My wife got me this guitar as an early Christmas present (I know she's ace!) I can't rate this guitar enough! Gorgeous sound and really nice to play. Very well made guitar, I'm so pleased with it!!! I was initially looking at getting a Taylor 200 series, baring in mind the 200 series and below are not solid wood, they are ply backed and the epiphone is all solid mahogany back and sides, but is a fraction of the price of a Taylor, so it was a no brainer really....amazing guitar, feels like £1000 acoustic guitar.
I’ve had mine for three years now and I love it!
Thank you for a great and in-depth look at the preamp
Brilliant, Bryan! Good to see you with new videos.
I have this guitar and love it! Thanks for the helpful video...now I can't wait to try playing around with the eSonic to try to get those sounds. This guitar sounds amazing through our system at church!
fall in love with the tone
This sound is what I really like. Very good presentation Thank You!
What a great sounding guitar!!!
Great review! Everything I wanted to know. THanks
Lovely sound
Just got this for my birthday today :D
Love the riff at 3:12!!! Wish I could keep it my ring tone! :)
Thanks for the comprehensive review.
Nice playing BTW.
Just ordered the Natural with tint, love the sounds this produces, the stereo system won it over for us. Love the Jazz bits! : )
Nice demo.....nice playing too!
I have this system in my Epi but without the nano mag.
I love the system. The nano flex is extremely fragile and I have replaced it once due to my careless handling, but I’d love to have it in all my acoustics as they do not sound as good plugged in with their standard piezo under saddle. I am unable to record acoustic with a microphone due to lack of absolute silence. With this system once I found the right settings in my DAW I have the freedom I need to record anytime I need to no matter how much environment noise is around me and have that natural acoustic sound.
I have done extensive research online and watched many reviews of other available systems and none of them give this kind of freedom with a natural sound. Period. But be forewarned if you plan on fiddling with the nano flex strip you may very well break it easily. They are not junk, just fragile. I’m very glad I bought this guitar as I had no idea what it can do, I just liked the body of the guitar. I am pleasantly surprised.
Finally got mine! Used both pick-ups on two amps...sweet!
wow, so many tones for an acoustic. Nice killer
Man that sounds good.
Can this guitar be played with just one cord? How do I plug it into a fishman sa220? Which jack should I use?
thats an amazing peice of technology there
awesome player..
This is a very good sounding guitar in person.
I cant play at all, but really appreciated what a great sound that was, fab bit of kit!
I have both the ej200sce and the DR500mce and they are both well worth the money. They are quite different from each other in that the 200 is ,to my thinking, more useful plugged in and the 500 , while excellent amped sounds better unplugged than the 200 because of it's solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. The 500 has open 18-1 tuners which are more sensitive and stay in tune somewhat better than the 200 with it's 14-1 set-up.some have commented that the action is a problem and for $50 or so a guitar tech will set the action for you. There's nothing worse than starting out trying to play with strings way too high off the fretboard. Epiphone is doing some things VERY well , especially for the price point.
SWEET! A friend is bringing his Natural DR-500 MCE over tomorrow for me to buy. I am self taught on a $66 Jasmine by Takamine S35 (Amazon last year). Can't wait until the morning and trying the Epiphone Masterbuilt!
Great video...
Just got my ej200cse ... My nanoflex sounds really terrible... Looked insie the guitar and there was a sensor just there hanging on the air... This my second epiphone guitar.... And actually my second disapontment... I really wanted this guitar to work. The store does not have any other sunburst guitar 😭
hey nice playing brian, the esonic 2 is sick
Wow, great video. I just purchased a EJ-200SCE and the eSonic 2 Preamp is better than the one on my J-200!
can you make make another video on how did you achieve different sound from the acoustic. i think you use some effects.
I love mine, best guitar i ever owned and i have had many.
I Have gigged this ej 200 ce guitar and the electronics work PERFECTLY!!!!!! inside on the streets stereo and mono...
Now If I can just learn to play as well as Bryan.
Good guitar, and player.
i have a samick greg bennett asor, with this pre-amps...
the sound is very amazing, unique and cool...
Just bought this guitar in natural based on reviews and this video niceeeee!!!!
i love Epiphone
When you "roll back the treble" to get that floating pickup sound, are you turning the nanometers dial counterclockwise or adjusting eq on the amp?
I think this is the best guitar in this price range.. dr mce
If anyone could help me, it'd be greatly appreciated: I have two questions:
What does the "Phase" button thing do?
Why does Epiphone say "Masterbilt" instead of "Masterbuilt"?
Thanks!
Yeah i think i want this guitar :)
wohw..! that is just crazy..! Awesome...!
when i plug this into my fender twin it produces crazy feedback where the nanomag pulls the string too hard. is this because its too high output? is this going to do the same thing through a pa live?
Wow, wich models have this sistem?
What amp would you recommend buying for this guitar?
I have found that when I plug the jack from the nano mag into an electric amp and the jack from the nano flex into an acoustic amp that the slider Blender Control doesn`t stop the nano mag from working when the slider is at the full nano flex position... shouldn`t the nano mag stop when the slide control is at the full nano flex position even when the 2 jacks are in separate amps ? The stereo Jack strap seems to give independant control of the two pickups .
Well said! Thx.
Very good guitar player.
Hy ! what cables you use and where are the plugging ?? Thanks !
Bryan, thanks very much for this great informative video! I am about to buy Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500RCCE - Natural from Sweetwater sound Inc. in January-February 2016. Then I would like to tell me how did you achieved this great sound which is probably Chorus + Reverb from the Stereo output and Distortion out of the Mono output. Please, let me/us know your Audio setup for this video. Hope it's not a secret! :) Thank you!
Nice guitare but let me tell you, the gear used by this guy cost a little fortune 👽
and that this model or reference of guitar?
is DR500?
Thanks
Are you gonna be able to put a strap on the output jack?
EF500, AJ500 or DR500.. I don't know wich choose.. Can you help me?
(sorry my english, i'm french)
Thanks for sharing video. Esonic flex is capturing the pick hit noise. It means whenever I play lead guitar with pick, I can hear the noise of pick hitting string. How can I avoid this ?
Is there a effects processor which will give both acoustic and electric sounds and can be used with esonic2.. I mean simultaneously both the pick up in one processor and then get acoustic and electric sound????
I have a Epi PR 5e, with an eSonic which only lasted 1 and a half year and then started giving problems. They told me in the shop I had to buy a new one.
I got one of these last week, same sunburst finish. Initially, I didn't want that finish, but I couldn't pass up the used price. It plays great, sounds great and now that I have it, I think I prefer the sunburst finish. I haven't gotten around to plugging it in yet and have only played it acoustically, but it sounds so good. I have a herd of guitars and I suppose I could have paid more for a Martin, Taylor, Gibson whatever, but I gotta say, I think I'm just as happy with this. I'm always amazed at how good some of these more reasonable guitars play and sound
Just bought bthis guitar and I like it. But what brand of strings are on it?
I have the Epiphone Masterbilt AJ500ME and when I plug the two pickups into separate amps at the same time trying to get the same stereo sound as here all I get is a loud hum !!
At 2:05 of this vid there is an end view of the guitar showing the two plug ins , the NANO MAG says stereo and the NANO FLEX says mono !! Does that mean I need a STEREO JACK in the NANO MAG ? every blog I`ve been on seems to have this question and no one knows whats going on here ???
What a great review! Awesome. This just may be that "red headed stepchild" for my 1951 SJ. NO offense intended to anyone it's just a old saying. I believe I will try one!
Could I hear that pickup without any reverb (or chorus) please
There are loads of these masterbilt epi's for sale at 2 different guitar stores here in virginia beach as of this posting. Alpha Music & Guitar Center. Alpha has the best selection by far.
Hi, what cables and amp are u using? Just got my Epi Like the one you are playing....thanks! :)
i really think that he is using an effects in order to have a good result in the sound. i have an epiphone which has an eSonic 2 pre amp but it does not sound like the one in the video
That's because they are bad news. They might hold up to a couple of years. I have 2 guitars with the same unfixable broblems.
@@j.richie3558 You mean just the electronics right? I bought a Martin(finally), and Guitar Center sent me a scratched up one. I ended up with a Masterbuilt with rosewood back and side with same electronics. The Epiphone is easier to play, sounds great plugged as well as unplugged, and cost under $800. I don't understand how pickups can go bad and end up unfixable??
It’s produced by using both outputs and refining the settings. One of the amps more than likely has reverb.
can we give this distortion effect in esonic preamp?
Do you guys have any idea how he did the part at 2:20? Did he use 2 amps or something?
Gostaria de saber porque todo Ej200 da Defeito do Captador ou no Circuito? Já é o segundo que tenho e da defeito no circuito!!!
Três amigos meus já tiveram o Ej200 e também deram problema no Circuito!!!
which amps are used in this video ?
From where did he get all those sounds
absolutely! :-)
Does anybody know if Epiphone makes this guitar in a 12 string model?
which song did he played in this rewiew?
lo mejor epii
That's the one I want..
I wanted to put this kind of pre amp on to a classical guitar
esonic2 is aweosme. Got one of those on my EJ-200 and it's fair to say it's my favourite acoustic preamp.
will this be in any left handed model(s)?
Nice but, so many issues with the esonic 2 preamp. Hopefully, you get one that works.
Yes, it is.
Which model of Masterbilt is he playing here?
@coolsmcbadass Well spotted, thanks!
yes, the guitar is standing on Brian's legs
Please
eSonic2 vs PRESYS Blend????
who win???Thanks!
Whats the song called he starts playing at 2:18 ?
THE EJ200CE HAS A NANOFLEX PICKUP IN THE FRETBOARD ?
The Phase button cancels out feed back and the Masterbilt is just the way Epiphone decided to spell it. Just had to be different.. :-) I have one on order right now. looks like about a 2 month wait for these.
What amplifier are you using??
what amps are you using?
what are the chords starting at 2:35?
how does he obtain the distorsion at 3.31?
He's got the second pickup plugged into an amp with distortion. The first amp is a standard tube amp.
Would this guitar be good for metal?
Which guitar model is this ?
What amp did you use for the "smoky jazz" bit? 4:05 onward. Thanks!
I love my Epiphone J-200, but the eSonic2 unit doesn't work anymore. Why? Not a clue! I've put in a couple of new batteries, but still nothing. No sound, even the little LED light won't come on when pushing the Tuner button. Anybody has a good suggestion on how to fix this?
+flwolf2000 I don't know if you ever fixed this. Perhaps it's something simple: Pull out the battery with its plastic holder. Look inside the eSonic. See if the contacts are correctly positioned. For the coin-type batteries, sometimes their metal contacts are pushed back over time and it doesn't touch the battery.
I just bought the EJ-200SCE with the eSONIC 2. I have some real concerns. When plugged into the mono I get a hum that goes away when I touch the stereo plug. Also when I slide all the way to the left, (nanomag) I have no sound to my amp.
Also, when I plug into the stereo I don't have any hum but when I slide all the way to the right,(nanoflex) I get no sound to my amp. and the tuner does not seem to work well. I really love the guitar. I had to spend some time lowering the action and don't want to send it back to MF. Help!!!!!!
I have this guitar also. Plays and sounds great, only complaint is the Nanomag pickup - If I plug 1/4 inch jack into the second input, I get a lot of noise along with the guitar output, so it's basically useless. My guitar tech won't touch it without $100 up front for parts, ( not including labor ) so, I just use the single output. Not much to say about the " stereo " sound you are supposed to get.
It's only shadow's terrible quality of work. i have 2 of them and they have the same unfixable problems.
This is by far the best demonstration of epiphone I have heard and seen, superb demo
