    I love how, in the Massengill commercial, the mother just conveniently happens to have a box of douche next to her flower pot…

    • @OofusTwillip
      @OofusTwillip Рік тому

      A responsible mother would tell her daughter that douches are not only completely unnecessary, but are also dangerous because they upset the vagina's natural pH balance, leaving it prone to infections.
      The whole idea of needing to clean it to be "fresh" and "feminine" is extreme misogyny, to shame women into buying these products. Men would never fall for this, which is why there are no equivalent products for them.
      Ask yourself, who's going to be close enough to smell those parts?

    It may be just my bias, but all television looked better when it was shot on film. I was only 3 when this aired, but I love this look.

    What a piece of history right here as this all aired 40 years ago this past Monday. Urban Cowboy's network television premiere on NBC on Sunday May 15, 1983. I believe both of the Paramount hits from 1980 Urban Cowboy and Little Darlings aired on back-to-back weeks on NBC as Little Darlings premiered the week before on Mother's Day.

    Wow, Schick beat Bic? And yet a lot of people on Supermarket Sweep confused Bic for Schick when hearing rhyming clues for the Mini-Sweep and $5,000 Bonus Sweep.

    • @OofusTwillip
      @OofusTwillip Рік тому

      BIC was founded by Marcel Bich. The brand-name is spelled the way "Bich" is supposed to be pronounced, because he knew that English-speakers would pronounce it like "bitch" if he didn't do that.

    Basically, commercials haven't changed in 40 years. Useless GARBAGE that I avoid like the plague.
