    instead of freewheeling diode, if we put a capacitor, will it charge?
    this way we can harness the collapsing field energy aka back spike or flyback and utilize it for external work?

      No, capacitor will charge no doubt, but other components may damage. Further L and C may resonance.

      No, energy stored in the inductor has to be dissipated some where, or to be used somewhere.

      Due to inductor in load. But if you are talking about inductor of relay coil and non inductor load Then ssr will help. No diode required.
      I made many videos with different circuit condition.

      @@GKAgrawal2 actually my ebike motor kit has no switch so using relay but controller is packed up as I did not put diaod side of relay by mistake...now new contraller I will use but with SSR...I think 3 phase motor controller is non inductive load, right?

      Motors have coils inside. And coils has some equivalent inductor.

    Sir Mera ek saawal hai. transformer 5 Saal se Chalo hai.mujhe abhi 2 Saal ke Liye baand Karna hai.isse transformer ko koi nukshan to nahi Hoga? Transformer 34.5kv ka hai.output 480 hai.

      Transformer ko Koi nuksan nahi hoga lekin phir se chalu karne ke liye aapko uska transformer

      Depends upon use, this is just example to explain problem and use of diode. if inductor is there like in this circuit, then freewheeling diode required.

      While no inductor and no energy need to go some where so no need to spark but also sparking

      That is due to the electrical break down of gases between switch contacts during switch opening. This phenomenon is used for arc welding of iron rod with low voltage circuit.
