Best quest in the game, hands down. I literally squeezed every last drop out of House of Hope in my playthrough, it was that good.

Tbf, and not to argue and dunk on the opinion, I love House of Hope as DnD and cRPG fan, but structure wise Nightsong is the best in the quest. As a quest that you follow. It is probably the wildest quest in all recent RPGs, because of how it starts, progresses and ends, which completely denies the idea between side quest, main quest and companion quest (like, it is peak Larian intertwining of all threads).
House of Hope is an outstanding dungeon. It is what they call “adventure” in the DnD, kind of one session. While "Nightsong" is a campaign for sure, one could argue it is the whole game till act3 (which it is and isn't at the same time, certainly is in act2)
Anyway, sorry to be too nerdy :)
Running into the architect of Moonrise here was such an amazing and unexpected payoff. I loved that scene when I first played it.

When you save the Duke and still free Wyll from Mizora the quest gets super glitched, but I've dealt with glitches even when I couldn't save him, I don't know what's going on with Wyll lmfao.
That Shadowheart glitch was awful so hilarious when she yelled "Watch it oaf!" at Karlach lol!
I was so frustrated at that glitch but then it's actually so funny when you think about it 🤣🤣 Glad you thought it was funny as well hahaha
Wyll is GLITCHED AF poor boy
Technically, in this case is just weird interactivity, in which Wyll has to choose twice for some reason, however during convo with Duke he affirms his choice, acknowledging the previous conversation. Duke says in hopes that would name Wyll Grand Duke, Wyll affirms the decision of becoming Blade of Avernus, like it isn't really "super glitched" in this case, just weird interaction that resolves itself.
I think it is only because Wyll have to see what happened to Ansur and make a choice and then talk to father and make a choice, if Wyll has seen what happened/been in the fight then the first conversation with him never happens. Basically, she has seen 2 resolutions for this quest, when Wyll is not in the party and when he is, AND, in the second one Wyll acknowledged that he had 1st conversation. Hilarious weirdness.
Important to note: Wyll's quest is the whole game, "Blade of Frontiers", just like any other companion (Pale Elf, Daughter of Darkness and so on) - so inside many things happen, in this case in the end it confused itself because Wyll didn't do his own quest. Waukeen's Rest, Meeting Karlack, Mizora in camp, Mountain Pass interaction, Moonrise - all part of core Wyll's quest.

yeah, with globe it starts to get funny when multiple enemies also tried to get into the globe to become invulnerable, and then start pushing you out of it, so it becomes a game of pushing each other out of the globe to deal at least some damage
hilarious how I first thought "oh, shes selecting a potion of greater vaulting very fast, nice" & the realization you just are gonna throw your team-members up that rock & be done with it :D - nicely done :D
I honestly believe no potions of any type would've worked. She was properly glitched there, not even flying was working 😭 Mama K to the rescue!
I love Hope, love her lines, her personality, her voice actor was fantastic. So good!
Haarlep is a trip...the shenanigans you can find out about and get up to if you humor his game...dangerous though. So very dangerous.

equip the strength gloves with Karlach !!! :) nice episode again, House of Hope is awesome in many ways.
and if you want to make her even more op after that, with the gloves and amulet equipped for con and str, you could respec her, dump str and con to 8, and put it all in dex and wis or something like that, might be a bit too easy and cheesy though. one of the available most popular power build options for sure.

@@martinkasprzik5069 gotta unequip armor tho, to get full bonus from CON as a Barbarian (Unarmored defense), from 23 CON it is +6 to AC. So with high enough DEX (maybe 16 for +3 or even 18 for +4) it could be around 20 AC from stats + some barbarian specific clothing could work really fine. Honestly, not a big fan of relying on CON bonus for AC as Barb, armor is just better, but 23 CON is just too much not to use
@@nickrubin7312 I tend to buy the armor with unlimited dex ac bonus for Karlach in the city, use the con amulet for hitpoints and saves only, max dex for ac and initiative and saves, getting her ac to 24 or higher, high wis for saves and perception, totally overpowered and only needed in honour mode really. taking cloud giant potions too and hasted would be the maxed out rather unfair version :)
@@martinkasprzik5069 yeah, there are 4 medium armors that give full (unlimited) DEX bonus to AC. Gotta be honest, without wiki I've remembered only 3 (Yuan-Ti in Last Light Inn, that other one that Zhentarim girl Roan sells at Moonrise, and Armor of Agility - during this playthrough Whimsy got only 1, Armor of Agility). Forgot that Dammon in act3 has another one. Have to admit, it is refreshing to see someone else actually using medium armor for Barbarian, and for the better. So many players fall into the trap of “Unarmored defense”, and then argue and die on that hill about “Barbarian shouldn't wear armor”. It became so tiresome to argue at the beginning, now I just stop. It is fine, with very rare clothing, but AC almost never would be higher than just by using a decent medium armor, not to mention one of 4 armors that give full DEX bonus. It's just a numbers game.
I've always used armor of agility on the rogue tho, idk, just felt better for me. Either on me, or Astarion. Also, during my Wyll Honor mode as Warlock/Fighter/Bard (swords) I used armor of agility on me as well lol, until later stages of act3. I used some else, one of 3 others, on Karlach, even tho my preferred party comp always pushes Karlach out as 5th companion, either as melee Barb or throwing Barb - doesn't matter. Hot take (in case of Karlach very hot lol): I find all, but one, Barbarian builds gameplay extremely dull, especially throwing. I know it is overpowered, even in comparison to many other OP things, I just can't find fun it. Like, building sort of Hexblade out of Wyll, with Baneful and later with Duelist Prerogative, or Druid/Ranger/Monk/Rogue out of Jaheira, or Cleric/Druid out of Halsin, is more of my vibe (synergetic sort of midrange builds, but optimized enough to work well on HM). I like eagle heart Barbarian, I probably wouldn't play it on HM (and won't try, too gimmicky and weak to my liking), but as a gimmick, I find it fun.

popular, but optional, you go there only if you want to free Orpheus, otherwise you might completely skip it (deal with Raphael, not deal with Raphael and not go, push Lae'zel to side with Vlaakith and not free Orpheus and not go, and so on...)
in terms of "butthurt" encounter design I still take House of Grief higher, especially because it makes a lot of people really angry lol,
but in everything else, especially style, House of Hope is unparalleled

interesting, karlach to me has something special to say about gortash learning what happened
2:15:55 not actually a glitch. Shadowheart has many secret counters (like e.g. Gale wanting to have kids together once you give him a single compliment, but Shart has the most by far). This one works in Act 3 if she went her good route. If she is killed too many times before finishing her questline, her AI will behave a little different (switchting to a less aggressive model), like hitting less attack spells, or not jumping directly into dangerous places (this one jump killed Lilith after all), modifying the path finding regardless of strength. It's one of the subtle ways this game has so much replayability.
It could also have been she'd gotten sick about being a glorified pill dispensary this playthrough, but sadly, no counter for that ingame (AFAIK) 🙂
I was so scared of the House of Hope up until I saw Raphael's loverboy. Something about Harleep wearing a younger version of Raphael's face just made Raphael instantly pathetic.
But today's highlight has got to be throwing Shadowheart over the balcony. Absolutely hillarious

Yes, Haarlep is Raphael's personal incubus. He is transformed to look exactly like Raphael, as Raphael only ever wants to sleep with himself. (if you play his "game" he talks a bit more. He also says Raphael is bad in bed lol)

and, on his straps it is written "1,000 lovers in one body" in Infernal (just like Karlach's horn also has infernal writing)
which means there are 1000 different bodies from 1000 souls stolen lol
...and the best is - you can bring that up when you meet a certain Devil again 🙂

FYI and anyone wondering: About the traps for items (gloves and amulet), if you have watched Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark you know what to do, how to make those traps not trigger ;) (also, one of the funniest implementations of weight in the game, since you need to check what item weights first).
Besides Wyll interactivity and Shadowheart not wanting to jump for some reasons... Deminsion Door worked, its just there is a delay on PS5/controller when you pick anyone to teleport/resurrect, so when clicked quickly it just didn't register at all. Complain away lol :), it could be annoying, imo minor things in overall scope (like I didn't get any during my last 100+h month ago, you get some really weird one, like more than usual playthrough for sure - at least from what I watch and played myself, you get so much more than average visual stuff, which is still - SH portrait, Shield Bash was for everyone, Blink was annoying and still is, but other than that - I honestly don't recall)
Too bad you didn't play the Incubus' game. You can learn secrets about Raphael there and the scene is very funny. But I get it that it doesn't fit your character.

Why did she fight ansur with 3 people instead of all 4? That definitely made her match harder.
well, to make it more difficult she did with only 2 or even solo a lot of the time, yet still she persevered :) but yeah, with 4, preferably hasted Karlach and Laezel in the group it would have been way faster.
I thought Wyll would get killed instantly anyways, and only two had resistance to lightning, that's why :)
technically, even if he gets killed or whatever, no reason, 4 is better than 3 (Wyll as Bardlock is great, but so poorly optimized in this case), making it just a bit harder, which is fair enough (for comedic reasons for sure), upping the difficulty like that lol
like, even unoptimized bardlock Wyll as additional caster, helper, distraction, if he dies - fine, if not - 4 is better, and he has eldtrich blast anyway, and can use scrolls...
50 episodes of comparably low viewership on this but wont give bioshock infinite a chance 😭😭
I always see a let's play to the end, unless I really dislike the game I'm playing, or if it was clear it was just for a first look with only one episode kind of thing. When starting a series, that's the sort of thing you need to carefully take into consideration. The lower view count on the BG3 videos is unfortunate, but very much expected with such a long series. First video is over 130k views that brought a LOT of new people in.
Basically, what you're comparing is apple to oranges.

You have fought apostle of Myrkul for an hour and reloaded there, so technically Myrkul was the hardest so far. I had a good giggle during this whole fight, truly, sorry, it was .... fun to watch (no cruelty, the fight is hard af), so many comedic moments of interactivity. I love how "clownfiesta" it can become pretty fast even to epic fights, which happened to mine as well.
House of Hope ties masonry quest from Act2 very nicely, and Yurgir as the one who Raphael tricked into killing Sharrans. In fact, this story is told backwards to a player, deliberately. Player starts to experience it from the end, from Grymforge, to which Yurgir chased the Sharran's, melted that wall you've inspected, and killed all there. However, there is one turned into many rats and so Yurgir can never fulfill his contract, because one the rats is hidden in the House of Hope (that one rat is part of the same entity as the rats in the Temple of Shar). There were 2 brothers, 1 was a mason, 1 was an innkeeper of Last Light Inn, who were Selune's faithful and kept resistance. Mason was approached by some "diabolical" figure, as he writes in his diary. He made a pact with Raphael. Harpers only finished the job a century ago.
House of Hope is not only the best dungeon in the game, but probably in plenty of other TTRPG/DnD based games. Interactions, plenty of lore drops, map design is simple, but fun to explore, music and style and vibes, and encounter/combat design, and a representation of Hope and the Devil and all that. Everything is perfect, imo. It ties everything, and, as I was telling all along, makes Raphael probably THE villain of the story (little boy Gortash certainly started preying to Bane when in Raphael's prison). Can't wait for part2 and "hell having its laws" and "souls going to their doom".
