You need to make compost you let the cover crop grow and cut it in the first round and let it nourish back the soil then u reap it on the second growth

This is the second Jamaican that I find who understand some of the problems facing the Jamaican farmers. Jamaica fortunately, is blessed with fertile soils but ignorance has allowed much of the soils to degrade. Many farmers boast about growing plants organically, but they burn the abundance of vegetable matter before planting. in addition, they spray the weeds with gramozone/paraquat. The latter is a very toxic chemical which stays in the soil and cannot be beneficial to the organisms in the soil. Fortunately, the depleted soils can be rehabilitated. Even desert soils can be rehabilitated. It just takes time and a bit of education to do so. The young man is correct, and he really understands just how to fix the depleted soils of St. Elizabeth, if only the farmers will listen to him! This is happening to soils, not only, in Jamaica but throughout the world. Farmers tend to believe that adding an NPK fertilizer is good for poor soils. But soils need organic matter to provide a wide range of nutrients as well as to provide aeriation and drainage. Plants need about fourteen other macro nutrients in addition to NPK to grow up healthy. In addition, plants need the 70 or so trace minerals that they themselves do not need but which we need for us to be healthy. To make a complex story simple, most of the world's souls are depleted in nutrients. Farmers harvest their crops year after year and sometimes add an NPK fertilizer. They till the soil, spray chemicals, break up the soil structure and otherwise destroy the organic life in the soil. People who eat the vegetables and fruits become susceptible to all kinds of illnesses that the doctors cannot cure anymore. Has anyone ever wondered why the brightest scientists with all their technology cannot find a cure for cancer? The solution is staring us right in the face. Feed the soil with not only NPK but with the fourteen other macro nutrients that makes plants healthy and also feed the soils with the other 70 or so micronutrients that we need to build up our immune system, then most of these unpleasant diseases/illnesses will go away.

Its not just the land, these verity of seeds, both vegetables, fruits and ground foods are jinectic modified they are not native so they cannot grow well without fertilizer or manors. Manors is better for health.
