Harkon seems like the kind of dude that'd really respect how close the mythic dawn cult came to conquering nirn and most likely just wanted an artifact of them as decoration
6:32 theres actually another kill cam where the dragonborn uses a battleaxe to "hook" the chaurus and drag it to the ground and then finishing it off with a powerful blow straight to the body
With the female vampire broach, As it also resembles a ships wheel, I always thought ships=harbour=Coldharbour as females vampires are daughters of coldharbour.
A symbol for chaos on a vampire outfit fits as much as a clown does at a funeral to entertain the grievers. Vampires are very ordered, chaos is their enemy because they don't want their cattle to be alarmed making it more difficult to obtain a meal. They live in ordered covens with their own rules and laws. They infiltrate towns and cities, blending in as much as they can... up to being the court mage of Solitude or simply a husband and wife who runs the local sawmill. Keeping the peace with a lack of chaos serves them and their interests.
@@ZippyMrMew daughters of coldharbor are female vampires who obtain their vampirism directly from molag bal through.... unpleasant means. Age has nothing to do with it. Though the means are why Serena isn't comfortable around temples.
Sam Reddig age doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with it from the start, but the daughters of coldharbour do seem to end up living a long time, if Serana and Valerica are any indication lol. That’s the one thing about romancing Serana... she’s well preserved but a bit of a cougar for the Dragonborn 😂
I've heard a theory about the Mythic Dawn banner in Harkon's room, I don't remember exactly where though. Since Dagon and Molag Bal are rivals, it is possible that Harkon captured some Mythic Dawn members during the Oblivion crisis and kept the banner as a symbol of triumph.

The skeleton on the mountaintop... You first two explanations were a bit more of a stretch I think. Though the third theory of it being a nod to Melkor has something to it. Melkor was defeated by the Valar and banished in to the void. In short he experienced as true of a death as a deific being can. Further, while he had the silmaril embedded in his crown, they were a prize he stole from the Noldor who had crafted them. They were beyond precious as they held the last light of the two trees of valinor (which morgoth/melkor destroyed with the aid of ungoliant). This in turn led to his pursuit by the Noldor and sons of Fëanor and the ensuing wars where these mighty elves fought to reclaim the treasure of their father. You also ought to consider the area that those wars took place in. Beleriand. It was a land with several Elven kingdoms, granted alongside those of men and dwarves, but the history of the 1st age is predominantly about the elves. Additionally, the wars ultimately concluded with Morgoth/Melkor's defeat, his 'death' and the destruction of Beleriand. Mark also that Orcs are not a race created in and of themselves, in Tolkien's lore, Orcs are twisted and betrayed elves. Morgoth is also the one who brought the dragons into being. And before I forget, the final battles of those wars against Melkor were fought about his fortress of Angband which was located beneath Thangorodrim, northern, very tall, mountains. I saw the Lich on the thumbnail and got excited. Gauntlet dark legacy was my jam when I was a kid (green Archer for LYFE) and the Lich's Crypt was my favorite ost track in the entire game. The way the Lich climbed out of the hole in the middle of the arena headless, grabbing his head from the spike on his axe and then kicking his axe up with a menacing flourish and twirling it in his hands was amazing!! Oh man, if only there was a UA-camr with extensive knowledge of NPC dialogue who could speculate, hypothesise and theorise where the next Elder Scrolls game might be set... Each game seems to have many hints to the next
I'm standing by hammerfell my reasoning is poor at best, in morrowind you're taken from cyrodill in skyrim you were headed to hammerfell. Little hints in the openings of games.
@@ralcogaming7674 I'm inclined to agree. That, and one of the first quests most players following the story will encounter is the Saadia quest with the two Redguards
@@jmell458 we also learn in eso that red eagle was a sword singer. Red eagle was a prominent reachmen. Theres also the ebony warrior whose a dragonborn and a redguard.
The Fountain is my favorite movie of all time. Clint Mansell is an incredible composer, and I spend about 80% of that movie ugly sobbing. Also, the gorgeous Xibalba effects were done by chemical reactions, not just CGI, which makes it even more beautiful
It's also possible that the Ancient Falmer Armor is called "Ivory Armor" in the creation kit coding because it's similar in design to Ebony Armor, but with a white color scheme, and as such is the opposite of ebony - hence ebony and ivory.
For the snowberry bush I think it's a reference to the fountain for all the reasons you stated but also there is a little stream of water passing through it
I'm fairly confident you can get the bard book in dragonborn too. In fact, a lady sends you on a misc quest to get it, asking you to retrieve it and other cargo when it was stolen by pirates, and to "keep the contents of the cargo a secret"
The Nightmare from D&D (pre-5e) is native to the Lower Planes, not the Astral Plane or Plane of Shadows. Which is fitting since they're often the mounts for night hags ("night-mara"). Cu Sith is properly pronounced "Coo Shee."
I'm the Soul Cairn, as I was doing the Arvak quest, I remember wandering around to find the skull and I found what looked like a tomb to me. I entered, since tombs hold corpses, and corpses have skeletons, etc, only to be met with a stand or so which required a gem fragments, which I'd previously collected because I thought they looked cool and I had literally nothing better to do as I tried to stay up all night. As a result, I recall there being a strange reaction of there suddenly being lightning striking the center of the room from the stand and the ceiling, the room dark with a grate-like floor I think? I know for sure, however, that an executioner-like figure started attacking me, vomiting as an attack whilst summoning skeletons or something of the sort. Either way, I got completely owned regardless of my relatively high-ish level and quite leveled armor, magic, and weapons. This was a few years ago, and ever since then had I figured I'd found a secret boss or an Easter Egg or something. Only recently had I decided to Google it to figure out what the hell actually happened there. Turns out, I just got my ass handed to me by what was quite literally a secret boss, the Reaper.
Lovely little callback to dragonheart. I loved that movie as a kid, along with the old VHS cartoons about the Ewok villages and the old animated version of the hobbit!
I always assumed the Chaos symbol pin on the female vampires' capes were some kinda lowkey nod to Molag Bal's domain Coldharbour. Now, English isn't my native language but harbors makes me think of the sea and marine stuff, so the pin I always thought was like... a fancy rudder for a ship.
There's another Sultry Argonian Bard book out there. I've gotten that book before but never at a bedroll like that. Examination with the creation kit should show proof enough if I'm right on that though.
Great video as always camel! As an Irish man I feel ashamed I didn't get the reference to Fionn mac Cumhail until now. Thanks for bringing an Irish legend to light :)🇮🇪
I just thought of one, the color scheme and shape of the vampire lord itself is a 3d rerendering of Dracula's final from from symphony of the night just a little less bulky
You forgot to mention that the flying orbs in the Soul Cairn is a reference to Little Monsters. In the movie, there are flying orbs that appear when Brian and Maurice (who's a friendly monster) first enter the monster underworld, much like when the Dragonborn and Serana (also a friendly monster) first entered the Soul Cairn.
34:32 ..but when you have Mjoll the Lioness as follower, she tells that she as a girl, went hunting with her father and the Clifracers made for excelent sport...so Juib didn't wipe them out completely
This might be a stretch, but I like to think this is either a reference or at least something influenced by Warhammer Fantasy. One interesting character in Warhammer Fantasy is named Walach Harkon, is the Grandmaster of a group of Vampire Knights called the Blood Dragons, residing in The Blood Keep. The leader of the vampires in Skyrim, is named Harkon, and one of the very first objectives you receive when you start making moves against him is find 2 elder scrolls, each named Blood and Dragon.
about The Reaper's green vomit, my mind actually went to the episode of The X-Files--season 1 episode 3. The Reaper being in an enclosed space filled with clumps of bone+slime reminded me of the antagonist of that episode Victor, as he can traverse tight spaces, and made a nest out of human bile and newspaper.
For the chaurus hunters, there is also a unique two-handed animation for greatswords & battleaxes. I haven’t tested if the animation also applies for warhammers.
That dragon skeleton one at about 9 mins in could be a reference to old norse mythology, where in ragnorok fenrir eats odin, and odins son shoves a sword in his mouth and uses his Giant shoe to hold it open. Now fenrir is a wolf and it's a gauntlet not a boot, but there are still some similarities.
Enjoy chaps.

The Fountain is my favorite movie of all time. Clint Mansell is an incredible composer, and I spend about 80% of that movie ugly sobbing.
Also, the gorgeous Xibalba effects were done by chemical reactions, not just CGI, which makes it even more beautiful
Bran means "Defender" on most slavic languages. Branimir is very popular variation of the name, it means defender of the world.
It's also possible that the Ancient Falmer Armor is called "Ivory Armor" in the creation kit coding because it's similar in design to Ebony Armor, but with a white color scheme, and as such is the opposite of ebony - hence ebony and ivory.
For the snowberry bush I think it's a reference to the fountain for all the reasons you stated but also there is a little stream of water passing through it
You can actually find Chaurus hunters in the Falmer dungeon you go to during the Thieves Guild questline if you have the Dawnguard DLC installed.
The 'snakes' St Patrick drove from Ireland are supposedly a metaphor for the druids, who were sometimes referred to as 'serpents of wisdom'
Now, English isn't my native language but harbors makes me think of the sea and marine stuff, so the pin I always thought was like... a fancy rudder for a ship.
thank you good sir for still making easter egg videos about skyrim in mid 2020, these help me get through my day
I'm late to the party...is there a definitive spelling of how Camel says "bones"?
Boerns?
Bowerns?
Baurns?
Anyone else think of Grim Fandango when you saw the skeleton with plants growing out of it? It looks like he got sprouted lol
Been binge watching a bunch of “elder scrolls detective” and “curating curious curiosities” this is perfect timing
I was trying to sleep
Oh well
8:30 - I like to put these on to fall asleep too, i was almost off and then you went and said that!
The individual with the ring at 13:01 also kinda reminds me of Gollum as he's sinking in the lava at the end of The Return of the King
Helheim, hel is just the goddess. But I appreciate the reference none the less, and love the video even more. Well done. Love you.
Perfect Timing!
I needed this. Now.
Thank you.
I never thought I would hear a Neverending story and metal band reference in a elder scrolls skyrim video. Great a video.
That thing with The Fountain is pretty dang neat. My favorite game referencing my favorite movie.
Arvak always reminded me of Artax, I'm glad I'm not alone!
Yo thanks for reading the 'Sultry Argonian Bard.' We needed that.
3:40 listen - I was not ready, it's been twelve or more years, but it still hurts
I am really glad that you included the Brush of True Paint!
I just thought of one, the color scheme and shape of the vampire lord itself is a 3d rerendering of Dracula's final from from symphony of the night just a little less bulky
Arvak's swampy influence also influende the art in the witcher 2 memoires where Geralt led Roach out.
34:32 ..but when you have Mjoll the Lioness as follower, she tells that she as a girl, went hunting with her father and the Clifracers made for excelent sport...so Juib didn't wipe them out completely
she was on mainland Morrowind
Camel, I could use a man like you in my ranks to investigate what the legion is doing. Consider fighting for the true sons and daughters of skyrim
The stormcloaks have obtained access to the internet?
@@angelnavarro3387 Hail Ulfric!
The Fountain is f-ing phenomenal and I'll never stand for slander of it
So you'll take it lying down?
Whenever I see a human body or skeleton with a deer head I think of the Jersey Devil.
I don't know about everybody else but this is the best birthday upload one could ever ask for!
SERANA IS THE MOST "DELICIOUS" PART OF DAWNGUARD DLC:)
I always viewed the brooch/pin not as Chaos but rather a stylized compass of sorts.
Love that you used the Nightfall in Middle Earth cover art!
Every time camel makes a easter egg video an angel gets its wings
I typed out a whole comment to my Dragonheart theory and now I see you beat me to it your good
about The Reaper's green vomit, my mind actually went to the episode of The X-Files--season 1 episode 3.
I hope you have more new, big videos like this in the work! Anyway, time to dive in deep into this Dawnguard delving! Thanks so much for uploading!
Aw man I love November's doom, can't believe i didn't know those references were in game
Binge watching your videos back to back- and adding comments for the algorithm~! 🌻👍 Keep up the great content!
The amount of work that goes into these videos is mind-boggling, good on you man.
20:10 other people: what a strange simbol
