@liachel08 - The first Olivia was an entirely different woman (from the 1400s or 1600s or whenever he was first mortal)- possibly an ancestor of Livvie's. The answer to your second question is explained later in this arc, and since I don't want to give anything away, watch the rest and see. :)
This was like when Livvie got bit by the snake. Caleb was in love with Olivia who he wanted to marry, but Livvie wasn't her, he tried to make her into the first Olivia. He took the goodness out of her which was Tess and it left Livvie with only desire and need which Caleb tricked into wanting him. Caleb wanted a sex slave that's about it. When Tess and Livvie merged they should have created a stronger better Livvie with no memory of Caleb or Jack, it would have been like they were reborn in the water.
Tess is the good part of livvie. Caleb removed her and that is why Livvie became bad. Caleb fell in love with Tess. He liked her goodness. But eventually he missed being bad with Livvie. He rejoin the two and they again became one.
can anyone explain the diff between tess and olivia who came first? who is the real ego....I know the first Olivia was Caleb first love in the 1400s or whatever and this tess/olivia is her doppleganger but who is she tess ot olivia

Terrible acting lynn Hearing. I hate Lucy! The only good thing about this show is not seeing the character Lucy is out of my sight.
