I closed my eyes and suddenly I was six years old and rubbing my eyes awake. It’s summertime. I’m watching the orange sun begin to peak from behind the trees. I’m at my grandparents trailer house, I know they’re both sound asleep and just out of sight. It’s Saturday and I feel safe and comfortable.
Oh man, so do I! Every morning I'd hear those mourning doves, what has the world come too that we have to hear it on our phones if we want to hear that precious coo?
I had a rough childhood and this bird is the reason I hold on to the good memories. Waiting for the bus with the crisp air filling my nostrils. The stillness in the air, the distant sound of the bus engine revving and stopping. The feeling of the wet leaves under my shoes, you know the one. Where your shoes are all wet and squeaky so you rub your toes together to make more squeaks. I remember playing in the woods with my siblings. Nothing was ever simple or easy, but every time we hear these birds a sense of calmness and harmony came over me. There's never really been anything like it before and hasn't been since.
Hearing this actually made me cry. I grew up with this daily for decades...but I have not heard a mourning dove in 7 years. Absolute joy though. So glad these amazing birds are immortalized here.
As I said in another comment section, They never left, they were right with us all along. As we grew up, we forgot to listen and look at the little thing of life. Your life experiences get tougher and your body is hurting more and more but every morning, in the summer. Theyll be there. For you and for me.
With every breath, the old moment is lost; a new moment arrives. We exhale and we let go of the old moment. It is lost to us. In doing so, we let go of the person we used to be. We inhale and breathe in the moment that is becoming. In doing so, we welcome the person we are becoming. We repeat the process. This is meditation. This is renewal. This is life.
Man...what happened... The mourning dove is my favorite. When I heard these waiting for the bus, those were the days where I was in my own universe. A time where worry just wasn't real. School was easy, and when I would get home, the woods was /right there/ I would often just lay on the soft grass and look at the sky go from blue, to orange, to pink, to red, and then to black with white dots. I often yearn for those days when I thought the world was full of good. Now, it's just a whole lifetime away What happened?
when I was 6 I used to live across the street from a golf course, the 18th green. I remember some afternoons walking across to go putting with my dad and older brother. I didn't care how many strokes or how many times I got it in the hole, I just remember taking my snoopy putter, and chasing the ball after completely missing yet I still had a blast. The sunset was super visible because of the way the trees parted around the course. There was tall grass and a pond right next to the green. These were the sounds heard, and the dove somewhere far away cooing is the exact sound I am hearing right now and I love it. Now my brother drives me to school. I can't believe how short childhood is...
The owl is by far my favorite bird to hear in the morning. I really believe song birds make the best sound on this planet so to hear them all sing is wonderful but the owl brings something different. All the others have a vague similarity but the owl will always stand out
@@jaxmorningstar6703 actually I learned recently I was wrong about that sound being an owl. It's actually the mourning dove which makes this sound ua-cam.com/video/7oNljd7R1f8/v-deo.html
As both a young girl and then down the road, a newly wed in rural Nebraska, I remember being lulled to sleep by owls, we had an evergreen bush by our bedroom window an owl occupied at night, What a wonderful gift!
Waking up on a summer morning in the house my mom got for my brother and I after she could afford to move out of our grandparents house. I’m still just a kid, not even in middle school. Everything is warm and I can hear muted sounds of breakfast being made through my bedroom door. I don’t want to get up yet because I’m so comfortable. I stare out the window next to my bed that points into the backyard. I see several tall bushes line the back of the neighbors house, creating a wall of green. Several large oak trees hang in the sky, cutting the sunlight up into little beams. On the largest oak tree is the swing that we put up on one of the branches; the seat is still wet from the rain last night. I begin to smell pancakes from the kitchen, and finally get up to start the day.
It’s a warm sunny summer day, you wake up and do your chores around the house, come afternoon evening you go out and play with your friends, football soccer kickball etc. The cool breeze, the birds chirping, us laughing, and the beautiful sunset in the background. Green trees, beautiful flowers, beautiful sounding birds. In the back of your mind it was to make sure your home before the streetlights came on. Then we beSitting on the steps in my friends backyard talking about life. Wishing we were older and how we wish we could do grown things. Fast forward now, gloomy skies, dull trees, us sitting and talking about how we wish we could go back to those days and not wish that we would be older now. I miss the days of being able to call my friends on the old flip phones asking when are we going outside. Or just showing up at the door and we all go out. I miss the cool breeze in the shade on a warm summer evening while the sunsets while we’re walking from playing outside. I wish those days would come back once more.
Its summer time. Im on our annual camping trip with all my cousins. We're waking up at the campgrounds after staying up all night. The smell of burnt out campfires and smoke in the air. The morning air is damp. We wake up to shower and dress for a new day. We ride our bikes back to the campsite and the dads are cooking breakfast on the fire and making pancakes on the electric skillet. We eat our food and take off on our bikes getting into the shenangians at the campgrounds. Playing bingo at the shelter house. Riding the golfcart down the dirt paths in the woods, swimming with a bunch of people, stopping in the little welcome center to get an ice cream. Eating lunch back at the campsite. Riding around on our bikes until sunset. Taking a million photos on our cameras. Sitting by the fire at night with sparklers, card games, and good memories. ❤
Maybe nurses that work 2nd and graveyard shifts would use black screen to sleep in a darkened room during the daytime. I used to work second shift and would have loved this at that time. For now, I could use a pretty scene that changes every few minutes. The sound is sweet. It brings back memories of waking up in my aunt's house in summers. We used an upstairs in the house that had a whole apartment, in a full queen sized bed and she would sleep right next to me. The comfort of gentle sounds, the chenille bedspread and her kind presence were wonderful!
7 year old me, walking up on a summer day, at my grandparents house with my cousins, having our ds’s dead on the floor because we played Mario kart all night, and then having to wake up to this. Man I really want to experience this again. To bad I already graduated🥺
Ah yes....I miss the early spring and summer mornings from my childhood and from more recent times. The cool air,the earthy dew smell and most importantly, the way the world feels. Feel stressed out? Do yourself a favor and go outside sometime early in the morning this spring or summer and appreciate the beauty of your surroundings.
Thanks for creating this! It makes me yearn to be back where I used to live when I heard this during the spring and summer months! It's very calming and soothing to listen to!❤❤
☔️🦋🌴 I feel like there are several poets out there…, and all with a unique and impressive *and very fascinating* story of their childhood memories… and likewise… I also carry my story impregnated in my mind* and when I close my eyes and transport myself to CARIBBEAN Cuba… where I was born and also lived my childhood… surrounded by colorful and beautiful birds, listening to their beautiful melodic songs of the nightingale, the mockingbird, etc. those sounds that transmit happiness and peace to my soul* touch my sense of nostalgia 🥹 that distant memory where I used to run after butterflies 🦋 and emerald dragonflies that adorned the sky 🌌 with their splendor... of also feeling that warm sun that one day touched my cheeks... and feeling the rain suddenly fall like a drop of dew on my hair... wavy and blonde that shone like a diamond... before the rays of the burning sun ☀️... really all those ephemeral moments and memories of our childhood are a "sacred treasure" that will accompany us forever... in memory. We really were so young *with a free soul*...and pure* we were so innocent * always so carefree about time ⏳. life means evolution, transformation* etc. Now I live far away from my land...where the little birds have no color* and are seen very few, the butterflies fly scarcely through the gray sky...the dragonflies have a dull color and sometimes fly through time...Thank you.♥️Bye🌊🌳🐚
I've never heard mourning dove in real life. I wish i did, but they don't live here. The closest sound we get here is a woodpigeon like 2-3 months of the year. Thanks for the video. Makes me fall asleep well.
