Well macaulay culkin was interview with this same lady and this very room 2 years before Mara he was like bored and sleepy to be there so was mara...this is very strange.
I just watched her from a few years earlier on Jay Leno and she was really bubbly and talkative. then came to this one and she seems so withdrawn. I looked in the comments and people are saying her mother had died recently ☹️
I had no idea her mother had died around that time. She seems so spaced out and drained. She was only 9 years old. Poor girl. I'm glad she is doing well and didn't allow Hollywood to warp her mind
Her intelligence is quite evident in how pensive she becomes prior to answering the questions posed to her. She seems like such a cerebral child. I know she was grieving here, too. What an utterly captivating child she was!
I love the film Matilda. Mara Wilson played the main character so well and Mara was a great young actress. Watching this interview I felt for her a bit. It was just after her mum died and I could see the hurt in her eyes. She looked a little tired and didn't seem to have a care about what the interviewer was saying but despite that I think she handled the interview really well. What a little star. Acting can sometimes be a gruelling industry for young child actors, we've seen what can happen to young actors later in life and I think she made the right choice to quit while she was still young.
Yeah Mara Wilson quit acting when she was like 13 or 14 years old. The last movie that she was in was Thomas and the Magic Railroad. It was a movie that was based off of the kids TV show Thomas The Tank Engine. It starred Alec Baldwin and Peter Fonda.
This was right after her mom died, you can see the sorrow in her eyes, and she really does not care about anything the interviewer is saying. Poor Mara, to lose your parent so young, I feel for her :(
Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman actually took care of her during filming. And unlike their characters in the movie, they treated her like she was one of their own.

I can just see Mara after the interview going out in the hall and lighting up a cigarette and saying "oh my god" the interviewer seemed so patronizing. You can see how intellectual Mara is at such a young age.
She was so strong she literally just lost her mom and her to keep going and do these interviews and put a smile on her this girl deserves the world
I love that movie and Mara Wilson was such a great child actress.
I met Mara Wilson at a comic convention in Scotland last year. She was so sweet, lovely and fun to chat to and it was wonderful meet her
Her mother had just died at least a month before this interview. I can see the hurt in her eyes. She’s so distant and exhausted. Poor thing.
was just about to put this
Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, on Friday, March 10th, of 1995 died: April 26th 1996

1:30 something makes her loose her composure for a few seconds. The interview was an act and she looks like she didn't wana have to think. Wild
Our teacher in elementary school showed us this movie in class. I won't forget how mean they were to her.
I just watched her from a few years earlier on Jay Leno and she was really bubbly and talkative. then came to this one and she seems so withdrawn. I looked in the comments and people are saying her mother had died recently ☹️
My favorite BW videos were the interviews with DeForest Kelley. Now this one is!!
Mara Wilson
Movie
1. Matilda - Matilda 1996
Why does bobbie wygant always go off into other subjects that are not about the movie theyre promoting
cuz it’s more interesting otherwise they just give the same answers about the movie
she has great sadness in her eyes. She did`nt enjoy interviews and her mom had just died. Poor Mara. I just wanna hug her , watching this.
I feel so bad for her in this interview, it feels forced, judging her mom had just died they shouldnt have made her do it

Poor girl. You can tell she has the death of her mother on her mind.
Huh ? Wasnt she abused
@@joystickgamer3214, Mara’s mother, Suzie, died of breast cancer during the production of Matilda. The movie is dedicated to her.
that & she was probably tired from constant press and interviews as well :(
Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman actually took care of her during filming. And unlike their characters in the movie, they treated her like she was one of their own.
I quite agree. Her demeanor was melancholic, understandably.
Best kid movie ever!

I love her and Macaulay Culkin they both are the sweetest ❤
R.I.P. to Mara's late mother 😢💔🕊️
By the way, she’s also the cousin of Ben Shapiro which they both hated each other because of politics.
