If I'm in the woods away from people , this is my go to knife. Get it out and play with it. See what it will do. Yesterday I macheted my way through horse weeds, knocked off locust thorns , cleared the brush for a trail cam..
I like the prophylactic handles. I find that once you finger them out they actually work really well in extended use. BTW, Kabar actually copied OKC with that handle design not the other way around.
You're not going to break the tip. It's made from 1075 so it's flexible. I have never seen an Ontario knife with a broken tip, like ever! Ontario changed the steel on their Spec Plus line since after 2015 to 1075 instead of 1095. I just bought an older SP-10 on ebay made from 1095 and I love their old sheaths, the new sheaths look big, ugly, and bulky.
@@clm652 No, on Bladeforums the VP of Ontario Knife's enginneering dept confirmed that Ontario changed all of their non-military contract knives over to 1075 steel. He said, in a nutshell, that based on everyone's penchant for batoning knives today that 1075 holds up better with very little difference in edge holding compared to 1095.
Hey Donnie can you maybe make a video in specifics how you throw your knives at different ranges? I find your knife throwing with these big knives quite impressive. I've tried it with one of my 8 inch bowies and well, i suck at it...at like 2 yards, nevermind 5 haha.
You are the Tom Sizemore of blade reviewers 😂 You look like you could be related and even sound a bit like him...I think he might have had the same haircut in Saving Private Ryan or maybe Blackhawk Down.
@@DonnieBAllDay 😆 DBad, indded you are looking somewhat like Tom Sizemore . I really tike Tom Sizemore, I think is a very good actor ! Slick ! 😉 ( He's addressing formula from."Heat" - great, great movie !!!)
I just realized something, I think this knife is meant to be a tactical version of the crocodile Dundee knife Seriously put this sucker and the outback bowie side by side, There’s quite a bit of similarity in the silhouette, Even in the silhouette of the handle
Man you said the renegade was a good knife Bowie knife well guess what that's a piece of shit compared to this Ontario I got the sp5 and it runs circles around it it's a chopper it's a good defense knife and believe me when I tell you that 1095 steel quarter of an inch thick that thing will chop the door down Ontario's way better way better manufacturer they're up there with K Bar don't confuse your audience k bar Ontario are the best manufacturers in the USA compared to these nice coming out of China man let's get serious I love your videos but man you got to be straight up you got to tell your viewers the truth I don't know what kind of kickback you're getting from these companies but you got to be totally honest with your viewers if you're going to make these videos I said my peace
First, when did I say this wasn't as good as the renegade? Second, not even close to the best made in the US(talking honesty, you should know better than to claim that) and third, I'd take my Asian made Cold Steel Trail master over this thing any day of the week.
I am a luvin my sp5! Splitting kindling, and batonin! Hunkydoty!
its a workhorse

Not a fan of the handles that much. Round handles don't generally make sense.

Can You PLEASE compare the SP5 w/ the BIG BROTHER?

Yeah, I think I have it here
So sad that Ontario and its big bowies are now gone forever

The older sheaths were much better.
Totally! Especially on the SP-10, it made it look badass!!
@@ricev7071 No, it's 1095. ontarioknife.com/fixed-blades/spec-plusr-series/sp-5-bowie-knife.html
@Jon Bradfield whatever. I you want to argue with the facts on Ontario's website that's up to you. It says 1095, not sure why they'd lie about it.
