Bought it a couple of weeks ago. Haven’t had the opportunity to try it out yet. Just put it on for fun with the red filter. It felt like a LOT of light was light was lost - and I was diving the Blue Heron Bridge in Palm Beach on a cloudy day - I didn’t have lights on my tray so couldn’t compensate to see the difference.
I experienced the same distortion you are describing. I couldn’t figure out if it was the lens….lol…I am watching the video as I am writing…the 1x lens was the problem I experienced…lol…
Thank you your always informative videos.

Hey Christian
Thanks for your feedback. Glad the video was helpful to you. Quick side note: Don't use the macro lens together with the red filter. You probably lost a lot of light because of that. Using lights instead when filming macro makes much more sense. 😉
Not bad I had it too .....hope there will be upgrade to higher magnificatiin in future
i think the issue maybe is, there are 3 cameras in iPhone 14, and if the lens is not directly sitting on top of a specific camera (depending on your zoom), part of the picture would be out of focus.
Yes it's important to center the lens exactly above the lens that you want to use.
So which lens of the iPhone it should be on top using the macro lens? Thank you for your reply
can I use it for sony rx100 iv as a lens to my housing?
I see that your macro lens is listed as the Canon lens but your camera is the GH5S. How do you make that work in the GH5S and Nauticam housing?
I use a Metabones Speedboaster (amzn.to/474RI0L) to adapt the Canon 100mm to the micro 4/3 system of the GH5S.
Hello, can I use this macro lens on Sony compact cameras in underwater housing? Thanks
I couldn't tell you for sure. This lens is not made for compact cameras but rather for smartphone cameras.
Hi! Maybe the shallow depth of field could be corrected shooting manually like with the Blackmagic App?
Thanks for the idea, but not really, as the shallow depth of field has to do with the physical way this lens is build.
@@MatthiasLebo but, if you reduce the exposure… it should work. I’ll do some test :)
Hi Mathias have you seen Divevolk released a new macro lens for the SeaTouch 4 Max and it’s very expensive, do you think to review it? Thanks for your work 😊
I have seen it yes, but it's not a Divevolk lens. It is made bei another manufacturer (AOI) and is supposed to be very good. I'm talking to them at the moment to see if they want to send me one for testing. Fingers crossed... 😉
Hi Mathias have you try an other +15 for test ? I use a +10 saga ( one dive ) my iphone 11 pro (with my 2x lens ) a moment is ok an other come on +1 lens change automatically I think because the focus is difficult I test next week ! Damien
Hey Damien
This is - as you say - because your phone is changing in between the different internal camera lenses. Inside the camera settings go to RECORD VIDEO and set LOCK CAMERA to ON. This should prevent the phone from changing cameras while you're filming. Try that and see how it works buddy. 😉
@@MatthiasLebo Hi thanks Mathias but this fonction not exist on my iPhone 11 pro have you test different lens + 10 or 15 ? I read ( forum) stop fn smart hdr I test next week
Oh…sorry about that. Apple might have introduced this in a later version of the iPhone. No, I haven’t Ried any other +15 macro lens with the DiveVolk system. I’ll try to get my hands on another one though and try it out for comparison.
@@MatthiasLebo Your discussion has been very helpful - thank you. Is there a way to determine whether a macro wet lens will be compatible with the iPhone in a housing? I am thinking of possibility of using other 67mm thread lenses - from nauticam, kraken, etc, in combination with the divevolk housing. How viable would that be?
