- Welcome back to a new one. Today it’s finally time to do some short haul flying with a long haul aircraft. I’m taking you along as an airline pilot on the Airbus A330 from Frankfurt international airport (EDDF) to Windhoek Namibia on a 5 day trip. Those 5 days aren’t just free time, join me on a continental flight in Africa. It’s going from Windhoek to Victoria Falls, one of Zimbabwe’s most known tourist attraction.
On this episode of “A day in the life of an airline pilot” I take you along the entire rotation. Showcasing 4 take offs and landings as well as some interesting insights about our crew rotation on such long trips.

It’s a company guideline. Flying short haul in between long haul flights is a lot of fun. Absolutely love it 🙌✌️

Really like your videos. Makes me wish I had to money to pursue my pilot dreams as well. Have you made a video on when it's too late to become an airline pilot ? I'm 32 at this moment, properly will be able to afford it in 3 years if I save every penny haha. Just don't want to use all that money to not get hired in the end haha

Great video as always, can I ask why you prefer short hauls? Was it because of the tolls of jet lag etc.?
Main reason is Jetlag and being away all the time. ✌️
I often wonder about this, must be hard on the body, I’m in an opposite position where working from home all the time all I want to do is travel!

Are you briefed/alerted of the possibility that there might be wildlife on the runway at WDH and Vicfalls. I recall seeing a lot in the vicinity when I was there.

Why is the captain who is PNF, holding on to the side stick during T/O and landing?
During takeoff and landing it is standard procedure that both pilots have their hands on the controls ✌️
I’m young and the only thing really making me hesitate to actually pursue that dream is that you can’t really get jacked when you’re a pilot. I don’t wanna be looking like a broomstick

Yes we do hear them and are able to talk to them. I got a lot better over the last 10 years. ✌️
