- Most people want to know how to clean the inside of their pianos. Well, how do you get in there? The strings are in the way! You can try blowing it out with a vacuum, but if it is really dusty that could make a mess and you’re probably not going to get all of the dirt out anyway. bit.ly/2GUY4GJ
Never stop educating the world about Pianos! Your videos are all great!
How to clean your piano:
Step 1: ask someone else to do it
Good advice, Robert. I've known some people who have done damage to their piano's action and popped a few strings (both requiring professional repair) because they pursued too invasive a cleaning method.
I didn't know Luke Skywalker also cleaned pianos. All jokes aside, this is an amazing video. Thanks for sharing!
Very helpful!! I’ve never thought that piano technicians can do the job too! Thanks for sharing!
I have a string cover and I also keep the lid closed 100% of the time. Also installed a piano humidifier/heater on the piano’s underside.
Great tip on steel wool. Let me try it since my 1948 Baldwin middle and upper register strings are with signs of rust. Thank You.
Thanks, Robert. You're the best.
One day, please do a video on caring for your piano in tropical settings. Are any makes of piano better for the tropics? Are non-tropical pianos an oversight of the piano manufacturing industry?
Thanks for the help, it worked (: 👍
I have a keyboard. Why am I here?
Because learning makes no harm
Because you want to have a piano!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
Cause my school's piano is broken
So do I. Several, in fact. And one of them has a baby grand attached to it.
How to clean your lightsaber next?
Lol
Thanks!
So truck wash and a gerni is not recommended?
Thank you so much for your advise. It helps a lot. God Bless you!
And here I sit looking at the inside of my dusty grand piano trying to figure out where to start
Thank you so much for this video!!! I always find myself stressed when it comes to cleaning the Interior of the piano by myself; as some parts are too intricate to reach and they get all dusty... So I have never actually done it by myself. Your advice is right, Im gonna search for a quality technician to clean the action. Cheers Robert. :D
I played a piece on the piano where I had to touch the strings on my grand and tarnished the copper strings with the oils on my hands! Oh no!!!! It doesn't look new anymore! How do I fix this?
Good video Robert... Someone told me of a funny story of an individual at a Nashville recording studio (a non pianist) cleaning the bass strings of a grand piano in the recording studio using Brasso to make the copper strings look shiny... Hmmmm....Needless to say, the strings were ruined and had to be replaced.... Safe bet the person was let go. :)
I need help
I have a full sized upright piano by Roland with a serial number of 16140.
basically want to know more about it if possible.
Piano techicians also subject to muscle & joint pain easily.
Question: How to clean your piano? Answer: Pay someone to do it. Not helpful
My thoughts as well, lol.
It's cheaper than trying to do it yourself and paying to have repairs done.
@@nealfiggy Using your logic why learn anything at all? just give up and stay poor
Great video.
Question:
how do I clean my piano!?!?
Answer:
Don't do it yourself, call a professional
it's a typical salesman answer
I only have a keyboard ;(
I don’t see where any skill is required to remove the action from a piano it’s only held in with a few twist clips and screws I’m not a piano technician however I had no problem removing the action at all , followed by the keys some of which were hardly moving , cleaned and replaced all the parts , piano tuners where I am would laugh at you if you asked them to clean it , I think they are also under the impression they should be payed the same money as a surgeon or senior psychotherapist, they wouldn’t entertain getting dirty , and aren’t in the least bit interested in saving the old pieces of history as they would have to get dirty to do so, on top of that they only want to tune nice new pianos that take them an hour to do, if you tell a piano tuner it’s a circa 1900 they tell you it can’t be tuned and that’s before even seeing it , oh all the strings will snap it’s not worth bothering with, they remind me of people who care for the elderly but don’t give a toss about them and are only there for the money and fastest escape possible . It’s not always a case of if you want your piano cleaning get someone qualified is it ? It’s a case of not everyone owns a Steinway , don’t believe everything people tell you I’m a complete novice never took a piano apart but I had the action out in under two minutes flat , all cleaned to remove dust debris lubricated all joints straightened a few hammers here and there and repaired the damping mechanism , all ready to start tuning it now , the tuner laughed at me when I said I will tune it myself , more money in your own pocket plus you learn how to maintain your own instrument which is something every owner should be able to do without having to contact the nuclear physicist to use a glorified knuckle wrench and 6 or 8mm socket to tighten the pins with the go sharp ease flat method hammer at 12 0 clock . Or the go ape method , I’ve noticed every piano tuner on you tube claims to be higher than god almighty , and charge extortionate prices , get a grip people ,
