So glad I was born at a time when these two brilliant humans performed for us , and many more like them.... Really enjoyed seeing them back in the day.
That's a great story! I'm a native of Slieve Gallion, I'm watching with my friend Martin O'Neill, we just how much of a great song this is, at our parish we play this at funerals and it's really touching. Plus we are wrote clean aff!
My Grandma told me about this song as her husband used to sing it to her, and when she was dying I learnt the words, I'm writing the violin music myself. It's the most beautiful song and meant so much to her. My Irish side (Im half Scottish half Irish) all love the song because it means a lot to everyone. It's so stunning and peaceful.
We live at he bottom of Sliabh gCallion - and have its view: day night and noon - this song is played at almost every funeral in the area, and at each wake house - Dolores does a wonderful version of it. :-)
This song and her performance of it never fails to give me the shivers. I always listen to it whenever I need to be reminded that real music still exists out there and people willing to sing it good and pure.
What a voice...What a song....I've got goose-pimples. I found this by accident and I'm glad I did A wonderful ,expertly sung piece of music...THANKS!!!
Ah Delores is magic! Got to drive her around in San Francisco once during the John Falukner times 'twas this tour. She sang the LONELY EXILE such a great song. Such a beautiful singer. Gugh raibh maigh agut did I spell right yet Bb
Magnificent. Words fail to express it...for those atheists out there, a question: Why would we evolve voices like this, if it were solely for simple communication? This is absolutely gorgeous.
Since you asked... You almost got it right. Good try! It should be:- Go raibh maith agut. I agree with you that this a wonderful rendition of this song. Beautiful!
