No need to farm. If you put all your energy in decks and talk to the aids in the lab's main room one of them gives you 10 of each energy, and you can do that twice easy. Then you have more than enough of each energy to build whatever deck you want. Though I get why not everyone would want to do that since it's an exploit.

You should absolutely put Kangaskhan into the deck - it's a phenomenal wall to build up behind. 90HP and a 1-energy attack that lets you draw a card. I think the number of Pikachu/Raichu should probably come down too, as Raichu really isn't very good. It's energy costs are far too high for how comparatively little damage it can do.

This is just my opinion, but I think the issue is that you have too many trainer cards that are too situational like Fuji, recycle, revive and so on. They are not necessarily bad, but having too much of them leads to you drawing cards you can't when you need to draw a pokemon or energy. I say, drop the revive, recycle and fuji and replace them for more pokemons or energy.
So lucky to get Pokemon Breeder and Kangaskhan this early. I put 32 hours into this game after watching this series to get all the cards and I still only have 1 Kangaskhan and 2 Breeders
During battles, when you have the cursor over a card in your hand, a Pokemon in the active or on the bench, or a move in the attack menu, you can press Start to jump straight to the card info.
It's no surprise that your matches start going better as soon as you get a pokemon like Electabuzz out there. He's part of the Haymaker meta for a reason.

Maybe I'm just a weird player/viewer, but I'd enjoy a Crusher Rematch, where he plays the deck and then builds a deck not for The Meta but specifically to crush That Guy. It quietly gives people an understanding of very slightly higher-tier deck construction, assuming it's not revolving entirely around type bonuses. For instance bringing a second Energy Removal vs the guy with Flamethrower, to maximize your odds of getting rid of the double-colorless and shutting it down. I dunno, I'm the kind of viewer who enjoys seeing players talk through their thought process in strategy games. Lucky for me Jared tends to be the kind of player who likes to explain why he's going with a certain strat.
Jared, you need more energies in your deck. Rule of thumb is to have around 25-30 (at the very minimum, 20). If you need energy, face the guy from the beginning (Sam). You'll use his tutorial deck, and when you win, he'll give you a booster full of energy cards. Most people play against Aaron in the lab, but Sam is easier and guaranteed wins
I must disagree. ;) The problem *is* what Jared is running, but not that he needs more than 20 Energy (20 is the "Training Wheels" level for a beginner's deck). Jared is still learning how to play Energy so he might need to avoid multi-Energy Type decks in the first place. He also needs more draw/search power, and fewer *different* Pokémon Evolution lines. I mean, this is while keeping with Jared's preferred style of playing the game. If he was playing a competitive Haymaker, Rain Dance, Turbo Wiggly, or Beatdown (backed by Muk) deck, Rain Dance _might_ call for more like 16-20 Energy, with the rest varying from 8 to 18 depending on the specifics.

Jared keep playing the game how you like, I’m just going to give you some tips for an easier time. You need energy BAD, so there’s a guy in the science club how gives out nothing but energy cards. You can get more bills and oaks in Colosseum packs, there’s that girl with pikachu cards who gives them out. And lastly you need better basic Pokémon if you’re playing around a stage 1 and 2 play style.
After watching this series i just had to get to play it. Decided to go Bulbasaur at start but ditched them for a nidorino heavy "grass" + water deck instead. GB versions of Jolteon and Flareon work only on neutral energy and i wrecked both rock and fire gyms within an hour. Gosh though, its one enjoyable game!
So I decided to dust off and boot up my old copy of this and made a "Rainbow" deck. Basically every color is represented (and to get around the obvious energy problems, every Pokemon in the deck is able to attack with all Colorless energy). It's done surprisingly well so far. Also reminder that you can replay the tutorial duel to get all-Energy booster packs. And I figured out that the trigger to get Dr. Mason to mail you a booster pack is to talk to the Club Leaders. You don't have to duel them, or even get a prompt to duel, just talk to them.
As amusing as this series is (as well as nostalgic) it really hurts seeing the "Mana" struggle. I remember early on learning that since energy cards are disposable that nearly 1/3 of the deck or more should be energy cards.
That kid who wants your extra energy tips you off to a hidden Slowpoke promo card. The one from "Punched in the Face". Thing is, you can literally just make a deck out of all but one of your spare energy and whatever else cards it takes to get to 60, give him that one energy, then dismantle the spare deck and you're fine. Card's kinda bad tho, IIRC. Only really for if you wanna 100% the game.
When I played I put a set of energy search and energy removal, 23 energy cards in my deck, and for Pokemon I put a set of starters with 2-3 stage 2 Pokemon, and 1-2 final stages.

Pokémon has no optional mulligan, only a mandatory one due to the rule about a player losing when they have no Pokémon in play. You only take a mulligan in Pokémon if your opening hand has no Pokémon you may legally put into play during the pre-game setup; if it didn't, you'd just lose before Player 1 even drew a card at the start of their first turn! The penalty for mulliganning in Pokémon is your opponent may draw up to one extra card for each of your mulligans (up to *two* extra, in the original rules). The video game Jared is playing has no such penalty. Regardless, the MtG method doesn't work for Pokémon. The mandatory and optional mulligan rules would clash, creating a potential nightmare to resolve... and possibly an exploit. Remember, Pokémon (both past and present) has the kind of draw/search you just don't see without a hefty (or heftier) cost. seems like Gust of Wind and Energy Removal would be excellent cards to have for this... Gym? Club? Against these people considering how many Pokemon have either low cost for high power or remove energy for high damage.
The thing is, in the Pokemon TCG there is an official mulligan; it's when you don't have any basic Pokemon in your starting hand, which forces you to shuffle and redraw your hand. Otherwise, you can't start the game.
Boy this was painful, I think you should have around 20-22 Energy cards in your deck. 3 copies tops for every basic Pokemon and 2 of each evolution stage. Trainer cards I leave to your consideration. BEAT THEM ALL MAN!
Jared should probably have about 12-16 Energy *but* have the draw, search, and recycling Trainers he needs to easily access them. As for Pokémon, history says otherwise. Jared has too many different Evolution lines in his deck; notice how first game he had two Evolving Pokémon and two Stage 1 Pokémon *but* none that went together! If it is the focus of a deck, a Stage 1 Evolution line should be 3-3, 3-4, or 4-4... especially for someone still learning like Jared. A Stage 2 is more complex because Pokémon Breeder should be part of the list. If a Stage 2 is important, no _less_ than three copies of its Basic Stage or 3 copies of the Stage 2 itself. Should be at least one copy of the Stage 1 and one copy of Pokémon Bredder; after that, another one or two copies of Pokémon Breeder.
@@KamisamanoOtaku well I think it's easier to grind for Energy cards at Mason's Lab than grinding for draw and Computer Search, but at any case I think you're right.

@@victorcordova3065 You're absolutely right about the grinding for basic Energy cards at Mason's lab, my friend. :) I *do* recommend beginners run about 20 Energy, so Jared should make sure he has 20 of each basic Energy. *More* if he doesn't want to share between decks.
Your deck should be at least one third energy. You have 17 and you should have about 20 plus. Preferably around 23
Water deck OP imo.
I started playing this on my phone cause of this series. So thanks Jared also the counflips are bullshit.
Has anyone Told Jerd he can farm more energy from the assistant that taught the game's rules?
If you go back to the Lab, there's an Aide you can duel who'll give you 2 boosters packs that contain only energy if you win.
Man, Adam's good.
You need a flying deck :^)
*inserts burn to the ground meme*
Wow, UA-cam. I got an ad on here for "Super Adam Adventure" mobile game which was literally a bonus level from Super Mario Bros. Have some goddamm standards.
Plz play this entire game
Just a bit of heads up Jared, you have too many Pokemon but not enough to support them.
5 minutes in and I'm questioning how steep your energy - trainer - mons balance is. Seems like at least in this match the balance is way off
Yeah... this is a bad deck. I know it’s not totally your fault since you can’t share cards between decks, but still
Maybe you should try a Water Deck for that club?
You are going through a bad energy card drought.
Like and subscribe for more shitty decks!
