Great video, just hope you would inform us that non-Hawaii residents need reservations before going to Diamonds Head. Just found out today and I’m going there in 3 days.
Absolutely! 💯 It's in the description box above under "Know Before You Go" KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: -Open Daily -Hours: 6am-4pm -Admission: $5 per person ((RESERVATIONS FOR VISITORS ARE REQUIRED AS OF May 12, 2022)) -Parking: Available, limited $10 per car -Restrooms: YES, only at base of crater -Food/drinks: There is a food truck at the base of the crater with quick bites, Dole whip, and beverages. -Pro Tips: Wear sunscreen (no shade on the trail!). Bring plenty of water! I usually bring my 50oz CamelBak to keep my hands free. (Kama'aina free with local ID)
Absolutely go in the morning. The last time I hiked it, we got there right as they opened on a weekday and got to watch the sun rise at the top. It was fairly empty and we could hike without being stuck behind people who took up the entire pathway. Slap on the sunscreen, bring a snack and water, DO NOT LITTER, and be considerate of others. If you’re slow, walk single-file so people can pass you.
so it only took you less than 45 actual mins to start at the bottom, get to the top and get all the way back down? My wife and I are going in november and ive been trying to look up how much time to allot to diamond head. We are both in pretty good shape.
It depends on what time you go! I'd recommend going in the morning (less hot and less crowded) 😊⏱️ If you've never done the hike before, I'd suggest giving yourself 3 hours (see below why) for a relaxed visit. A few things to think about in addition to the actual 45-60 minute hike: -If you drive a car, there can be a line to get in the crater and line for parking. -There can be a line at the ticket machine where you pay $5 to get your ticket -When I did the hike real-time hike video, I didn't stop to hang out at the lookouts or take photos since I've done the hike so many times. If it's your 1st time, you might want to add some time to the hike so you can take some picturesque photos and enjoy the view. -There's also a small gift shop that some people like to browse for souvenirs -There's also a food truck where some people grab a bite to eat afterwards and try Dole whip (delicious frozen treat!). Hope this helps! 😊
Great video and thanks for sharing. I went a few years ago but now going back in November 2021 and this time to do the hike with the family. My daughter is in a wheelchair so my plan is to carry her in my back all the way to the top so this video gives me a good idea of how is the hike right now. Very positive that I'll make it with her. One in a lifetime opportunity for her.....cheers!
This so amazing. I am so glad this video helped you. If there’s any other areas that you’d like to see, comment back to this message. I’m happy to film them for you guys if I can so you can see it before you arrive! Or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
@@YestoHawaii You are so kind! We're still putting all the pieces together on where to go first and dine, etc. but I'll definitely reach out to you if we need more tips. Appreciate you!

Nice views. Thanks for showing Hawaii s diversity.
Mahalo! I do like that you can be in the hustle & bustle of Waikiki...then go just 2-miles down the road and you're hiking at a volcanic crater.

The steep staircase was closed when we're there in May.
It’s open now! 😊

That is a good long walk I enjoyed it there is another place where you can walk all the way up and it has stairs what's the name of that place🙂👍🤙
Mahalo! There's also Koko Head Crater which has lots of stairs. I might do that one next 😊
I feel tired watching this lol
Same! 😅

Best video I’ve seen from start to finish. Great work! I’m taking my wife and kids July, hopefully my kids don’t get to tired. Thanks for this video 👍
Have fun!
It has been changed to an Internet pre-booking, so should I exchange the voucher with a ticket from the kiosk?
You would just show the email that you received with your reservation time.
The best part is when people get out of the way 😁
Such a good fun hike! I love short hikes like this one.
