- 4.7% alcohol. Introduced in 1985. Certified Kosher.
"Miller Genuine Draft delivers a fresh from the tap taste through its proprietary "cold-filtered four times" brewing process. Introduced nationally in 1986, Miller Genuine Draft was born as the original cold-filtered packaged draft beer. Today, Miller Genuine Draft is reinforcing its status as the best draft beer in a bottle.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt, corn syrup (maltose), yeast, hop extract, hops"

3 years later and this beer is still hard to find. I like to have this one on hand, but I have to go to a town over to get it. This one huge liquor store has 18 packs of cans and 6 packs of bottles, but nothing else. I hope they don’t discontinue it. I like High Life a lot, but MGD is my favorite. It’s a little more expensive, but it still doesn’t break the bank. It’s really nice to drink on a hot and humid Texas night.
It's sad the way the company has let this brand die away. Thanks for watching, robatron7k. I appreciate it!
I'm late to the party but just to let the American Folks know you can get boxes of 24 Miller Genuine Draft in most super markets here in Ireland 🇮🇪. It's brewed here or in the EU under licence. I've had it in the states too, exact same stuff. Very fond of American Beers which most of the Americans don't understand because I'm Irish and we supposedly have better beer which in my opinion isn't at all true. The US has historically absorbed brewers from Germany, Czech Republic, and every other nation on earth and thus has the greatest concentration of expertise anywhere in the world relating to brewing. Would be a real shame to see it die out.
A good beer for sure. Not heavy, but not too light. Very drinkable. Thanks for another fun review! Cheers! 🍻
You're welcome, and thanks for your continued support. Cheers, back to you!
I swear everytime i watch one of your videos I learn something new, keep up the good work Ron, Cheers!
Glad to hear it! Cheers back to you, EC LQ R!
MGD, High Life and Coors are my favorite beers. Another great review!
I'm glad you enjoy them, and thanks, Mike Vargas. I appreciate you watching!
I agree i recently got into these and coors banquet was my pack for my 21st birthday
I purchased a 12 pack of Miller Genuine Draft bottles for 8 dollars last night at my Food Depot grocery store in Columbus GA and revisited the taste. It had been awhile but I really enjoyed the clean taste and it was really fresh tasting and enjoyable. Also we have the 6 pack 16oz cans here.Great beer history commentary Jay as always.
Nope- we can't get it, in cans, here, anymore, sad to say, OC. Thanks, man!
Ron I love that beer, it's as good as any beer Ive ever had. Thanks for the great review.
You're welcome, Richard Wells! I appreciate you watching. Thanks!
I remember Rusty Wallace's iconic #2 Miller Genuine Draft Ford which was one of the best looking and most memorable rides on the NASCAR grid in the early '90s ... MGD was first brewed in 1986 at the recently closed Eden, NC facility. Now that Molson Coors is calling all the shots I hope it can rejuvenate this brand.
That's interesting information, and I also hope they will bring it back to its former glory.
I drink Miller High Life very much but I LOVE Miller Genuine Draft but we can't find it here in the stores lately.
Hopefully, it will make a strong comeback, Dalton Horton. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
I get envious of your beer reviews. I work for a AB beer distribution center and feel like I have to get non ab beers in secrecy lol
Yes, I think that's a good idea, what you're doing with the secrecy. Thanks for watching, slowpoke4321. I appreciate it!
Fine review Jay! One of my favorite go to beers. I do prefer the bottled version though.
Yeah, and we can't even get the canned one, anymore, Stuart.
@@ronaldtheriot its pretty much a dead brand here in Vancover Canada Jay people hardly buy it. used to be brewed and imported from America. i dont know what the real MGD is like my cousin really likes MGD its his favorite Macro Lager
@@TheAaronChand The real MGD is quite nice, Aaron.
Hey Jay, enjoying a few bottles of this tonight from beautiful Snohomish, WA. Hope you are doing well!
Excellent, Jason, and I am well. Have a great weekend, over there, in Washington!
Great review! MGD was my first American beer ever. I love it
Thanks, and I wish it was still sold in my parish.
Great to listen to another thorough review Jay. I remember growing up to the miller commercials over here in England, especially the one with the golden hops and barley wave type things , can't remember exactly what it was , I was like 15. But anyways il have a look around for some miller this weekend in Newcastle. Nice Lager\beer. Cheers. Hope you keeping well .
I am well, Dan Samuels, and thanks for watching. I appreciate it! I hope you can find it, in England!
On MillerCoors website they list both hops and hop extract for MGD, while they only list hop extract for Miller High Life. I thought that was interesting, my interpretation would be that MGD contains both pellet hops and light stable extract, whilst High Life only contains the light stable hop extract. This could explain a (slightly) stronger hop flavor in MGD I guess.
H'mm, now THAT is quite interesting, piratenhum!
The other interesting thing about MGD is if you look at the millercoors website brands we brew page, you will notice that technically MGD is slightly different recipe than MHL. MGD lists "hops, hop extract" while MHL only lists "hop extract". I think MGD is the superior beer vs MHL but as you know it is hit or miss on distribution.
Yes, you're right, about that slight recipe difference and that distribution issue.
Highly Drinkable!! Very smooth easy drinking!! I'm Drinking one now I bought a 6 pack of bottles! Great Review!!
Thanks, so much, and I am glad you're enjoying it!
Hi Jay, I'm not sure which year it was, but MGD bottles used to have a label with more gold than black, and featured the saying, "Fresh from the tap taste" Do you have one of those bottles, and if so, what year was that. Thanks!
I remember that, Terrence, and it was about 2010, I think.
Good review. May try this again if I see it. BTW, I'm starting to come around to the new MB Ice now that I'm at the end of the 12 pack. Since you're wearing the gear, what's your opinion... Orgeron - yes or no???
Thanks!
I'd say it's probably "no". Maybe, they can hire a more mature Lane Kiffin...
Did Miller once make a beer called 1855. I swear i had some back around 2007-2008 and it was excellent.
Yes, they did, but I never did see it, in a store. Thanks for watching, Mark Brayton. I appreciate it!
Hey man. I like this beer a lot. But can only find it at walmart. Are you a Cubs fan?
I can't get it anywhere in my parish. Yes, I like the Cubs, and I have been to about 8 games at Wrigley Field, between 2002 & 2013. Thanks for watching, Kuhl Guy. I appreciate it!
as a fellow omnivore (if it's called beer i'll try it lol) how do you find the american lagers stack up against the European ones? I mean would you compare bud and miller to our beers or more like Yuengling and shit like that? I've had a good go on a lot of your stuff and some of it is really decent *but very very different!!! At the same time though I have noticed that your abv doesn't seem to match taste....some of your 5% beers taste super light like 4% beer. I do like Coors banquet though and I would love to try Hamms beer as i have heard good things.
Hamm's is good, but nothing remarkable. Simply ordinary. The Hamm's Golden Draft was better, but it's now gone. If you can get Schlitz, I think you be pleased with it.
Good review Ron, i will add this to my list of beers to try. Up here in Milwaukee a 12 pack of bottles is $7.19. Cheers! Kyle
That's a good price for it, Kyle J. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Another fine double down Ron. Iv'e always liked MGD, I have not had it in a while but I'm sure I will before too long, hope it makes a come back. Cheers.
Thanks, and I hope it makes a comeback, too, Ralph.
Might pick up some MGD for a party next weekend. One nice thing about my bottle/can collection is that it’s pretty dark so no color fading. But yeah man I love MGD, just kinda forget about it. Also love Coors Banquet.
Ah, yes, Coors Banquet really is a good one, too.
hello ronald, the mgd i drink over here is brewed here in burton on trent England.is mgd brewed anywhere else apart from the usa and england?
Well, I'm not sure, floogie, but I think it might also be brewed in India and Australia.
not brewed in england anymore ron,the labels say czech republic,prague!!!!!!@@ronaldtheriot
Miller genuine draft by far the best tasting beer. I've never tasted a better beer . and I tried every beer almost
I'm glad you like it, and MGD is no longer even sold in my parish, sad to say. Thanks for watching, Mohawk Indians Blood Indians Never Lie. I appreciate it!
@@ronaldtheriot your welcome I have to have the guy at my coronor store order it in for me I can't even find it at the markets anymore where I live hard to find but the best beer ever made in my opinion like I said I hate warm beer and I'll even drink that warm it tastes so good
i would like to second the motion to church key your big cans for drinking and pouring. same goes for small cans honestly. maybe you can try and demonstrate it during a video?
dizimond dave did it in one of his videos and was impressed
I might do that. And, I like watching, Diziomond Dave!
The 18 pack been all over Walmart. I think I'll buy. Only $3 bucks more than Milwaukee Best or MB Light. We'll see. Good stuff Jay.
Thanks, Jean, and I think the 18-pack for $12.80 is a fine deal!
Miller High Life has actually cannabilized or eaten the Miller Genuine Draft I believe. The sales on Miller High Life are astronomical compared to MGD due to price and quality. I guess people are not "feeling the need" for a cold filtered beer that doesn't change the flavor or mouthfeel. The future of Miller Genuine Draft? I guess we will have to wait and see.
I totally agree with you.
I started thinking about beer commercials, and I can't remember the last time I seen one in tv. I wonder if it's the region I live in (Bible Belt).
It's a good question, Simon.
Is Miller planning to discontinue 'Miller Genuine Draft'? It is becoming harder to find in New Jersey,
It seems like they have decided to phase it out. That's the impression I get.
we use to see this a lot but its gettin very hard to find in the UK.
I love high life! Always find it funny when a bar has high life and MGD on draft.... It's the same thing! Good video friend 👍🏼👍🏼 cheers🍺
That's right! Thanks, B30!
Beer 30 Damn I've never seen neither one on tap in Southern California.
I hope you're right about walmart because it seems to move pretty good so far. Miller Fortune didn't go so good so it is out of the county.
Yes, Walmart still has it. And, you're right- Miller Fortune bombed out. Thanks for watching, Wayne Slusher. I appreciate it!
I pretty much always have MGD and regular Budweiser in my fridge for variety. Both good beers for the price.
I'm glad you like them, nathan lyons. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
High Life has nothing on MGD taste-wise in my opinion, but high life is about 20 cents cheaper than MGD per 12 ounces give or take at sale prices, a 30 pack just ran me in between 69/70 cents a can which is a very good price for the top-tier priced beers Bud,Coors,MGD.
I agree, but it's hard to beat the High Life price.
You say you prefer Miller Genuine Draft, but when you put them head to head to decide you chose High Life.
Lots of these things are mysterious. Thanks for watching, PavelGaborik. I appreciate it!
Big difference in price here where I live, where a 30 pack of high life runs close to the same price as a 12 of the GD
That really IS a big difference! Thanks for watching, Keenan Gorman. I appreciate it!
The miller brand I always bought was MGD. I think I might want to do a side by side with HL and see the difference if any. I do hope you get to try the new (is it?) Stroh's Bohemian style Pilsner. This one is all barley and 5.5% abv. If somehow Stroh's here in Detroit keeps it regional for the time being, it would be interesting to see your take on Founders PC Pils. I do think you'll be able to get your hands on that. Cheers.
I'll try to find that Founders one, HtB.
When & if I do find this in my area it's usually 6 pack bottles & it's usually a $1 or 2 more than HL 6 packs
Yep, that is usually the case.
Friar Tuck it's sold at the same price point as miller lite from the distributor
Do you think the beer would've had more success with a non-clear bottle?
No, I doubt that is the issue.
One of the smoothest
That's for sure!
I drink Miller high life everyday but ive never had this. time to make a change!!!
I think you'd like it!
This was my father's favorite can find it easily for 4.87 a 6 pack of bottles.
It's a "dead brand" in most of southeastern Louisiana, these days, sad to say, Grove Dog1995. Well, thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Great Beer! I don't understand why this not popular. i am no beer Afficianado but this beer tastes pretty damn good. That being said I enjoy Oregon Pinot Noirs, Finger Lakes Rieslings and Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada IPA'S. Damn shame that many people let the masses dictate what they drink instead of letting their own tastes buds be the judge.
I totally agree with you, Jeffrey Miller. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
i had MGD before Chrismas 2016 Jay i didnt like it it tasted pretty bad when i went to the USA last summer and drank High Life it tasted fantastic MGD is not that poupluar here in Vancover Canada
That's odd, Aaron, because I think it's really good.
I watched a video of the Brew master of Miller. He said this beer is four times cold filtered and marketed to people who find cities exciting. I don't see how it is specifically marketed that way.
No, I don't get that, either.
What does certified kosher mean?
It means that it has an official certification as being kosher (food or drink that meets Jewish dietary standards). Thanks for watching, aortunoj. I appreciate it!
Push tabs were helpful but redundant with the wide gulp tab holes lol
I suppose so.
It was a great review!
Thanks, Gergely!
Anywhere still sells MGD in Metairie?
I saw it at Zuppardo's.
No luck at zuppardos, damn this is hard to find. Wonder if they going to discontinue it?
@@chrismeyer957 They may as well discontinue it.
Sad to see all these classic Miller brands go the way of the ditch. Why are they stopping all advertisements? It’s sad to see all the adjunct lagers disappear.
I don't know, but it makes no sense to me.
i think this beer is makeing a strong comeback becuse the website says new website comeing soon
That website has said that for over three years...
It's a shame they took down the website. It's not looking good for the brand. I actually enjoy MGD when I can find it.
It does seem to be making a bit of a comeback, around here, though.
The beeriest of beer. Corntastic! 1/5 drinkability. I'd rather drink magnum and I've never said that.
I'm drinking Magnum Premium Malt Liquor, right now!
MGD in 8 oz pony bottles in Chicago area no more commercials though
Yes, it's a pathetic state of affairs, right now, Johnny Chimpo, but maybe that will change. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Funny mgd is above premium beer in my area if you can find it but high life is budget lol ....same beer
The only difference, now, is that High Life uses hop extract, whilst MGD uses hops.
I think part of the allure of this beer is the scarcity. When I saw it on the shelf tonight I bought it simply because I hadn't seen it in years.
You're right. It is something else, how it's popularity and availability have declined, over the years. Thanks for watching, bigoldbillybob. I appreciate it!
Natural light double down!
That's a good idea, CR!
Nice one ......CHEERS
Thanks, and cheers back to you!
As for brand rejuvination, bring back Miller Red.
I second that comment!
MGD is okay I like high Life better. they had 18 packs of high life in bottles but then just stop and never seen them again.
Yeah, I'm not sure if the 18-packs are sold, here, anymore, either. Thanks for watching, j h. I appreciate it!
First! Drinking Seagrams 7 while watching!
First
Who's first? Well, thanks to all of you!
Seagrams 7- I've never had that.
I can drink it if there out of pbr
Fair enough.
you sound like a robot saying think for watching this video producion
I AM a robot. Well, I do think they're trying to appeal to Latinos.
+Ronald Theriot appeal to latino ?
Ths is my regular beer I can t t all the time like five minutes from my house
Very nice! Thanks for watching, Ryan Michael. I appreciate it!
You review these shitty beers like fine wine. I love it!
Yes, we I guess someone has to do it. Thanks for watching, Bryan Allison. I appreciate it!
