But hey, any fair minded, responsible person would have the same reaction. So when that happens you gotta expect that Coco Peru's love isn't gonna be quite as pure as normal for a while.

I too want young people to know that you can have a long happy life, you just have to go after what you want out of life and as Coco says, when you see others being hurt or hurting themselves please seek help or offer to help others. It gets better: My story All through my school years, I was bullied. I was always the shortest kid in class (topped out at 5' 2"), smart, teacher's pet (nice, but it didn't help, nor did my last name), closeted (I did everything I could to hide that, probably unsuccessfully). Graduated, left town, and went to college. A couple of year's in, I befriended a grad student who just happened to be a lesbian (we had the same major). She made me feel safe, and myself. She's still my best friend. She was the first person I came out to. She placed a hand on mine and said sweetly, "We've always known. We were just waiting for you to realize." Fast forward.a few years, and I attend her birthday party. And I noticed this really cute guy and I chatted him up. Turns out he's an undergrad at the same university, and about to graduate the same major. We talked and talked, amazed how many interests we had in common, until we realized that everyone else had left. We went on a date on week later. Fast forward 36 years later, and we're still together. And married, to boot. It really, REALLY does get better. Trust me.
We met some 20 or so years ago in P-Town, we hugged and exchanged a few kind words. I walked away with my friends, knowing it was a pure moment of sharing that love we all have to offer one another. You've never changed, nor I. It's our duty as people to JUST try and make someone smile or feel more than, if even for that moment. I'll never forget those few minutes shared. Love to you Coco🥰

One of the problems, the bully doesn't have the capacity for self awareness. They just know that they feel bad and they want others to feel bad. I know it's hard to take that in if you are the target of a bully but it is simply the truth. The bully might as well be standing in front of a mirror when they say and do hateful things because that is who they really hate.

In many ways after years of fighting it feels like we're going backward and that sucks. But it's also not new, unfortunately. Every time any minority group gains ground over the years, there comes a time when there is a giant pushback. And we pull through and make it through and we keep on fighting like we always have. For me, that is what is tiring. Through all our wins and fall-downs and get-backs-ups, there is always another fight to be had. I don't think there will ever be a time when we are 100% on solid ground where we will have calmness and peace and be able to just be. And it can be hard to be positive and live a happy life when you have to fight all along the way just to exist. It's hard but not impossible. I wish I could speak from a place such as you, Coco where I have found my people and it feels like "it got better" but I can't just yet. As a teen living in rural Ohio just at the start of social media, I thought I'd just enter the LGBT community and it would be great but when I did I realized the community isn't just some homogenous group. There are racists, body-shamers, transphobes, misogynists, like everywhere else, and just those who may live in a manner far different than your own. I hope someday to find my people and feel like I am in a far more positive space inward and outward so I can try to share the hope that you do in all your videos.

I really needed to hear this today and I’m pushing 40. There is so much hate and turmoil and toxicity in today’s society. I’ve almost had to delete all of my social medias to avoid it. This month has been especially hard for me because a dear friend of mine has been sick, but he finally gets to come home tomorrow. I get to go pick him up from the facility tomorrow morning. I feel totally and completely drained… but knowing I get to see him tomorrow combined with the kind words you just shared in this video, I feel a little better. A few days ago, a local LGBTQ+ welcoming church near me was defaced, the usual garbage, but what shocked me is the next day all kinds of people showed up to clean it up and repaint, adding new art, needed repairs. In two days, it looks beautiful again! People can change, well a good portion of them anyway, and they change because of people like you Coco! I am one of them also and am more joyful because of people like you. I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart, and your right, it does get better! We only need to report things that are harmful, like others harming you or you harming yourself. The Trevor Project sounds wonderful! You ARE loved and you ARE and ALWAYS will be enough!
