As to the Berbekucz steel wasters: I can recommend them, from my own experince. My club uses them since 2007. I had a Ballinderry copy made by Berbekucz back in 2009. A stage combat weapon, a bit heavier and made out of 57SiCr7 spring steel. It has seen more than 700h of training, blade on blade, against shield, reenactment armour, droppping on stone, dirt, mud and gravel during Living History events and so on. Even filthy Open Historical Monument Day visitor peasants touched my steel! :P It is still one of my favourite training swords. With some care after use, those blades literaraly last forever. Weapons from other Eastern European makers broke during training sessions and even public presentations. Berbekucz blades: never. Not once from 2007 until now, with more than 200 different participants, and blades from stage combat style, historical reproductions to HEMA wasters. I recently ordered a similar Messer with wooden handle which should arrive within a few days. I'm confident it will be durable in HEMA practice. Here in Europe their blades are known for good heat treatment. And they cost a little less than in Canada, I fear.

The shame is that I had the Purple Heart Kriegs Messer, but mine did break. From the one I had, I was able to see that they took out considerably more material than necessary to fit the guard, since it was secured by having part of it going through the blade, and the stress from a flat parry was enough to break it right at the guard.

Have you reviewed the Penti synthetic longswords or arming swords? I would love to see a comparison of those too. I liked the comparison to steel but especially the blackfencer. I wish that would have been more in depth. Maybe a whole video on the comparison of current synthetics like the new blackfencer and penti IV and others that are out there. Enjoyed the video. Cheers 🍻

Since their steel messers have no pommel, maybe in the nylon version they could remove it or replace it with plastic one and fit under $100.
I think that "hockey stick tape" could work nicely for the blade (reapplied for each session ofc).

Could they maybe embed a bit of lead (or other dense metal) within the nylon near the tip? Add weight, and balance them more realistically..

I can't believe he removed the editing mistake. I thought this video was completely maintenance free.

Strange my great-grandfather's Messer has always been declared light in the blade, his response was always ( But I like cocobolo handles, they take such a beautiful polish.). He is most definitely right about the polish. I am quite familiar with the citizens knife the long citizens knife and the grossly long citizens knife. I practically grew up carving them out of the red oak trees abouts the family farm. And when my first car finally gave up the ghost the torsion rods became my mesters. And being raised with five medcerts that had been passed down 4 and 5 generation to draw my experiences from. Dandies carried heavy blades, and duelist carried light blades, moreover the width and curve of blade is always attached to the practiced form of cut-and-thrust. The stories are still told passed down in my family with each of the five blades having both a style name and a surname, (to imbue the blade with purpose), ((Harm&Smit),(Smit&Harm),(True-Harms),(Dasher the Smiter),(Butters Smith)).
As the first choice of blade shape I'm most at home wilding are the Cavalry saber. I harrow kmagel the knife, Harm&Smit. Truly it is a Dandy blade and I am more than happy to take you on two at a time for I have no time for this battle, I'm late to my smithery where I pound links to keep the dragon at peace. I judge you a Butters Smith. After watching you for the last year-and-a-half. My advice is simply this ( stop using your pointer finger when your thumb will both guards you and turn your blade. In one-handed Sword Play, keep the wrist nimble, draw more power from your shoulder, and let the elbow hinge as it may. Otherwise your blade is too heavy for your style of fighting. You lock your elbow forcing your wrist to take the strain of your blade thrue the pointer finger. Welcome to the stiff wrist and tennis elbow. Retraining yourself will be a serious pain in the neck, (hot paacks and Absorbing Junior work wander). for your shoulder I suggest archery to strengthen it. Specifically traditional Mongolian short Bow, as you prefer a heavy blade it will be useful to strengthen that thumb 👍 while you train yourself to keep your elbow wrist your pointer finger at rest.
I prefer a slightly lighter curved blade wide with a drop point.
It is actually quite funny how my surname is Harms I prefer to carry a Harm&Smit.
My surname is straight to the point yet my battle style is quite edgy. Almost as much as yours.
By the way your test cussing is what is killing you keep your elbow high and twist that wrist! I am a 52 year old blacksmith without tennis elbow. And when I stand on the battlefields I stand with the Gross Messer Harm&Smit and Kite Shield.
We were both born with the same mental condition yet I think mine out on the Forge you take medicine. I think maybe because they have one name for maybe a dozen or more conditions although I must admit I was a ritalin baby. These days my Highs are higher and my Lowes Lower, but these days I also see my highs. Is allowed me to build a custom fitted saddle for my dragon, rather than having the custom-fitted satellite pull-on every morning. It does not hurt a b that she is so patient with me. Most of all it seems she knows the difference between inside of the cave and outside of the cave when it comes to the controlling of her wings and I must admit it was not my training but that it was already her standards so she has no problem reminding me I controlling my ear the ways she would a horses giving no tell to anybody else but delivering the answer to me quite clearly. Oh God how I married the perfect woman nobody else could tolerate me.

i wonder if it would be a good idea to drill small holes down the flat of the synthetic messers then press in and epoxy cap lead weights? i wouldn't think that it would cause a durability problem if done well.

Good video but a bit disappointing you didn't go into the maintenance requirements for these blades.

What about thick leather blades with a steel/fiberglass bar inside? It wouldn't slide when colliding with other swords, it would be thinner and cooler if you ask me

Say, any chance you might get to review a practice targe and broadsword?
