This is great n all, but can microsoft not just add the ability to create field params in warehouses or lakehouse etc. I am currently building out a warehouse and it's the only thing i need that i can't do without creating a local model in my desktop editor. Working with external tools is not really and option for me.
Hi Patrick. Thanks for the amazing workaround. There's still a problem with using tabular editor to create field parameters. that is, after I create the field parameters in this way, I can't access the "Edit Tables" option. After clicking this, it says "We couldn't fetch your warehouse schema". I could only solve this through deleting the field parameter. So until everything in the development has completed, we can't build & use field parameters in this way. Kindly let me know if you have any suggestions.
Hi Patrick, I'm unable to select columns from multiple tables in the Tabular editor even though there is a relationship between them. Do I need to turn on any settings for multiple selections. I'm using Tabular editor 2.21.1 version. Please help!!
Thank you! This worked perfectly. Do you know when Microsoft started supporting field parameters in Direct Lake models? I saw in July 2024 documentation for Direct Lake that field parameters are now supported, but wasn't sure when that went into effect.
Is this only possible with the "Enterprise Edition" of TE3? I have the Desktop Edition and nothing comes up when I open the "load semantic model" menu.
I tried this method but with calculation groups instead - unfortunately I found that if the data in the lake house changes then after a while the report starts falling back to direct query 😮 has a change been made recently to stop this happening?

Makes me wonder if the same steps can be used to create field parameters in a Live connection? 🤔

Interesting, so the calculated table for field parameter will be in import mode and other tables in DirectLake?
I’m having this issue too. I don’t want to use 3rd party software though for business reasons.
Nice one.Hope this "recalculate/Calculate table" in TE is similar to recalculate option in SSMS .

Ya, I also only have the desktop and I think we're out of luck as you have to have at least the Business subscription to connect through XLMA.

Use TE 2 the free version which allows you to connect to XMLA endpoint and save the changes back.
❤Super
No, I’m trying to get you in trouble but which one of you is Pinky?
You can tell me at the fabric conference
Excelent video!!!
hm... using an external code that is written in an old programming language (c#) seems like given up on security altogether :)
