Before the MCU, I experienced the Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe from 1950-90s. Yogi bear, Secret Squirrel, Huckleberry Hound, Atom Ant, Quick Draw McGraw, Scooby-Doo, and many other classics.
The fact that the monsterverse,a universe about a big monkey and lizard fighting other kaijus is more successful then the DCEU which has the most popular characters of all time is baffling to me.
And also the fact that the the twisted childhood universe [the one with winnie-the-pooh:blood and honey 2 takes place in] is also doing well for itself is surprising.
@AdrianAnimations360 Godzilla is Japanese created, but I'll let that slide. Alien v Predator is considered a franchise with both ips owned by different companies (until 2019)
The DCEU, started off as Zack Snyder’s thing then they lost faith in him and sabotaged Justice League. Then it was six years of random movies, trying to figure out what sticked to the wall while trying to internally soft reboot itself countless times. Then it became The Rocks thing for a year until Bkack Adam bombed and now The Rock has never been the same since. Then it finally died a slow embarrassing death with The Flash and now it’s James Gunn’s thing. Quite the journey it’s had for the last decade. Good luck James, he’s gonna need it.

Man of Steel wasn't a terrible start, but he only doubled down on what most audiences didn't like about the film, with Batman V Superman and it became clear that he hadn't learnt his lesson when directing Justice League. The problem was less that they ditched Snyder and more they just constantly course corrected after they ditched him, to the point that even well received movies like the first Aquaman and Shazam film's couldn't gather any momentum.

I remember hearing an expert say that the reason why the dark universe (and some other cinematic universes for that matter) failed was because they didn't get what Marvel did. They didn't announced that they were going to make a cinematic universe. They just made good individual movies with some connections for people to notice. And then they developed those connections eventually with the movies they made after the first ones until reaching the status of cinematic universe. Telling the audience that you're going to make a cinematic universe is like telling them that they're obligated to watch all of them to enjoy the content. Basically saying: "Here are the movies, now get invested" and that's not how it works. You don't want to make movies feel like homework. The expert also said that the only franchise that more or less understood what Marvel did is the conjuverse. Which I kinda agree all things considered.
something i learned relatively recently is that the very well regarded Napoleon silent film from 1927 was actually the first film in a failed series of 6 biopics that abel gance originally pitched because he went and spent all of the money he was given on the first one which ended up with a 9hr 30min runtime at which point all the investors decided not to give him any more money

Shared universes peaked at Michael Moorcock making 4 (already established and having their own separate series of books) incarnations of the same dude meeting on a boat in the second Elric book.
The whole idea of any 'universe' is stupid anyway. It's like saying: 'everybody went to see the Spider-Man movie because of aunt May'. Not EVERY character in a movie is important for the movie's success, so don't make a movie about every character... Also not every character is interesting enough for a whole movie/series.

To be fair to Sony, Madame Web has an origin story so short that it can be summed up in two sentences. How was Sony supposed to come up with a feature-length origin story for this character
Wasn't Madam Web a mutant that had psychic powers in the comics also? I guess because Sony didn't have the rights to the X-Mex either, which heavily involves the existence of mutants in Marvel, they would have to make her backstory completely different.
@alexandercorbett1147 No, unlike what Sony claims, Madame Web's powers are mysterious. All that's said about them is that she got them from being paraplegic. Aside from that, literally nothing else is known about them. She is assumed to be a mutate rather than being a mutant
@NVSirius all the movies and the show have the same characters. There's nothing that makes it an interconnected universe like the MCU. If the characters had their own movies that weren't directly connected but took place in the same world then it would be a universe. The Sonic series has a movie with 2 direct sequels and then a spin off tv show.
Not necessarily a cinematic universe, but the Friday The 13th universe shares pieces of information from the Evil Dead franchise. So TECHNICALLY the Evil Dead and Friday the 13th is a cinematic universe.
I feel bad for the Bloodsport movie because I'm a fan of Valiant Comics, and I would love to see shows or movies about characters like X-O Manowar and Ninjak. Those guys are fantastic. I don't need a Valiant Cinematic Universe, but I hope they can at least get new projects off the ground for Valiant's characters.
I think what sucks even more about Sony Not adding spider man into any of their "villain" movie, Is that Andrew Garfield Could have came back as Spider-Man.
I forgot about the Dark Universe that basically failed before it really started. Also I still kinda like the Venom movies probably the best thing come from those non Spider-man Sony movies.
I'm really jumpy, easily grossed out, and scared of most things. But the mummy trailer at least the one here, I just felt bored. Effects, boring, jumpscares, saw them coming, all in all I got more annoyed of wasted time than any thinking "oh, it's a not very scary horror movie, maybe I'll dare watching it", then I forgot about it until next time, repeat.
Outside of the first film, I think “Pooh inverse” has been fun for BoH 2 and Neverland Nightmares. Just choose a better name. Like Childhood Nightmares or even as something as “Scarytales”
I find it intriguing that Monsterverse is picking up its pace and still going strong. The next Godzilla x Kong 3 movie will primarily focus on improving the human characters. Although I’m glad they’re finally trying to improve the humans, but I really hope they’ll focus on Godzilla this time
Warner Bros back then really tried to find a cinematic universe that would kill the MCU. I mean they were even plans for a Pokémon cinematic universe after Detective Pikachu, but plans seem to have scuttled and now we’re getting a Minecraft cinematic universe instead.
It's amazing how Warner Bros failed so epically with what should have been a home run having the DC characters, but quietly made the only two successful CU's after the MCU, with The Monstervere and The Conjuring universe...
Ya it feels like multiverse or time travel movie trends except everyone is trying to join. And ngl I'm surprised no one mentions the universal monster movie (no not the dark universe, the old black and white monster movies) which I believe is the first cinematic universe
The best part about Venom's appearance in the MCU is the fact that No Way Home almost immediately made sure it couldn't work by having the spell only pull in people who know Spider-Man is Peter. Which as Venom's universe doesn't have a Spider-Man literally makes it impossible for him to turn up. (Also there is an explanation for Electro as he could have overheard Gwen shouting Peter's name as he was coming round in the end fight of TASM 2)
People forget the oringial hook of shared universe is you didn’t have to plan far ahead beyond known moneymakers. Since you could pick and chose what to revisit, not just assume everything is going be equally successful
That's two videos that have come out from people I'm subscribed to in a single week that have mentioned the Friday the 13th/Transformers Trent connection.
Scoob's greatest achievement is the fact that they were able to get away with a dude yelling "Dick" multiple times at the top of his lungs. I'm still sad that the sequel's locked away in the Warner Bros. tax cut vault.
For those that didn't watch Sony's marvel Universe it goes like this: Venom - a loser finds a flubber and wants to expose Elon Musk Venom Let there be Carnage - a Romcom where Eddie and Venom are an old married couple arguing each other while Carnage does all the work in a hard PG-13 fashion Morbius - tries to find a cure while the audience tries to find good things about it Madame Web - Final Destination with cheat codes (+has a Temu spider-man) Venom The Last Dance - an evil moist god sents his woodchippers to save the budget and pay his taxes so he can walk again (not) Kraven The Hunter - loves animals, hunts bad people (+blood)

Not necessarily a cinematic universe, but the Friday The 13th universe shares pieces of information from the Evil Dead franchise. So TECHNICALLY the Evil Dead and Friday the 13th is a cinematic universe.
And ash fought Jason and Freddy (slasher) in a comic
it was going to be connected, but the idea was abandoned and it was eventually turned into a comic
0:26 Universal Monsters Film Universe 30s: am I a joke to you?
11:00 at least the tie in game was good. Then again that’s WayForward for you, they have a decent track record when it comes to licensed games
Exactly. Andrew got disrespected by Sony.
@@ParkerCS2 And now, they're pretending like nothing ever happened and that they always loved Andrew.
Assholes.
I unironically love the idea of the shitty public domain horror universe
1:27 thats some theory material for Alex Bale
Fun fact: Concord was going to be a whole franchise with a cinematic universe.
They got a Secret Level episode that teased characters that weren't in the game, meaning they were already advertizing the future seasons
Thanks for uploading this on my birthday🎉🎉!!
Outside of the first film, I think “Pooh inverse” has been fun for BoH 2 and Neverland Nightmares.
Just choose a better name. Like Childhood Nightmares or even as something as “Scarytales”
I can’t wait for the Dark Universe to return
Found this channel a month ago, I've seen almost every video. Man your channel is so addictive
The sonic universe is low key cooking right now
I’m hoping Knuckles Season 2 can course correct the problems with S1 and actually be about Knuckles and get the budget it needs.
I find it intriguing that Monsterverse is picking up its pace and still going strong. The next Godzilla x Kong 3 movie will primarily focus on improving the human characters. Although I’m glad they’re finally trying to improve the humans, but I really hope they’ll focus on Godzilla this time
Didn't the recent Wolf Man bomb? So Universals Darkerer Universe seems to have failed too.
Annoying Orange Cinematic Universe
0:26 GODZILLA MENTIONED 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Following the idea of "cinematic universe" , technically the Power Rangers franchise is also a cinematic universe?
7:40 Oh god 😂
They should be added to the Monsterverse, then it can actually be a proper cinematic universe
@redmii69 well, they did have a crossover recently in the PR comics
at 2:37 the captions seem to be very happy about the displate ad
As an Aroace person, I don’t bring girls home, which makes displates even better for me B)
8:54 This was so outlandish I just had to laugh at it
The way you said "The SPUMC" was just gave me silly goobie vibes :3
That classic cartoon horror universe is gonna ruin my childhood tho 😭
And why is it actually well thought out tho
Let's not forget th walking dead universe. The original show ended, the franchise as a whole is still continuing with Daryl Dixen, and Dead City
Warner Bros back then really tried to find a cinematic universe that would kill the MCU.
I mean they were even plans for a Pokémon cinematic universe after Detective Pikachu, but plans seem to have scuttled and now we’re getting a Minecraft cinematic universe instead.
I’m pretty sure that those cinematic universes collapsed!
If there is a diamondbolt movie why isn't there a diamondbolt cinematic universe
13:04 I still pray for Monsterverse Jet Jaguar every day.
Nah but genuinely I wanna see jet jaguar in the monsterverse
The best Cinematic Universe is the Rankin-Bass Holiday Specials.
I’m also tired of cinematic universes! Diamondbolt and I have that in common. 😭💯
It's amazing how Warner Bros failed so epically with what should have been a home run having the DC characters, but quietly made the only two successful CU's after the MCU, with The Monstervere and The Conjuring universe...
My favourite cinematic universe is The DBCU. Diamondbolt Cinematic Universe
I loved that opening skit
Ya it feels like multiverse or time travel movie trends except everyone is trying to join.
And ngl I'm surprised no one mentions the universal monster movie (no not the dark universe, the old black and white monster movies) which I believe is the first cinematic universe
Thumbnails brighter then the sun
12:14 that’s why I’ve always felt like we need to have Gamera in the Monsterverse
The definition thing of what classses as a cinematic universe is really interesting actually
If anyone remembers that 2018 Robin Hood movie, they tried to make a cinematic universe out of that too.
I’ve heard a theory that Venom knew who Peter Parker was through the symbiotic hive mind.
Honey wake up diamond bolt posted!
It's always the 2nd movie that determines if the universe is gonna keep going or if it's just dead now
I would unironically love a Jet Jaguar movie.
5:20 to 5:25 Damn he sounds really sad in his words "Is good to have dreams, I had a dream once" Damn.
Freddy vs Jason wasn’t a Cinematic Universe Movie….that would be Jason vs Freddy vs Ash
Oh wait, Jason vs Freddy vs Ash was a comic book series…oops
My eyes popped out of their sockets when I heard ghostbusters cinematic universe
Crossovers used to be the coolest thing ever
13:28 (wheezing)
People forget the oringial hook of shared universe is you didn’t have to plan far ahead beyond known moneymakers. Since you could pick and chose what to revisit, not just assume everything is going be equally successful
"It's good to have dreams, I had a dream once"
You can hear the disappointment in his voice😂😂
After first joke with the bird, I was hoocked
That's two videos that have come out from people I'm subscribed to in a single week that have mentioned the Friday the 13th/Transformers Trent connection.
Wow sony actually derserves all the failure it gets oh my god
Diamondbolt Cinematic Universe is one of the universes of all time
Scoob's greatest achievement is the fact that they were able to get away with a dude yelling "Dick" multiple times at the top of his lungs.
I'm still sad that the sequel's locked away in the Warner Bros. tax cut vault.
This is the quickest I’ve clicked a video
For those that didn't watch Sony's marvel Universe it goes like this:
Venom - a loser finds a flubber and wants to expose Elon Musk
Venom Let there be Carnage - a Romcom where Eddie and Venom are an old married couple arguing each other while Carnage does all the work in a hard PG-13 fashion
Morbius - tries to find a cure while the audience tries to find good things about it
Madame Web - Final Destination with cheat codes (+has a Temu spider-man)
Venom The Last Dance - an evil moist god sents his woodchippers to save the budget and pay his taxes so he can walk again (not)
Kraven The Hunter - loves animals, hunts bad people (+blood)
Honestly I think Sony's Marvel Universe sounds 100% better then Sony's Spiderman Universe.
