This is kinda surreal for me. I was with the Channel Awesome from the very beginning. I was there in 2009 watching Nostalgia Critic doing his review on the Room. I witnessed their launch when they were called TGWTG before they changed the name to Channel Awesome. I witnessed their rise to popularity. And now it turns out I am gonna witness their end.
Took a quick look at that document and wow... I barely skimmed one or two testimonials and just wow, wow, W O W that's some trash level. Late 2008, just barely watching my first anime as I was 11. Holy crap.
"They just want an apology".. The trouble is the moment you apologise for something you validate it - So if CA made a blanket apology they'd effectively be saying it's all true. And the moment that happens some people might go from simply wanting sorry to "See you in court". Which isn't to say CA are blameless. As much as the majority of the claims seem petty, or based on CA's unprofessionalism, there are some which are appalling and need addressing. But ending up in court over a multitude of allegations because they implicaitly admit fault by saying sorry isn't the way to address them.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. I'm the same age as you Tekking and just like you I started watching NC back in 2008/2009. It's really sad to see what's happened but I agree with everything you said.
I started watching NC soon after his comeback, and I began watching his onder videos and also actively following him. I was aware of TGWTG and Channel Awesome but I never found interest in other content creators since I could not really connect with their content, but the crossover specials were blast for me to watch. NC soon became an inspiration for me even if I haven't or trying to be content creator, he encouraged me to try to be funny to make others more happy and he also helped me to express my opinions about subjects. I felt quite jealous of his crew since the behind the scenes videos felt like they showed the team having good spirit and enviroment. I began to look at Doug as role model to be good and upbeat person who could encourage others, and first and foremost being true with my passions in life. So even if you want to concider me Walker brothers apologist or simply wanting to deny my idol turning out to be asshole, I'd simpy like to wish that they've at least looked at their past and changed their ways in regard of how they do their shit. Tamara or Malcom, or Rachel who's already left, in general don't seem to feel like they've been put trough similar horrible shit like what's told in the document. I won't defend or justify all things done to previous content creators and I think they deserve recognition for all that has happened, that shit is still disgusting, but as said, if all of those behind the scenes videos from recent years of NC reviews are just one big act everyone are forced into, I wish I could say with conviction that Walkers have looked into their past and have made effort to create good work enviroment. It alone cannot make up for all the shit that has happened, but I'd like to think if something, feel free to correct me if you feel my thoughts are flawed, it's still an effort to try to change for better. I don't know how much Doug himself can say or has been saying in the two poor responses, wether he's trapped in claws of CA company or he is indeed still ignorant douche refusing to see the past mistakes and simply apologize, but I'd still like to have hope for him. So weird hearing Tekking talk about this. I tried so hard to ignore this shit as a massive Nostalgia Critic fan, but it doesn’t seem to be going away. GOD, this sucks. I never liked anyone else having to do with Channel Awesome other than the Nostalgia Critic crew and Lindsay Ellis extremely recently. NC’s content is some of my favorite content I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. Since 2014, when I discovered his Last Airbender review, I’ve pretty much watched at least one Nostalgia Critic review a day. There is basically nothing that could really fill the void for me if the Nostalgia Critic is done. Now I’m gonna have to fill my time with even MORE Tekking videos. That’s totally healthy.
It really is sad to see this once great sight fall from grace. I'm considerably older than Tekking, but Channel Awesome was a major part of my formative years too. I always knew the quality of the videos was not very great at all, but I didn't care because they were informative and entertaining. Had I known about all the behind the scenes nonsense sooner,I'm not sure how I would've taken it, but knowing it now, it puts me in a bit of a conundrum. I still enjoy the Nostalgia Critic, and plan to keep watching it for at least a little while (in fact, I'm gonna watch the latest episode as soon as I finish this), but Doug's character (his moral stance) is in serious contention for me.
In a similar vein, I dropped JonTron almost as soon as I found out that he's basically a white supremacist (which is odd, given his background). In his case, it was not that long after the '16 election, and the wounds were still fresh (They haven't really healed, but I've learned to live with them). I'd already dropped The Rageholic (aka Razorfist) after his halfhearted assurances to his fans who aren't crazy that 'the swamp will be drained,' so I had zero tolerance for anyone in a similar vein. As much as I'd enjoyed Jon's work (and maybe still would), the moment I learned that side of him, I was 110% done with him. Call me petty, or and SJW, or whatever, but I gotten stick to my principles.
As of 6am, Europe timezone, only Guru Larry and Doug Walker remain as producers on the site. They haven't updated the site yet, but its gonna be depressing.
Channel awesome done fucked themselves over with that second response of theirs. Almost all of their producers are completely gone and they ended up dragging people into this that have no business being involved (especially Malcolm and Tamara), not to mention they even unknowingly tarnished JewWario's name along with making themselves open for lawsuit. Such a shitshow I tell ya.
This is all so sad, but I don't think websites like Channel Awesome are relevant anymore. I've been watching NC on UA-cam for the last couple of years. Most of the reviewers on CA I would just watch on UA-cam without ever going to the site. I don't care if other people posted on it. I wanted to hear from people I was already subscribed to and know their stance on this so thank you for posting your thoughts. Also, before anyone asks, no, I'm not related to them, and yes, I'm just a fan. As far as my thoughts go, most of them are similar to yours and like you, I was bothered more by the company's reactions on both occasions than the actual evidence surfacing. It's one thing to hear people confirm "yes, this rumor was true," but CA essentially proved in their actions that they really were like the former content creators made them out to be. I know enough about shady business practices and understand that 98% of the time, when a victim of any form of abuse speaks up, she is telling the truth because many of them do not speak up due to accusations of lying. In the first document, what bothered me was that it wasn't just a non-apology, but how it was worded. "We sincerely regret you feel that way" is something abusers commonly tell their victims and I have even heard it myself (though I won't say who from.) In the second document what bothered me was the fact that they claimed to care about the victims of a former contributor that they fired for allegations of sexual assault, but carelessly left up the dates they fired him, thus allowing him to be used as a scapegoat in their last-ditch attempt to post a "you're wrong, we're right, and here's why" statement with their supposed facts. Said former contributor is now deceased, but the internet did what it always did to find the person so the damage is done. What bothered me most though? Channel Awesome's CEO took full advantage of this and encouraged the site's more popular contributors to submit monetized video tributes to be uploaded to CA's Blip while snubbing another user who asked to hold a memorial service for this deceased contributor. These people were friends of the deceased person who were never told about what happened and were just trying to honor their friend as they knew him. Back then, Channel Awesome just wanted money because said deceased user and right now, they'll go so far as to reveal their incompetence just to get attention because NEGATIVE attention is better than no attention at all, even if it's at the expense of those who were hurt. With that being said, I hold no qualms against those who still watch him, but as someone who is familiar with abuse (and mental health for that matter,) I cannot in good conscience stay subscribed to a channel that I know is partially run by a greedy jerk because I know enough about how UA-cam monetization works. As I told Anime America, Doug and Rob can do better so they need to ditch Mike Michaud.

I don't even watch NC anymore, aside from his editorials. I still enjoy watching Suede and Todd, but they're two of the many people who left, the fall of the website won't affect them in any way. Most of their money is made on Patreon anyways. So I'm good.
Funny you mentioned MySpace, I just visited the website and... a lot has changed. I do not recognize anything with the new layout, even the video games that they used to have are now gone.

I agree they should get rid of mike or he steps down, knowing he will not since he sounds stubborn, and they have really give out a better apology. Channel Awesome's down to five shows: Blockbuster Buster, Cinema Snob, Gaming Wildlife, Guru Larry, and Nostalgia Critic. I know for a fact at least two of those shows also post on UA-cam and I don't think Blockbuster Buster has ever been that huge, honestly. This site definitely feels like it's at a point where it's too far to actually go back.
Also, IDK if I misheard Tekking or something, but the Weekly Manga Recap is still going, they just don't post it on Channel Awesome anymore and now mainly do it on Twitch and Hitbox with old episodes being uploaded to UA-cam.

I always thought the people at Channel Awesome were a bit off kilter, but this is some next-level absurdity. They went from being losers to creepy losers.
Basically an awesome channel with a lot of content creators that reviewed movies, comics and other things of nerd culture. Their CEO went all Harvey Weinstein/Donald Trump level of scumbag. It was known by the head content creators. Women and everyone who wasn't the main star could be treated like shit. Worse offenses: Would be fired for not having answered a skype call within 15 mins Saying that a friend of a creator that did suicide shouldn't make a memorial vid because they were a no name youtuber and should be done by someone else The movies they made proceeds all given to CEO non to creators, and no food/drinks (even when filming hours in a desert like area) and they were not liable if any cast/crew got injured. Also their HR manger suppose to work EVERYDAY asked to come in the day after surgery to be fired and then forced to sign a NDA to not work in her field for 3 years or she wont get her severance pay she kinda needed because surgery is expensive. Basically its worse than train wreck at this point. Best I can do to sum things up but for more info if you do not want to read a 70 pg doc there are plenty of vids out there talking about this.

28 shows left in under a month. I looked back on march 22 and it's april 13th now and 28 channels have left. That's... something. Kinda sad a few people on there are still with them but they haven't had nothing bad about them or nothing so thats good i guess

i'll keep watching the nostalgia critic and going to the site, i enjoy the content and been watcing for years, sucks what happened and learning about it is horrible, one that hit me the most was when the nostalgia chick didnt get payed for the moulin rouge review but i still really like the content and thats enough for me
Channel Awesome's down to five shows: Blockbuster Buster, Cinema Snob, Gaming Wildlife, Guru Larry, and Nostalgia Critic.
I know for a fact at least two of those shows also post on UA-cam and I don't think Blockbuster Buster has ever been that huge, honestly.
This site definitely feels like it's at a point where it's too far to actually go back.
Also, IDK if I misheard Tekking or something, but the Weekly Manga Recap is still going, they just don't post it on Channel Awesome anymore and now mainly do it on Twitch and Hitbox with old episodes being uploaded to UA-cam.

The only bad thing Doug did besides not standing up for his coworkers was killing off the nostalgia critic making other channel awesome/tgwtg employees fear for their future.
I remember sites being blocked by barracuda except for one site that somehow passed by. There was adult content in that too. I dont mind watching NC but his reviews became hit or miss. At this point i have better channels to watch anyway

Basically an awesome channel with a lot of content creators that reviewed movies, comics and other things of nerd culture. Their CEO went all Harvey Weinstein/Donald Trump level of scumbag. It was known by the head content creators. Women and everyone who wasn't the main star could be treated like shit. Worse offenses:
Would be fired for not having answered a skype call within 15 mins
Saying that a friend of a creator that did suicide shouldn't make a memorial vid because they were a no name youtuber and should be done by someone else
The movies they made proceeds all given to CEO non to creators, and no food/drinks (even when filming hours in a desert like area) and they were not liable if any cast/crew got injured.
Also their HR manger suppose to work EVERYDAY asked to come in the day after surgery to be fired and then forced to sign a NDA to not work in her field for 3 years or she wont get her severance pay she kinda needed because surgery is expensive.
Basically its worse than train wreck at this point. Best I can do to sum things up but for more info if you do not want to read a 70 pg doc there are plenty of vids out there talking about this.

28 shows left in under a month. I looked back on march 22 and it's april 13th now and 28 channels have left. That's... something. Kinda sad a few people on there are still with them but they haven't had nothing bad about them or nothing so thats good i guess
