I saw a grand total of 4 whale sharks in that one tank. That is so amazing and crazy at the same time. How in the universe are you able to put four whale sharks, the largest shark in the world, in one tank. Absolutely amazing.
wow amazing if i ever go to atlanta i will come here i love aquariums. just curious how much bigger is this tank compared to the big tank in monterey aquarium
@pannkakaize if you look at the whale sharks tails, the top fin is bigger than the bottom, this means that they are slow swimmers and the captivity isnt that big of a problem, and look into the tank, you can see that theres fish in there as far as the eye can see
according to their site...With 4,574 square feet of viewing windows, a 100-foot-long underwater tunnel, 185 tons of acrylic windows and the second largest viewing window in the world at 23 feet tall by 61 feet wide and 2 feet thick, visitors will have multiple opportunities to view all of these magnificent animals.
You joke, but I seriously wondered if it isn't overstocked - after all, we can't see how wide the tank is and how far back it does to really get a sense of the depth of the whole thing...and there's tons of schools of smaller fish in there along with what looks to be actual SHARKS...I wouldn't be surprised if it IS crowded.
Heres how to remove every fish in that aquarium: 1. Go back 1 million years 2.capture a megaladon shar 3.put it in the tank 4.watch the water quickly turn red
that tank alone is 8million gallons and when there to large they return them to the wild. dont worry georgias aquarium is one of the few that looks after the fish properly.
No doubt they know they are in captivity, as they obviously can't make their migratory journey in a tank, but there are plenty of sharks kept healthy in even home aquariums. But these guys are a lot bigger than your average "home" shark.
i have lived in atlanta for 12 years and went to the aquarium 30 times and every time i go there is always a new attraction
Beautiful creatures. I have learnt to appreciate them more since I started scuba diving
Georgia Aquarium was a GREAT experience. I recommend visiting.
I used to live in Atlanta and the aquarium is awesome they have all kinds of sharks, a moving sidewalk and just awesome things to do
My god.. this is astonishing. I'd be so happy if we had this aquarium here...
Adding this to my bucketlist
been there 37 times and I love it every time I go
Holy crap, that's huge! This makes any other aquarium tank seem like a mere fish bowl. O.O

This is about the coolest part of the aquarium. Nice place for the fam.

I want that in my room, it's so relaxing to look at
having a whale shark means serious big ass tank
"dude, are u kiddin me right now? GET A BIGGER TANK!!!" lol
Imagine if it was just a cinema screen and they told every1 it was a aquarium lmao
nice , what love to see in real life , looks amazing :)
those must be the happiest fish/sharks ever.. watch how they all go towards the bubbles lol.
I have been to the Georgia Aquarium it is beautiful. If I were a Billionair I would own an Aquarium like that.
Not sure for the main glass but the tunnel is 8 inch thick acrylic
what net do you use to move the whale sharks for cleaning?
What I really want to know is how thick that acrylic is, assuming it is acrylic because a sheet of glass that big is not likely.
Do you know how thick the window is?
Awesome ! Biggest tank in Europe is in the uk but is small in compared to this one ! Wow. Whale sharks.
@daveiba omg, 2 football fields long, how you made somthing like that??
How do you feed this? with a dump truck?
Who does the water changes?
@JL3Wind its "many" and those bubbles are from all the scuba divers.
how thick is that glass ?
@Saiyanwarriorcatgirz that size? it's more likely 3-6 inch thick acrylic.
You must need a pretty big bucket to do the water changes
i wonder what kind of filtration that thing needs
That's a lot of instant ocean buckets... :>
@pannkakaize if you look at the whale sharks tails, the top fin is bigger than the bottom, this means that they are slow swimmers and the captivity isnt that big of a problem, and look into the tank, you can see that theres fish in there as far as the eye can see
Wow, I'd kill to be able to get inside a tank like that with a waterproof camera.
Is that a shark with a horn, in the middle at 2:05?
and I´d like to know how thick the glass is
HAHAHA XD that whale shark got smacked in da face slow mo, this is an amazing tank
@jl3Dc5 i think they're called water fish.
how many gallons is that? ( if any one knows)
OMG!!!! i want that aquarium! it's bigger than my room.
@LookGnarly It can't smash, its not glass. It's basically very compressed clingfilm, plasic wrap if your american (I think).

Next time I go there I'm carrying a sledge hammer lol
Welcome to the Internet, hon. Enjoy your stay.
...one of my favourite places.
how do i get a job there as a scuba diver?
It has 6.3 million gallons of water in it.........this place is huge.
I don't know why but i wanna see the filtration system..
I totally agree with that! They can keep the smaller fish, but give the whalesharks freedom.
what part of the tour does the whale eat the swimmers in there?
How to aereate the water in a monster tank :
Add 10 divers with scuba gear, laugh as the shark eats them ! :D
love this!:)
that tank alone is 8million gallons. and the entire aquarium covers 25acres of floor space.
We spent about 2 hours just watching this part of the aquarium.
Wonder what their filteration system looks like o.o
What if the glass breaks?
You joke, but I seriously wondered if it isn't overstocked - after all, we can't see how wide the tank is and how far back it does to really get a sense of the depth of the whole thing...and there's tons of schools of smaller fish in there along with what looks to be actual SHARKS...I wouldn't be surprised if it IS crowded.
@MrImGerman it isnt glass its some sort of super plastic that is like 12 feet thick i went for a GATE trip in 09 and it was awesome
50 gallons?
They are small ones, not the monstrous 38 footers that you normally think of
:)
Heres how to remove every fish in that aquarium:
1. Go back 1 million years
2.capture a megaladon shar
3.put it in the tank
4.watch the water quickly turn red
It's a 6.4 million gallon tank. They say you should keep one inch of fish per gallon. Anyone know how many inches long a whale shark is?
@LCha921 Lol I also noticed the whale shark on the right, right after it's collision turned entirely to the opposite to where it's going.
It keeps coming in my mind that with a earthquake.... o my god i dont even wanna think what would it happen if that aquarium would break
but where is nemo?
My oscar would eat most of those fish.
That thing has got to be fucking massive.. 3 Whale Sharks? Can't believe I never went here when I lived in Atlanta.
that tank alone is 8million gallons and when there to large they return them to the wild. dont worry georgias aquarium is one of the few that looks after the fish properly.
WHALE SHARK!? Awsome...
Thats like a window to the ocean! Wow
they must using a fluval FX5 external filter for that ;)
Imagine how happy 10 clownbotia's would be :)
How sad to have all those whale sharks in such a small place. These are pelagic fish that live alone in the open ocean.
holy fuck how is it even possible to make a sheet of glass that big? Steve Jobs would be impressed.
still isn't enough room for whale sharks. They're bumping into each other in there
how many gal`s per whale shark is this tank?
I'd totally go fishing in there
we are the ones in the glass box. they just made an ocean around it lol
that shark didn't have a horn, it had a saw, that was a Saw Shark
Huge and beautiful
WHOA thats one big ass tv!!!
It's glass..? damn i thought they'll use acrylic for this scale..
That's crazy and amazing!
Sad to see whale sharks in captivity, so sad.
God damn were do they get all of that water??! I dont think theres a tetra whale filter (aquarium humor)
@bigtim50 Wikipedia says 8,000,000 gallons
Aquamans Secret Headquarters
is that a basking shark i can see in there or just a very big nurse shark? lol
how many whale sharks are in that thing?
This makes me 5 gallon tank look big
This looks like Singapore sentosa sea aquarium
I don't want THAT water bill.
IT HAS FCKING WHALE SHARK???!!! HOW DID THEY CATCH THOSE????
imagine housing some great white sharks in there? that would b something
That's not a whale, but a whaleshark.
That big one might think your food!
:-)

i wouldve put in my little guppy and called him flippy
i wish i could set my living room up in there.
I would love to scuba dive in there.
