Hey! Guess what. You're Awesome and thanks for watching. I promise this is the best DND tutorial based on a 30 year old Jeff Foxworthy joke you'll ever see. Stick around for more and vote in the comments for which subclass you'd like to next.
I am so tired. Conquest joke.

Random person: You can't just go conquer a castle, people need that.
Oath of Conquest Paladin: Bold words for someone within conquering distance.
Random person: Wait what?
I am people and I indeed need your castle.
The amount of fear effects you can stack onto this subclass is both hilarious and appropriately terrifying. Playing a gem dragonborn with the Dragon Fear and Knight of the Sword feats allows you to lock down enemies without even having to tap into your spell slots or channel divinity.
The paladin that has to present arguments to say that he's lawful good
Vengeance is pretty not good too, since they made alignment less a part of the system a lot of line blurred, I say Paladin's are Lawful Oath (good is optional)
You just have to believe that your working twords the greater good. I will take this kindom away from the corrupt ruleing class and turn it into a land of peace and prosparity. Then its just about believing that the ends justify the means. Think Griffith from Berserk.
Counter Argument: "So the guy I am trying to conquer for my church is the big bad evil guy of this setting... How am I not the good guy?"
In character: "My God has sent me on a righteous crusade to liberate the people from Tryrax grasp. It will be a long and harsh journey. I am but the vanguard and first scout, tasked to learn of ways for my brethren to take the fight directly to Tryrax halls and dethrone him. Though it cowardly, I needth allies still, I fear. If you all have the same goal as I, my hammer and faith are with you. We shall find our way into the bastads throne room, topple his evil and corruption so all may be free again."
@RavenCloak13 i prefer my paladins godslayers
And what a better godslayer than one of conquest
@@Helldragon789 I would prefer an oath of godslaying. Its not about conquest, its about striking down that which stand above you.
Thine be the glory = Oath of Glory
Risen, conquering Son = Oath of Conquest
Endless is the victory = Oath of Vengeance
Thou o'er death hast won = Oath of Redemption
Walk in shadow, move in silence

Well.
Now I have to use Command, summon up my absolute most villainous, smug, menacing voice with a wicked grin to match, and say:
“Kneel.”
that's exactly what I was thinking with this subclass
I tried that once. My party then proceeded to die several times in the span of a single battle.
Kinky
This is the class I would play if I was going for a Wheel of Time “Dragon Reborn” vibe. Could be so fun to play a character who sees the discord in his world between competing kingdoms and decides to solve that by making them all the same kingdom. His!
I do really like the idea of starting out as a Fighter, a common soldier or mercenary basically, then at a certain point just straight up converting to a Conquest Paladin. Not multiclassing, but exchanging your Fighter levels for Paladin levels either by your own decision or by outside influence.
This kind if thing is why I still to this day like prestige classes as a concept. In practice, questionable. The idea of becoming something more specific just tickles good.
However in the case of class to class there are many ways a full switch makes perfect sense. A martial taking an oath would naturally become a paladin. Any martial could do this but especially fighters. Likewise going from fighter to any other martial can make sense. Get angry? Barbarian. Spend too much time in the forest? Ranger.
Some classes don't work but the martials almost all do. Any martial also feels like it could switch to a blade warlock. The casters are the questionable ones.
Not just Hexblade, Undead Warlock as well. Because Form of Dread wants to know that yes you are in fact in Aura range.
Also doesn't form of dread work off proficiency? Yeah because nothing screams going full scarecrow build like pulling that nonsense. And now for the most screwed up reason I have a way to build Fiddlesticks. Well shit.
@darkvizardking69 well, now you're obligated to do it.
At that point you're basically a better revenant
@@kalamander8563 you joke but I already have a reason for it, a warforged possessed by a spirit that longs for causing fear, dressing itself up as a scarecrow to add to the act.
@@darkvizardking69 hell yeah. I just started mine in my brother's Forgotten Realms campaign. He's a former Calimport soldier who was discharged after killing his incompetent commanding officer during a campaign and taking over. He eventually became a disciple of Bane and has vowed to take Calimport for himself and 'trim the fat' as he polity puts it.
He's basically Darius from League of Legends with a Form of Dread based on the Skull Knight from Berserk, but I love him.
I was hopelessly searching for a way to multiclass Sorcerer/Barbarian because i wanted "Intimidating Presence" so badly for my character but you helped me find the Conquering Presence which is essentially better version of it and even allows me to Go Paladin/Sorcerer
The caster barbarian is a dream long yearned for. Forbidden fruit is sweetest after all. Glad you found s paladin that works instead.
A conquest paladin can easily be made the good guy. Give your character a backstory similar to Percy's from Vox machina. They stole his land and home and now he's coming to claim it back
isn't its more a Vengeance oath or smth?
I don't think an conquest paladin would fit that bill, more of an oath of vengeance because for a paladin oath the mindset is a big part of it. I mean just look at the conquest tenets:
Douse the Flame of Hope. It is not enough to merely defeat an enemy in battle. Your victory must be so overwhelming that your enemies’ will to fight is shattered forever. A blade can end a life. Fear can end an empire.
Rule with an Iron Fist. Once you have conquered, tolerate no dissent. Your word is law. Those who obey it shall be favored. Those who defy it shall be punished as an example to all who might follow.
Strength Above All. You shall rule until a stronger one arises. Then you must grow mightier and meet the challenge, or fall to your own ruin.
You don't even need a tragic backstory to make them the good guy, just make your motivation to abolish feudalism.
That is more vengance. Read the conquest tenets. They are ruthless warmongers and tyrants.
Or the same as Daenerys Targaryen, but you stop before burning the villagers
"if you see a castle and immediately start salivating" bro you're too hilarious
*roll a nat20 on the Charisma check*
"Attention entire World, hear my proclamation! I am Lelouch Vi Britannia, Emperor of the Holy Britannian Empire and your only ruler. You know, a Conquest Paladin doesn't have to be anywhere near the evil alignment. Just look at Prince Alain of Cornia (Unicorn Overlord): as a child, he had to flee after his mother, Queen Irenia, was killed by a traitorous general who then proceeded to conquer the continent of Fevereth and establish the Zenoiran Empire. Ten years later, he returns, leading the Cornian Liberation Army to liberate the five kingdoms of Fevereth and restore the rightful rulers to their thrones!
1:00 love the use of the Illrigger art here. Definitely not a Paladin or anti Paladin and absolutely worth looking into if you’re wanting to play a Knight of the Hells
They recently reworked it and it is so freaking good now too
I can't believe that when I suggested this the other day that it would actually get made! Love your videos and keep CONQUERING the Algorithm!

Conquest Paladin is one of my favorites the only multiclass I recommend is 2 levels of undead warlock so all of your attacks can inflict fear.
Love the addition of Pinky and the Brain! Here’s hoping for Trickery Cleric in the pole 🤞
Douse the Flame of Hope.
Rule with an Iron Fist

Day 1 on asking Oath of redemption
I was looking for this last night and I was so sad that there wasn’t a video… let’s gooooooooooo!!!
I love that you use Batman in the intro. He is both a Conquest Paladin, Vengeance Paladin, Rogue Thief, Monk Open Hand, Ranger Hunter, and Battlemaster Fighter rolled into one!
Don’t forget Mastermind
00:24 I've always liked 'First Citizen.' Has a nice ring to it.
Also, perfect timing. I'm just starting a Conquest Paladin in my brother's campaign. Im going to take a double dip in undead warlock for form of dread and some invocations. Im basing my caracter on Skull Knight from Berserk.
@ 1:15 that kinda reminds me of George Cosatanza from Sienfeld: "Remember Jerry, it's not a lie if you *believe* it!"
So, I built a lawful good/ neutral varient on this that was a pretty good RP moment. He was a Silver Dragonborn who had their absolute need to smote evil on sight, tempered by a mindful awareness of laws and common sense. It evolved into a weird dichotomy with our more neutral good ranger where between us & the three rogues in the party evading some variation of justice was nigh impossible.
It was neat to bend the class into a form of justice no one wants to cross without being some sort of villain lite character.
This subclass is amazing. Do yourself a favour and take a Hexblade level 1 dip. You’ll be so much better for it. Really works well with Dragonborn and aasimar, as they can get charisma based fear effects on their own.
my dm let me switch my oath so my paladin started as a normal oath of devotion basic "protect the people" paladin but after some traumatic events he realised the only way to protect the people is to annihilate any threat towards them
A conquest paladin I made (kinda power gamey, but I made sure to tell my dm what I was trying and planning to do so that he wouldn't have any surprises).
Fallen aasimar,
Because strength and charisma plus the racial scare everything near you ability.
Took the blind fighting feature, because I do love having an extra 10 ft of blind sight so my enemies cannot hide from me in magical darkness,
Took the sentinel feat at lv 4 because you aren't running from me.
And then took 2 pole arm weapons (one piercing one slashing).
Gameplan: run into the entire group of enemies, fear everyone, wait for them to all run away and have on poor sod stuck at 10 ft away from me where I can get a free attack next turn.
Add in our wizard throwing darkness on me and you have a truly fearfull presence on the battlefield.
Best part? I tried to talk and intimidate my way through everything. Because why fight if I can just talk my way into anything I want or need, making fighting a last resort (that I was really good at).
My Conquest Paladin came to me when I was just about to give up on Paladins all together. I had been under the impression that Paladins were always the good guys and just shining beacons of light...Which was fine but so damn boring. Then my friend introduced me to the sub-classes and the most violent but darkly noble one: The Oath of Conquest. Hence came Norga the Benevolent. He began as a simple Orc who after witnessing the big bad razing his village didn't take it personally but instead began to do research into how to become a better war chief and first did this by going to a nameless shrine rumored to be a God of War who had lost their name in a bet with a Fey trickster.
he would go on to join a band of heroes and while everyone was spending their time trying to convince your Denethor-type corrupt king to fight the Dakrlord Zlashaak he got a better idea from his patron: take over the kingdom in a bloody coupe and then set about making the Kingdom of Solrune into a real Empire. He then wiped the army into shape and got the party the numbers they needed to finally behead the vile monster and also added those lands to his domain. He was the first character I got to cross off as 'died remarkably in peaceful state knowing he had forced an Empire'. Very strange to see a character die of old age. I miss him and think about reincarnating him to deal with what his delinquent daughter and fop of a son have done to his Empire but it was just such a good ending.
Really seems like the lines blurred when alignment became less relevant and Paladins are now Lawful Oath (good is optional) so they are more cause focused rather than pure of heart, I believe there were a lot of people who played them that way anyway but its has become more cannon.
Things shouldn't be locked so much to a specific alignment or anything like that. They should be tied to an idea. Like a pact in the warlocks case. A higher power in the clerics. Natural magic for the sorcerer etc. For the paladin thats the oath. No need to specify beyond that when the oath does everything you need. Gods and alignment can all be put into the oath.
Warlocks often have this issue like paladins where people focus on a specific interpretation of what they are. Paladins are good and warlocks have shit contracts that make them a demons bitch. In reality paladins can make oaths to serve demons and warlocks can make pacts requiring them to save the innocent and fight the forces of darkness.
Yet another banger ymba! Hope one day you can get a full night’s sleep.
Griffith from berserk would %1000 be a conquest paladin. Charisma? Kingly ambitions?
Instilling fear?
Not that I would ever actuality use this because who in their right mind wants to roleplay him
So the funny thing is this is more Guts then Griffith.
People fear Guts being a giant dude with an even more massive weapon and you can reflavor Stoneskin as Beserker Armor with a multiclass in a Barbarian of your choice for more resistance and to keep charging through everything made of evil and demonic.
Besides that, I am now reminder of one of those DnD Greentext stories of an NPC who wasnt evil at all but just took on the aesthetics while trying to take command of all the evil races and find a way for them to live in harmony with the good alligned ones. Turning the party into evil looking but still completely good people. The whole campaign after the party met him just turned into a massive conquering kingdoms, tribes and nations campagin with the end result being one became the NPC's queen, another his dark magic witch, a shadow teleporting assassin and a soul devouring weapon knight.
Again, still all good because everyone they actually fought were evil and... Well you could just change weapons.
The you have the fact that fear can also be used as pacifict tactics.
What's more merciful? Making your target fear you or outright killing it without even a chance to talk it down?
To kill and slaughter everything or to make them bend and change their ways?
Conquest pally isn’t just a moustache twirling villain though. You can also play it as a sort of sympathetic-yet-misguided evil kind of character. For example, my conquest pally chose that path because his wife was lynched by his neighbors after being falsely accused of witchcraft just for being a Tiefling. He wanted to overthrow the theocratic regime in his country so he could stomp out the kind of bigotry and superstition that led to his wife’s murder, and he started by slaughtering all the villagers in his hometown.
You can be straight up "good" by just trying to unite the world. Stopping war by taking control of everything yourself so you can manage it with your fancy wizard friends.
I am obsessed with the conquest paladin hex blade multiclass
We need s couple more paladins that aren't about doing good. We especially need an Oath of Self. You know the oath of being better than everyone else.
These have go to be the best slideshows I've ever seenj
I will never get tired of these videos
Honestly, while I get that Conquest Paladins are 'supposed' to lean closer to the evil end of the spectrum, I've enjoyed the challenge of coming up with someone who is deeply, almost fanatically devoted to crushing evil and chaos, but is still only neutral good at worst. A knight in shining armor who inspires hope within their allies and utter dread within their foes.
Just started our session 0 today for my first game and i decided on paladin cause i used to play 40k and grey knights were my army. The conquest is basically a grey knight i see now so now im even more excited 😂❤
Mixed this with College of Whispers Bard for even more Smite and more fear effects.
Always excited for a new video
Conquest paladin is the physical form of the phrase "why do I hear boss music?"
BRB gonna go beg my DM to make a Conquest Paladin Boss Fight because that will be Fucking Terrifying and SO satisfying if we win
I want to play a kobold noble, that wants to conquer the world with his three retainers Moe, Curly and Larry, only to find out that nobody is taking them seriously. But he will make them to...
Cast Command
World Blacks Out
*"FALL"*
I've been stuck DMing, but when I get to play one day, my plan is to play a dragonborn conquest Paladin. The whole concept is that he has heard of war lords, but he wants to be the lord of war. His traveling companions he will see as his lieutenants and sergeants, faithful allies to reward and trust, while enemy are oppurtunitiesbto spread tales of his brutality and lack of mercy to those who oppose him.
Oath of Conquest could easily be used for a Judge Dredd or Robocop style character, or just as easily for a Vigilante-style knight who's done playing by the rules made by the corrupt.
"You jerks ain't the law. I AM THE LAW!"
"You won't escape your punishment, in this life or the next."
"You won't use my conscience against me. I'm out of mercy."
"You will serve as an example for those who think they can take your place. A terrifying example. "
Great video ymba. Btw when will you make a video about the rogue phantom?

11:15 two words. Undead Warlock.
Undead warlock is a very strong dip for this due to form of dread. Obviously the other warlock stuff is great on paladin too, but everyone already knows that
"What you don't understand is: this world isn't *yours* to conquer."
Need to see your take on Horizen Walker Ranger
i would love to see a video for swarm keeper or fey wanderer and for sure wizard of scribes.
Oath of Conquest paladin that is a dominatrix and views conquests in battle and conquests in bed as equally valid. Spends any time not adventuring at the local tavern looking for her next "conquest" 😏... also wields a whip cause thematic.
Fun fact:
If you cast Armor of Aghatys while you have your steed summoned, the spell affects also the steed

This is a great subclass.
I devised a Conquest Paladin Warforged build that, given the right magic items can get 29 - 34 AC on his own or 33 - 38 AC with some support from other players. And also imposes disadvantage on all attacks against him. And terrifies all around him.
He is an untouchable powerhouse and I am waiting for an opportunity to actually play him.
Oath of redemption paladin please :)
My fav oath
Ye's next album will be called SMITE!
Allie Allie....isn't that just a another term for shield? 😂
conquest paladins can easily be turned to good. an oath of conquest to retake lands stolen from you or another, or to topple a tyrant king. but it is oh so fun to play an evil knight of conquest...
Time to be Sauron and SMITE the living hell out of enemies!😆😆
Blessed by the literal gods of war and your capstone is you are resistant to mortal weaponry like war in a fantasy world has jack to do with the fantasy elements.
or
Believe in your ability to Conquer so hard that you get what the blessed boys do earlier and resist anything that would try to harm you as a capstone.
Do redemption paladin too
You say "Allie"
I say potentially future kill squad until they have failed me for the last time
You know Griffith from Berserk would be a great paladin.
Dominate beast on an elephant and now you’re Hannibal
Not to be TOO edge lordy, but I think playing this as a reborn or dhampir would be interesting.
Honestly, I see the Conquest Paladin as less a conqueror and more a breaker. The final weapon when things have gone too far. THE Black Knight. Why are you adventuring? Because there's chaos and evil in the world. Nothing in your Oath explicitly demands you take charge of the party, they're your allies, even if they have the ability to be compassionate or forgiving, that's fine, that's what you fight FOR them to be able to do.
College of swords bard next?
I need this 😂 I love this class
Yessss!!! Finally!
Perfect for lawful evil.
Best Paladin other than vengeance and oathbreaker
How many you really should do A ranger swarm keeper.
There's a huge problem with this subclass. A lot of high level enemies are immune to fear effects or have stats to make the save worthless.
I played in a game with this being an issue. I didn't know that most enemies we'd face would be immune to fear. So, in campaigns with those (devils, fiends) in my case, Conquest is not so good... even with that multiclass into warlock to do fear on every hit or something.
Where do I learn this stuff aside from these videos?
Oh baby another SMITE video
oath of conquest is basically Escanor
