He was actually shooting the bell to make it rung
His aim was to hit the idol as a sign of disrespect, but instead it hits the bell. Ringing the bell is a sign of worship for hindus. This hints that although kanji is going against God, hes gonna come closer to Him in the process.@@mg9854

The fact that this movie is so loved in India is a reflection of how Indians feel about religion and spirituality. There's such a beautiful tolerance of diversity of prayer and a deeper love of the higher power, that even a movie that critiques is loved.
The tolerance seems to be decreasing these days...

my late father had loved this movie so much he used to quote akshay kumar's dialogues from this movie saying " even God says xyz etc" and i used to be like "papa, thats what akshay kumar says in a movie!!" . :D Om Shanti.

Fun fact: The god in India and in many other countries is an active participant and citizen of the said country. The most important citizens at that. Lord Rama was one of the parties in Ayodhya Mandir Land Claim case. In a nutshell Lord Rama fought his own case to reclaim his birthland in Ayodhya. The case came to close just recently.
The movie P.K. Was actually supposed to come out around the time of this film, but apparently the films were so similar that the writers of P.K. Had to rewrite certain parts

One of my fav movie.......and pk which is somewhat similar......intresting topics.........in both the movies two actors have given some very powerful dialogue.....in this its mIthun chakraborty ......in climax He says very powerful truth in one single sentence to paresh rawal and in pk saurabh shukla who poses a Very true question to aamir in the ending scenes...... good movies.

I love how this movie showed the tradition and culture of india.
Fun Fact - In the ram mandir case, 3 generations of god's next friends fought the case for around 70 years while representing the diety in the court.
This movie is the proof that you can have question about religion without hurting sentiments on the other side PK also tried to potray something lile this but in some parts they messed up a lot
only difference was one was portrayed by a hindu actor and other was Muslim actor, nothing else....if Akshay Kumar made PK, you guys woulda been drooling over it and wouldn't have hurted your own feelings...
The difference is that PK is very blunt with the religious dogmatism and it doesn't try to please any religion. On the other hand, OMG try not to hurt the religious sentiments of people.
Both the films are great though.

Dear Achara and Kristen,
There is truth to his argument about money and temples! And this has been going on for thousands of years. Because wealth or money is part of our hindu culture!! Unlike the churches or other religious bodies in the west or middle east, it is not considered a bad thing when a religious institution gathers money!! It's benefits are to be returned to people themselves and it hasn't affected us until the invasions happened. However, in India majority of temples are under government control after independence. other religious sites are not. SO it's not like all the money goes directly to temples in the end!! The makers themselves don't have much clue or are purposefully misrepresenting facts!!
In India, god is considered a living entity hence case can be filed against him and he can also be defended . Thats how Ayodhya case was fought.

The movie very carefully exposes the scams done in the name of orgaised religions but the at the same time endorses belief in supernatural supreme power so how a average human being can escape from scams and move towards science and rationality.
