    Fear of falling is very real, especially as we get older. That’s why my morning workout begins with yoga balance exercises, standing on one foot in various postures. Listening to you also reminds me of doing judo in college, where the first lesson was how to fall to avoid injury.

    Thank you! I developed a fear of falling years before my diagnosis. Seems like I was always tripping up stairs, over bumps, down a handicap ramp…I didn’t realize I was dragging my feet. As far as random balance issues, I “go spastic” for no apparent reason. That’s why I carry a cane every time I leave my home. Terrified of falling.

      Hi Karen, I have a cane as well that has a mobility device attached to it which helps me walk when I am OFF. Thanks for your comment.😁😊😀

    Everything sounds so familiar....
    Driving. I remember exactly the day that I decided to quit; I drove up to the toll both at the airport and I wasn't sure which way to turn the wheel to fit the car between the booths.
    For people getting dizzy when standing up, get some compression stockings so the blood can't rush and pool down in your calves as easily. Also see if you can find a couple of 'walkers' to put next to your chairs and you can use them as momentary support if the dizziness is strong.

    • @LifewithParkinsons
      @LifewithParkinsons  5 місяців тому

      Hi Edward, thanks for the great suggestions, the compression stockings are a fantastic idea. Sorry you had to give up driving, but I understand. I got tired of driving somewhere and then wondering where I was going lol.😁😊😀

    My husband’s balance issue…..at least for now…is attenuated by always drinking water with electrolytes….Keto Chow drops…Redmond salt…. Never just plain water. Even his coffee has a tiny pinch of Redmond salt in it.
