i remember when somebody figured out that connecticut highway tokens were the same size and weight as NYC subway tokens but cost less and then all these people from connecticut starting using them in the subway and ripping off the city and they had to change the size or shape so they couldn't do it anymore, the good old days when you could get away with anything.
NYC looked more gritty and better back then. The build quality of the token booths and other structures were incredibly solid. Don't care what any stats might say, NYC looked safer back then.
Those trains looked beautiful back then!!

that went for pretty much everything laundromat as well parking meters lol
Tokens? You didn't need to cheat the tokens, just be in good shape and time the train entering the station before leaping the turnstile, lol.
I remember the 50 cent fare as a child riding these trains. I can't imagine paying $0.50 today for Subway fare. I remember those seven train cars.
LUV THE 70's NYC SUBWAYS 😁👍🏻👍🏻
The days when the trains entered and left fast, not like the snails they are today

I can't wait for the boxed set of these classics!

50 cents....that's what the ride is worth now...
THIS WAS WHEN COPS WERE ON THE TRAINS NOT HANGING AROUND THE TURNSILES
Old subway tokens cost 50 cents
U can't get anything for 50 cents today. Times have changed
I remember when they were 35¢.
Back in the 1970s and much of the 1980s, that was cheap. I think by the start of the 80s, fares were raised to 75 cents.
Nice video!! The 50 Cent fare places this video 1975-1980.
This is amazing.
I will take tokens over the Metrocard in a heartbeat!

I'll never complain about a train delay again.
