Loved your video, you didn't quite make it to Garstang but to the border of Claughton on brock and Catterall. Garstang is another couple of miles further on. Looking at the speed you were going you may well have passed me like I was standing still. Great stuff.

Thanks Terry, you're right but it's more or less Garstang for the video title 😁. We are always cycling around these parts and over to the Trough .
I have one more cycling video to edit where we went through Garstang on the way to Fleetwood.

Yeah good day Saturday. We hit 45mph (72kmh) on the descent. Stay tuned.

Loved your film. Wish I could do that mileage and speed. Respect. Just one thing; anything north of
Preston is North Lancashire. Not West Lancashire that’s Southport and Ormskirk etc. I’m born and bred in Lancaster.

Thanks for watching Sophie. I used the term West Lancashire mainly because in my home town of Rochdale there is a cycling club called West Lancs RC as well as the East Lancs RC lol. Stay tuned for many more cycling videos.

MrDazp1 you might get someone from Garstang calling it central Lancs so I’d bow to their better even more local knowledge.
Question; I ride a Dawes Galaxy but I’m thinking of getting a carbon racer. What difference will that make? In terms of speed and my max mileage. I can do 45-50 in a morning ATM. Like the look of your summer bike BTW.

@@sophiescyclingandwalkingch4294 Hi Sophie, great question. A carbon road bike will put a smile on your face every time you ride it for sure which can only be a good thing. My alloy Hybrid (flatbar) bike is between 3 to 5 minutes slower on a local 20 mile training loop versus my racing bike, no matter how hard I try to make it go. So on a 100 mile ride that's 15 to 20 mins lost !Aero dynamic frames and deeper section wheels will help but the biggest factor to go faster for longer will be clothing. Loose baggy fabric will be the easiest problem to fix before spending big bucks. 45 - 50 miles is a respectful distance so I would say keep doing more of the same and build up your endurance over the next year. BTW if you ride in a group with other people of a similar ability you should be able to collectively ride further and quicker if you share the work and all do a bit on the front. Keep an eye on Mike ( Manchester wheelers top) in my vids, he's always on the back - free wheeling lol. Any advice just ask. Cheers.

Thanks for the prompt reply and good advice. Better get ready to part with some cash. I fancy a Bianchi.

@@sophiescyclingandwalkingch4294Probably one of the best looking bikes out there at the mo. I can recommend a great bike shop that deals with Bianchi in Rawtenstall. 'Ride on' Craig is a fountain of knowledge there and has sent his mechanics out to Italy to test the bikes from the factory.

Thanks might take you up on that. I’m on holiday in a week my plan was to hire a decent bike while away rather than use the free bikes at our resort and get the feel of a carbon bike.

Best of luck. Consider getting a sportive setup rather than a racing geometry. You will get more comfort for longer rides but still maintain all the advantages of lightweight performance. My two carbon set ups are sportive with nice gear ratios for climbs etc (compact) and an out n" out thoroughbred electric gear shifting race bike. Both are made by Raleigh. Good luck...

Yep, I’ve got my stem as high as possible on my Galaxy. I enjoy a more upright riding position. Planning a ride for tomorrow Heysham to Milnthorpe and back heading into the Lune valley on the return. I go very early eg 7 am. The forecast had improved. Have a good one if you guys are out and about.
