Hopefully the hobby gains interest over there. I’m hoping for the same around the south of the country as most flyers are in the midlands and the north.

I normally do mine about 3ft square. That should be a sufficient size for 20 birds.

Hello lads my name is Ian birkett with regard to Wayne's birds looking good on the perch .back in 1996 ish I was flying a decent old bird team .John Russel judged them in the aerc fly he commented on the contrition of the kit on the perch and my birds generaly as looking very healthy and strong he asked me would they work in this condition and I said definitely he looked a little surprised the kit flew for about 90 mins never stopped breaking flew figure 8 pattern and won aerc old bird fly.same team same preparation about 8 weeks later won old bird nbrc fly .following year same team with a few substitutions won aerc again following year came 2nd and won nbrc old bird fly .I hear Wayne says the birkett crosses won't fly hungry there is some truth in that .even though I don't keep the birds any longer I am ina position to comment on my own stuff .in my opinion weak starving birds don't consistently give winning performances if ever.if there are any novices looking at this video I would say to them only breed from vigorous stock from a family that keeps winning over years and years .looks like a few lads there with a lot of years experience flying rollers but different ideas about how to get the best out of them on the day .more than one way to skin a cat.darren might not know it but he will be flying some so called birkett crosses as over the years peter Harper had birds back from myself and tells mesome ended up in the stock pen.very difficult to obtain pure birds of a given family unless you go straight to the breeder of said family and obtain stock that way.never bred out of an unflown bird in 27 years always chose my stock out of the air at 2 year old.seemed to work for me over the years best to best .very close family years on easy to recognise my stuff pure and sometimes even when crossed I can point them out .any way lads look like you are all mad keen on the job so good luck and keep looking up .reply if you like.
