Am I the only one who appreciates the *staggering* amount of literary references in this song??! This is the first time I've seen so many in a Vocaloid song! Incredible, so incredible! "I think, therefore I'm troubled" shook me. A really *really* good Vocaloid song!
I think that all of these songs is about how education and reading can promote free thought and break ‘brain washing’. All of these songs are about thinking for yourself and coming to your own conclusion not just following along with what the crowd tells you to do. I really like the line “should I be alive or should I be dead? Let’s decide in a democratic way!” Because that line is DEFINITELY about human rights. Honestly there’s so much in all these songs it would probably take ten million years to decipher it all.
I actually thought the line ‘Let's decide in a democratic way!’ express madness of blind worship towards democracy … but your interpretation is very interesting!
I'm quite sad that Danganronpa exploded like this. You cannot have a single anime gore video without some 14 yo Nagito fangirls spamming Danganronpa, as if going through the game is supposed to turn you into a top tier otaku :p
The phrase "I think therefore I'm troubled" is a parody of the "famous" phrase "I think therefore I am", or "cogito ergo sum" in Latin, but, I'm sorry, I don't remember who said it...
A couple of other 'references' I noticed were at 2:17, the opening of Shakespeare's Hamlet, and 3:14 where Apology is the speech Socrates gave in his defense (the word apology in this case is more like defense, because of the meaning of the original Greek word) at his trial, probably as recorded by Plato. 2:20 is also from Apology, although you can't see much of it. This song is really intriguing, but I just can't figure it out. >.< Although, I guess that makes sense because probably the reason I find it interesting is because it so complex.

Ok, I think I've figure out the meaning of this song, but it's only a personal interpretation, so I could be wrong: I think that this song and another song by the same artist, Propaganda, are connected. This song is about someone who has her own independent thoughts and beliefs like any other person, but then she began to notice her beliefs being stepped on by propaganda, calling her and anybody else who believed in the same thing as her an idiot. She began to think that she was an idiot for not following that propaganda, so she joined it and preached what she didn't believe in because she was afraid of looking stupid and being wrong with her actual beliefs. However, since every propaganda goes against another, a bunch of other groups began to call her an idiot yet again for believing in something they didn't, and still not wanting to be called that, she joined all of them and began to preach one thing and then another, always contradicting herself because she joined so many different propagandas that don't all believe in the same thing. In the end she didn't know what she believed in because she couldn't think independently anymore, so she just went insane and did whatever she wanted with no morals or beliefs. But since she was satisfied with that, and with propaganda you can't ever be satisfied (since you always need to find something to rise against), she killed herself. I think the books are supposed to be a metaphor, because they promote independent thought, yet there's always an 'important' detail and 'unimportant' detail in them and so on, it doesn't let you decide that on your own, so it act doesn't do anything
Just adding a few literary references of the song XD 0:49 after ongs lyrics mention utopia, theer appears text which mentons concept of Arcadia and utopia, and Thomas More's "Utopia" 2:18 there is a haiku by Kobayashi Issa: "suzumenoko sokonoke sokonoke ouma ga tooru" (young sparrows get out of the way, get out of the way, a great horse is coming) ... maybe "move to the side, like that dissappear" part of lyrics is also refering partly to the haiku... maybe... I’ve been listening to the songs from this series since probably middle school but only now do I truely feel like I’m beginning to understand what they are about. The masses accept what the government or church tells them is right even if it’s unethical or wrong while the voices of the people that speak up get ignored because no matter what they say and no matter who says it the world won’t change. Though I feel like that’s only scratching the surface of these complicated songs with their complicated issues.
I JUST NOTICED THE INSTRUMENTAL IS JUST A CLOWN MELODY THAT YOU USUALLY ASOCIATE IN A CIRCUSSSSS And the final melody is the Propaganda "Rise up people! It's the time to say goodbye to the fools "
Haha, first 30 seconds in and there are some excellent literary references! I'm enjoying this song, and all of the others in this series. Rip, looks like I'll be listening to this on repeat-- ''Ningen Shikkaku''/''Human Disqualification'', '' I am a cat'' et cetera. XD Amuses me, anyway. (Also I'm not that involved with Danganronpa so those references I didn't catch if there were any.)
i spent WAYY too long looking for this song but I FINALLY FOUND IT so many references... DAMN THIS IS CRAZY I DIDNT EXPECT TO FALL INTO A DEEPER HOLE BUT HERE I AM
I just noticed something. In 'Faust', it's stated that if Faust was so pleased with what the devil gave him in life that he wanted that moment to stretch on forever, then he would die. This song contains the lyric, "I was satisfied, so I'll disappear," as a lyric. Another song in the Literature Girl Insane series, Dance Dance Decadance, has Goethe, the writer of Faust, as the odd name out among the philosophers. Wonder what this means?
Just gotta love this song!! If you love books you probably should listen to this song, cuz its amazing!! I've always loved reading when I was kid and I still do, so I really like this song!!!
Apparently it's a character from an anime/game called Dangan-Ronpa? I've never heard of it before, but apparently her title is 'Super High School Level Literature Girl', so I can see why people think of her looking at the title. She looks a lot like the girl in the picture too. She has long dark braids, but she doesn't have hair clips like the girl in the picture does. *shrug*
There's probably a bunch of Dangan ronpa references in the comments but...did anyone notice that the girl's pose in the PV is VERY similar to one of Genocider Shou's pose? o3o''
After watching bungou stray dogs you have a more japanese perspective on these literary reference. Nothing near the people who actually grew up learning about these books in the literature class but at least you GET something out of it
@@ariannatroutlake6479 It's not "ruru-chan" she's Rorochan_1999 and you should pay her a bit more respect due to what her situation was and what she did. Don't contradict my decisions when you can't even back up your own.

Could this be refrencing to Murder Case at The Mansion of Antiquarian Books? Both of the characters have braids and it seems likely someone would go insane if they read too many murder books.

I JUST NOTICED THE INSTRUMENTAL IS JUST A CLOWN MELODY THAT YOU USUALLY ASOCIATE IN A CIRCUSSSSS
And the final melody is the Propaganda "Rise up people! It's the time to say goodbye to the fools "
I thought this song had a lot of Hamlet energy before I realized it was actually referenced (it was pretty blink-and-you-miss-it).
My 'The Best Vocaloid Songs' playlist had 69 songs on it.
It just became 70.
... I kinda liked having the number 69. XD
3:24 that laugh was just amazing
Also 1:21 I think therefore I'm troubled is a reference to I think therefore I am
I was satisfied so i disappeared! I think she meant,"I was satisfied, so i killed myself!"

hi Coolix :>
Haha, first 30 seconds in and there are some excellent literary references! I'm enjoying this song, and all of the others in this series.
Rip, looks like I'll be listening to this on repeat-- ''Ningen Shikkaku''/''Human Disqualification'', '' I am a cat'' et cetera. XD Amuses me, anyway.
(Also I'm not that involved with Danganronpa so those references I didn't catch if there were any.)
i spent WAYY too long looking for this song but I FINALLY FOUND IT
so many references...
This remind me of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
David Chiem- The Ultimate -Motivational- -Speaker- Manipuator
Insane Lit. girl? Sounds like my kind of song. :D
Oh wow didnt expect to find the original
omg david chiem song!!!!! 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😊
Another one who came here from the drdt mv, I see..
Wow, this is extremely interesting, now I feel inclined to do research on every single one of those things. :'D This is gonna be fun.
I didn’t realize this song was made 11 years ago
why do i want to cry-
This song is so addicting :)
no but, i think this song is underrated (don't hate me if I'm wrong)

Literature Girl? More like Toko Fukawa
Should I be dead? Vote for my demise in DR:THH
Toko fukawa is cancer
nah
***** yah
Let's go Genocide Jill-
I mean Toko!
Seeing as Dance Dance Decadence stars a girl very simmilar to Maizono I'd say this song is really about Fukawa.
Hm.. All characters in Dangan Ronpa are stereotypical... So I think it's logical if Fukawa is in its own a stereotype of literature girls.
Because super body builder girls, high school badasses with pointy hair, serial killer high school girls are stereotypical...
+Brian Kolosvary Loner people being secretly crazy is also a stereotype.
not dangan ronpa related
sadly, it is
it really shouldn't be though, i agree
this series deserves its own anime imo
frizzleomega Actually it's not ??
Where did you get that
This was really good !
oh gahd dis is facking awesome
i had to learn to read japanese to find the english version fuckkk 😭😭
Did anyone else come here because of despair time?
Meeeeeee
Yeah, yeah I did
Apparently it's a character from an anime/game called Dangan-Ronpa? I've never heard of it before, but apparently her title is 'Super High School Level Literature Girl', so I can see why people think of her looking at the title. She looks a lot like the girl in the picture too. She has long dark braids, but she doesn't have hair clips like the girl in the picture does. *shrug*
I came here from wooma 😂
i love the guitar parts so much help
Great song
This has so many references.... @-@ I can't go to it!
Am I the only one to think of DADDADARARARADDA CIRCUS DADDADARARARADDA AFRO
Lol u are not alone...
(I got here through an animatic about Phos from Houseki no kuni)
Fukawa has a song about her apparantly.
Iknowright
epic i wish i got cool songs like this
I had a bug when i saw briefly some french text at 2:18.
It just seems weird in a Vocaloid song =3
You weren't the only one
That circus music xD
I noticed it too!
If you listen with headphones, in the background there is what sounds like pinball machine music
Listening to this makes me want to rerererererererererererere-read No Longer Human :p
Thank you for subbing this! I really liked this so much but can't find the translation anywhere. ;~;
there's no way this wasn't based off of touko the similarities are crazy
yey more karasuyasabou... thank you for the subs...
I came from Wooma, who else?
Her name is Ayaka -^_^- Well, I think it is .3.
you sir/mam are awesome
Wow this song is madness! O_o
There's probably a bunch of Dangan ronpa references in the comments but...did anyone notice that the girl's pose in the PV is VERY similar to one of Genocider Shou's pose? o3o''
3:34 -> Jabberwocky Jabberwocka
After watching bungou stray dogs you have a more japanese perspective on these literary reference.
Nothing near the people who actually grew up learning about these books in the literature class but at least you GET something out of it
I feel like part of the japanese language have just been downloaded in to my sub-conscious....
O_O
Thanks the google docs link helped HAHA
Thank you for translating! Just a a note, that google documents link leads to an empty page.
It has the dah dah dadadada circus tune lol
Something something best girl something.
lmao, I thought "lemon bomb" was a portal 2 reference
...*automatically favorites*
This is... This... It's Fukawa... And Rin Kagamine... CAN'T *explodes from sheer awesome*
Karasuyasabou predicted DDLC confirmed
Why is your pfp ruru-chan
@@ariannatroutlake6479 It's not "ruru-chan" she's Rorochan_1999 and you should pay her a bit more respect due to what her situation was and what she did. Don't contradict my decisions when you can't even back up your own.

I love how she says 'Human Disqualification' and that's the name of Togami's Execution if he were to get one ^^
Yo I saw dazais name and the no longer human lol
After Danganronpa V3, people who thought about Toko will get another view.
"let's buy a lemon bomb!" okay wow
I can see fukawa or genocider syo there hmmm...
idk who fukawa is but i know that another form of genocider syo is based off the girl in this video
thats also literally the only thing i know about dangan rompa lmao
WAIT fukawa is the person i was talking about
it's her
ahahaha you got me there XD frizzleomega
+frizzleomega omg I learned something omgggg thank you
im
this song reminds me of The Candy spooky theater - Murder factory in the closet
this song is literally literature-madness *A*
Does the novel Korokoro have any to do with the rin/len video?
+Mistress Meloetta Nah,The Kagamine's song was 'Kokoro' while this one is 'Korokoro'
After hear this, I feel "funny"....
IT EVEN LOOKS LIKE HER JEEZ
phhhTTT wait i wrote the phrase from the description wrong im sorry world that was embarassing
ok syo
The first thing that come to my mind when i read the title is...
Yeah?? It's been 11 years, don't keep us waiting
Could this be refrencing to Murder Case at The Mansion of Antiquarian Books? Both of the characters have braids and it seems likely someone would go insane if they read too many murder books.
