other hand. My forearms are much larger than 2 years ago. I started training to try to beat the local 2 minute hang challenge that uses a large 2" diameter rotating bar. After failing the first time @ 1:15 & my forearms hurt for 2 days. It took 3 months of specific training to beat the hang challenge. I have now beat the hang challenge 10 times & my forearms never hurt anymore after training them so much. :)

The CoC1 is def the hardest one I have, the last 5-9mm are really tough, I can only do it with a dry hand with assistance from the left (the left hand helps getting it in position), it literally rips my skin away..even the letting it go part takes skill

      You'll build up calluses and it won't hurt anymore. I workout mainly with heavy kettlebells with some barbell thrown in for deadlifts, squats ect. And my fingers and palms have pads of calluses. And if you have these fat gripz, try doing deadlifts with them. That's really hard. Another thing that's great for grip strength is called "twist yo wrist" it looks like a big yoyo, you wrap the cord around a plate and then spool it up by twisting your hands. It works the muscles in a wierd way. I'm a mechanic and the increased ability to strongly manipulate objects in awkward positions is awesome. Oh and one more thing you can do with your CoC is hold them upside down and do reps that way. Works the muscles differently.

      @@Bloodbain88 thnx for the reply. I remember seeing this pro arm wrestler. He does those wrist exercises and it's probably the reason he's a pro. I just have to let my skin heal for a few days before I can do it again. I also tried measuring the amount of weight needed to close the coc1. Mine topped out at like 35kg (measured probably mostly from the tip), which ofc gives me a mechanical advantage but a good indication as I did the same with the other grippers. There's a huge difference in numbers. According to a grip meter I bought, I could do 75kg..according to that, the coc1 must be easy..it's not

    • @Bloodbain88
      @Bloodbain88 2 роки тому +1

      @@X41N3 The other thing to remember with grippers is that they are easier for people with really big hands. I have average size hands, they're just really wide, but short, and it took me much more work to be able to close the #2 than my friend who is a fcking giant. His hand swallows the grippers whole. He can put a fat grip on a bar and still wrap his fingers all the way around it, the same way I can a naked bar.

    • @X41N3
      @X41N3 2 роки тому +1

      @@Bloodbain88 same with a guy I met once. I only had my 45kg "gold gripper" on me and it was nothing for him. Most normal people already have an issue closing it completely, he was the only person that just did it the way I did it. His hands are however very big, they just freak you out the first couple of times you see it. I'm sure he can also do the coc1. Currently I'm the only super skinny guy I know who can do this, but I have to say it's 50% technique. Cause I can't force it closed without getting it just right. My waist for example is like 27", try finding a 28-36 sized pants haha

    • @Bloodbain88
      @Bloodbain88 2 роки тому +1

      @@X41N3 lol that just means you'll show muscle gains better! It's hard to be as strong or stronger than a really large man though. A guy I used to work with had never lifted a weight in his life, but could close my CoC 2.5 with ease. His nickname was Mongo (or sometimes "the ogre") He then said "can you do this?" And proceeded to pinch the terminal of a large truck battery between his thumb and pointer finger and lift it off the ground to chest high. The strength of just that pinch grip had to be crazy.

    COC can vary in strength by a lot I have a 2.5 with a RGC of 138. They have 1’s that are harder than 1.5’s and 2.5’s harder than 3’s. That’s one of the reasons why RGC was developed so all grippers can be ranked across the board. Love your videos

    If the bar you are putting it on is too narrow they will spin. To stop this you can have bits of material that you place on the bar to widen it's diameter. I have also used bicycle inner tube, cut lengthways it just snaps onto the bar, and I have used sponge material too. It usually just needs a very small increase.

    I have the CoC and Heavy Grip, there are some real differences both on their own and between them. I have a HG 250 that is easier then a 200. CoC seems to be harder, even if the weight is equal to a HG.

      Gains. On a serious note, you should always stretch your wrists thoroughly before doing exersice that require grip strength, so that you don't get carpal tunnel syndrome or something

    I use fat gripz when I do hammer curls and boy does it become not only a bicep workout, but now a forearm workout trying to hold it 😂 very effective

      I do hammer curls a lot. I gotta get some fat gripz for sure. I do lots of forearm and grip strength training. It's so addictive man. If you like that stuff order you some captains of crush grippers they are awesome.

    I honestly like to use a thicker pull up bar for workouts because I feel like I can engage more of muscles, I think those Fat GripZ don't seem to be as grippable as a thick pull up bar because they're cushiony. If you're really trying to improve your grip strength, I would suggest doing dead hangs every day for fun not necessarily to your max all the time, trying one arm dead hangs if you're feeling strong enough to the challenge, including isometrics in your training, parallel bar dip lock out hold, squeezing your fists and flexing all your muscles like Bruce Lee does in training in Return of the Dragon, because all of your muscles are connected like a chain. Handstands can also help your strengthen your wrists and fingers which can also help your grip hold. You mind even find some photos of Bruce Lee using a grip machine with loaded weight on it. And focusing on just your body while you work out, as in no music, no distractions, just your focus on your body so you can push yourself in a healthy way and level up your game. Grip strength is not that hard to attain, just takes some time and there's a lot of useful training. Your body functions well as a whole. At least what I have learned from my own experience.
