    That quote is not from Nelson Mandella, it is from Marianne Williamson.

    Interesting that they play Whitney’s song in the background, I wonder if she was invited to become a member

    paused the video @8:39 I'm sure its only a coincidence that *ALL* those little children passed that certain "test" on the table in front of them.. The serendipity is HEAVY in this one!! (I'm only teasing)

    I live in San Joaquin county and there isn't a chapter here. I always wanted to be a member and I wanted my adult son to be a member but even though at the time I lived in Sacramento, I didn't know anyone who was a member that could invite out family to be members not could I afford the membership dues and fees. Currently my partner and I are in the process of adopting our 4mth old little girl and by the time she is 2 we will be living in Sacramento due to me finishing my education in order to be a motician and funeral director. I don't know anyone who is a member so how would we go about becoming members?

      If you go to the website of the chapter near you they should have a contact person for that.

    brown paper bag test?

    • @Bahia82
      @Bahia82 7 років тому +3

      That was always an exaggerated issue. Even still that hasn't existed since the 40's & 50's

    • @DopeNinja7
      @DopeNinja7 7 років тому +6

      How was it exaggerated? It was well documented and some romance of it still remains today. How do you feel about black people being racist to their own?

    • @Bahia82
      @Bahia82 7 років тому +5

      It wasn't well documented and if you actually research the one's who everyone CLAIMED was doing it said they had no idea at the time those rumors were even around. Yes there were darkskinned Blacks in those groups and yes SOME light skinned people probably thought they were better but for the most part that "paper bag" nonsense has taken a life of its OWN and has been exaggerated. You should also google the world RACIST...it doesn't apply here, prejudice maybe, discrimination maybe but not RACIST. Since your soooo upset about something that happened 70+ years ago, it wasn't till the 60's that Blacks with any skin color could attend Princeton University, yet every Black person pats Michelle Obama on the back for deciding to attend that former RACIST school who had its own paper bag test

      What are you? Are you black, none black? Lightskin brownskinned darkskin?

      As a light-skinned black men I'm embarrassed at what we did to our darker brothers

    Colorism is an issue and Such a shame that Jack and Jill and other bourgeoisie exclude people because of their dark skin. The brown paper bag test was used MOST of the time.

      Girl bye that was suck an exaggerated issue. Both Debbie Allen and her sister were apart of the group and neither is light bright. That was an issue back in the 40's & 50"s its 2017. Most Ivy Leagues didn't accept Blacks back then either so should blacks not attend Harvard in 2017?

      lol Elitism and colorism is still prevalent in these groups. Do you know why the spanish community wealth is growing which scared sh*t out of whites? The hispanic Elites are hiring hispanics, and not just the ones that belong to their frat or soro! Look at those huge company that are run or own by hispanics you will see most the employees are hispanic.

      Your family has to be invited and yes they practice elitism. They use to be very colorist, especially in the South. They pretend to be service oriented but they are butt hurts that couldn't pry their way into white spaces so they made up this organization to keep out other blacks. Saw it with my own two eyes growing up. Went to their regional conferences and dances...the darker skinned girls got MAJOR complexes seeing all those creoles favored over them in Louisiana/Texas. Many of the dark-skinned ones grew up and married white men so their children wouldn't suffer.

      It's not like that anymore. Yes, you still need an invite. The club is clickish meaning only interact with other members. I think it's positive and awesome ... Speaking from experience.
