Omg ‘free candy’! 😂 haha... I spit my coffee out. Wonder if anyone will be inspired at a future model show. 🤔🙊
He got me too. I am definitely going to build it as a curbside "free candy" mobile.
You make using the sharpie on the window trim look so easy. I have yet been able to do it in one shot, and I usually have to go back and touch up the places where I slipped. 👍
OMG, I love the free candy idea.
Had this kit when I was kid cant wait to build one again
Thanks again, I can see where I'll be making changes when mine finally gets delivered and I get around to the build. Much appreciated Sir.
I can finally build this model again! I have one in the stash, but the decals are missing. Now I can have a whole new one again! Nice Job and Way to go, Round 2!
Love the options this kit gives you. I think it would make a good candidate for a Road Warrior type vehicle or something like that. The off-road tires look really cool. Maybe kit bash it with left over parts from a military vehicle? Only I don't see any 1/25th scale military vehicles but hey, 1/35th parts could work possibly. I like what Round2 seems to get that others may not, that there are modelers out there who like to deviate from the box art. You know, to make it even more your own, something unique. Gets the creative juices flowing boy. Nice job and fun to watch.
“Write free candy on the side to be the creepiest guy at the model show” lmao 🤣 😂🤣 That cracked me up Chris!! Awesome work as always buddy ☺️👍
Reminds me of a junky camper truck I once saw with the bumper sticker “Don’t laugh, your daughter might be in here!” Right next to another stating “I’m so horny I get a rise from the crack of dawn”. Funny, but scary!
@@davenelson8187 yeah mate, don’t want to see real vans with it on, creepy as
I remember the 70s van customizing era... my family went from Michigan to Florida every year and a custom Ford van. Dad built it all himself. Hideaway beds card table. Closet, refrigerator, everything including a kitchen sink.
Always enjoy the custom vans!!! ✌☮👍
Back in 75 I used parts from other models to turn a van into a 4x4 van . Long before I knew they even had them. I spent countless hours creating models that I liked.
I know i built a few of these back in the 70s. The roof used to completely cut out so you could customize the interior.
I just knew you had to do this one! It’s a great kit!
Dude. The back story is awesome. Cracked me up.... Little River Band c'mon.
Love the back storys of the builds I remember doing the same thing telling my mother all about it while she'd be yepping me lol
Remarkable work Chris!... Your friend Tom from Ottawa Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
🙂👍
LOOKS AMAZING AND COOL CHEVY VAN.!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤗
Maybe the next one of these you build, you could cut out the rear doors, or side sliding door, and build it up as a serf beach machine.
Another great review and build.
A great 70s van build! I've been waiting for this kit to hit the shelves. Great build Chris!
Tom S.
Great build and presentation on this AMT Chevy van! I love the color choices, custom grill and bumpers!! Outstanding Chris!! I've got this on backorder, keep having fun!!
That's funny that you said that. About a being creepy guy at the car show. My grandson said that about the Coke A Cola van. But, instead of free candy he said free ice cream. 😁
Digging the Ramada Inn ashtray lol
“Creepiest guy at the model show…” Sounds like a new award for the IPMS Nats…. Chris, you’re a hoot!
Oh yeah ! Far out ... van man !
Groovy build dude ! 😇👍🏼
Lots of parts for a Mad Max style of car if you´re building one :D
They used lots of custom van parts on the cars in the original movies
Later this year I need to buy 3 of this kit. So many options.
Great build loved the color scheme. Only draw back was due to your music choice my wife wants to find some bell bottoms and go roller skating and I'm looking on ebay for a disco ball. Keep on trucking.
Cool metal color!
Time to add another van to my collection.
Great build. The thing I dont really care for is not being able to see the interior. I did the Black Jack Van (which I believe is 1/20 scale) and made made the doors opening (which allowed you to see inside) I also used a set of So-Real tires that I had hanging around. You did this kit justice though and it looks Vantastic. Keep up the great work and I'll keep watching.
I’m gonna have to pick one up next month before there gone been a while since a van came out that I wanted
I wish they would bring back the drag van kits again.
Very sharp looking Chevy van, I've got "Dirty Donny's" Vantasy 1975 Chevy van model kit, I built it back in 2012 I made it as the stock 1975 Chevy work van with the steel wheels and hubcaps, if I'm not mistaken amt used this mold for the A-Team van model back in the 1980s😊❤👍
Biggest difference from the kit standpoint besides the 1983 GMC grille insert is the rear plate on the 83 is down in the bumper. I built one way way back but I don't remember how they handled that.
I've still got the Open road camper version of this to finish building.
such awesome custom van kit! lets watch it now!
If they bring back the KISS van I'll lose my damn mind ....and the Farrah Foxy Vette...
@@my12thdong I believe you are correct. I'd have to pull mine down and open the box. From what I remember is that it is also indeed the Chevy long wheel base, but AMT already cut out the port holes in the rear and it had the drip rail along the top edge. It also comes with a big chrome letter "B" instead of a "C". And of course the great Kiss decals from the Destroyer album.
When working on the Foxy Box, wear old sox - so you can use them for weathering later on...
That almost rhymed - I did not know that. But hey, foxy build, "Dude" - er uh Chris.
i have this van half built in another version,it is also the same as the police paddy wagon with different parts i dont remember the box art on mine, but i bought it 2012 i wanna say
What is brush on adhesive? You make it look so easy
Loved the build up on this model but I would have built mine with the sunroof and round porthole windows and also the side pipes
A 70s custom van really needs side pipes
Still as you say
Build for you and your version was still an awesome build
How would I go about making powersteering leaks?
😎
Is there any chance of seeing the The A Team Van reissued, reboxed or repurposed? that seemed to have the best, most modern front end for this generation of chevy van.
Great review and build Chris. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your time and videos. I learn alot. Keep them going.
Might wanna grab this one and do some kit bashing, awesome job as usual Chris!
Hey HpiGuy..lol...
What is the technical use of MOD PODGE?
I've never used it before in all my years (40+ ha ha)of modeling, does it go clear?
Your friend Tom from Ottawa Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Cool kit might have to get one enjoyed the build
No, man, you'd have to be playing that brand new Cheap Trick Live At Budokan 8 track
Great build. I love these van kits. There are so many options. You did a wonderful job on this one. Definitely a wonderful model for your shelf. Thanks for sharing.
LOVE that front grill!
Pretty cool build!
what glue do u use in the red bottle
Do you display these at home on a shelf or sell them online or hobby/craft store?
Incredible work on your Chevy Van Chris! That metallic Copper and the Rose Gold go together nicely! Love the weathering you put into that chassis!
Hey, wait a minute… *I* gave away free candy!
Up here in Montreal Canada..We are losing A LOCAL Hobby Store...The owner has had enough...After 40yrs of service...Plus Model supplies Aren't available...Thanks to All the B.S. Going on in the WORLD!!😑😑😞..Bought has Many Kits that I Could...👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😞😞..Good Bye Hobby Junction..😪
I have enjoyed your videos for so long now. I really enjoy that you give us a play-by-play of the color you choose. The reason you do a base coat and I like you telling us the look that you are trying to achieve with your base coat and your main coat. Also I liked the royalty free music you chose for your video. As always a great build and yet another wonderful video to watch. Very much appreciated and keep up the outstanding work!!! Hi from New Mexico USA 🇺🇸.
Hah hah, loved your story line about keeping the noise on the down low and gettin' in the mood with some CCR, 😍
What glue do you use please
I have been wanting to build an A-Team van, but I've not been able to find an 83 model Vandura, nor an 82. Any ideas of a model that would work for the A-Team van?
As a van model collector, your only option for an 83' GMC van would be the Hardy Boys van model by Revell. Oddly, in the actual show they drove a Chevy van long wheel base. That's about it. An original A-Team model van will cost you a fortune. A few are on Ebay for ridiculous amounts of money. I saw one for almost $500! The price of a nice laptop.
@@dunhill1 yeah I saw that and hung it up.... thanks for the info though!!!
Nice build as always!
I like the chrome trim on the grill, that's a nice touch. And yes this would make an awesome surfer wagon.
Cool stuff
Your work always amazes me.You make it look so easy. They always come out looking amazing .wish mine looked like that.
Awesome Build!! 1975 Good times... Junior year in high school.. :)
Like how you did this one, can just see it going down the road. Thanks again.
Little river band......seriously 😳 lol
Great job Chris 👏 👍 👌 so enjoy your videos 📹 👍 please keep them coming 🙏 and here to help get your videos 📹 😉 out to everyone to enjoy 😉 😀
Great job Chris. Thanks for your review. This van certainly is “Foxy” 🦊 . Thanks for spending the time on your step by step reviews, they are informative and FUN to watch. Stay warm. 😀
That's one mighty fine build Chris. Nice color combo with the decals.
Love how you did that van. I’m wanting to get a couple few of my own and build a before beaten up well used van and a restored version of the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine.
Awesome!
This is just a re-release of the AMT Chevy rescue van, Chevy police van, and I think the groovy van or something. Chris has probably built this kit at least 3 times.
I hate to be negative about this kit. But it isn't good. The instructions are quite lacking. At least on my version there was a ton of flash. The front end is needlessly complicated, and doesn't go together very well. On my personal Facebook I sometimes do reviews of kits. The best way I can describe this kit is using my favorite quote from Full Metal Jacket.
All that being said Chris did an amazing job getting a good build out of this kit.
No CB antenna?
Not outside, it's inside along the roof like I did in my Jimmy back in the day. ;)
That van is wicked bitchin' man...✌😎
Thank you for the build & videos (+ lots of cool memories )
Vans were it in the 70's, my older cousin had a friend with Chevy van....
called "The Slider" in 24K gold leaf lettering on the sides & a sweet Root beer metallic paint, diamond porthole window & deep dish Cragar SS rims...
Great job mate👍
That's actually bong smoke trapped inside those windows 🪟 😕
Nice job on this - had this kit laate 80s or early 90s - I built mine pretty closely to what you done with it (without the decals for some reason) - I remember the version I had had the round window openings near the back on each side
Anything wider than a 15x7 is going to stick out of the fenders like that. You'd have to jack it up to run those size tires in the front, too, or they would rub down where the rocker meets the wheel opening at the front. Experience of owning several real Chevy vans.
Lovely build Chris , love these AMT kits got the Ford custom van to do but at £40 prices are through the roof here in the UK for them
Can we all say; T H A T ‘ S B A D A S S.
Haha, yeah man, some LRB or actually these days they go by Birtles, Shorrock, Goble, and their still pretty darn good too! Anywho, good job there bud, as always!
Oh. Mod Podge Rules OK !!!!!!! 👍
chris is super chromy LOL!!
Hey, we are back into the 70's and modelling. Thanks for all your great reviews and builds. I've been modelling here in England for over 50 years now and have learnt lots of new tricks and tips from your channel. Thanks. Take Care. Chris.
