    If you find yourself in a large empty commercial space without April Tags/targets, and the purpose of the scan is not marketing (generating floorplans for example), clutter is your friend. Your laptop bag and its contents can be spread out to create nonrepeating features. Junk stuffed in a closet can also be used. It is best to always have April Tags (and tape) with you, but in a pinch tactfully arranging unique clutter can save the day. It isn't pretty, but it gets the job done. Conversely, a huge warehouse full of random junk is rarely a challenge from an alignment perspective. However, finding a place to set up the tripod can be challenging in that environment.

      Hi, At this time it's not something you can easily do on your own and requires an SDK partner. I would reach out to vrpm.co.uk or maybe mpembed.com since they already have everything set up and ready to go with that service. If it's something you're looking to do a lot, you may want to check out the SDK to see if it makes sense for you to in-house the ability to photoshop the panos.

    What would be better is the ability to select on the Capture app the next anticipated location to help it align.

      Hi Steve. That feature is currently in beta on the Android app and we're working on getting into the iOS app as well. I totally agree, this will be very helpful. That being said, best scanning practices should still be used and increasing scan density is always a good thing.

      @@Matterport At this day, is there any good news for this feature? Time has passed for 7 months 🙂

      @@toutvoir2510 Unfortunately, this re-align feature is still only with Android.

    When I am scanning a large office space, the model starts slanting and doesn’t keep the outer walls straight. Why is that? And would April tags work in a large office space?

    • @Matterport
      @Matterport  Рік тому

      Hi, This is not uncommon and could be caused by too much distance between scan positions. if each scan is not quite perfectly aligned with the last, it adds up and you could end up with a curve or loop closure issue. A. the processing engine will TRY to compensate as the data goes through realignment as it's processing. B. Increasing scan density and scanning every 5ft instead of 8-10ft will help. C. If you don't mind having April tags in your model, yes, they will help too.

      @@Matterport I have been mapping the same property for about a year during a remodel.. and the building keeps changing, it went from a large open space and now it's getting framed in. I'm having a hard time finding much information on this particular situation. Is there anyone to talk to. I'm a current Matterport subscriber and have been for over a year with a pro business account.... Can different sections be stitched together? There's not much information as far as time lapse commercial large construction. Looking to semi-permanently attach April tags to make a time lapse progress going forward..

      @@dustinyv Every milestone stage should be its own model in your Capture app. A key phase to capture would be just before insulation is put in so you can see all the electrical and plumbing. I think you'll find the scans you're creating throughout this project very useful down the road. To your point, however, to piece the models together, you would use Simlab, one of our platform partners. ua-cam.com/video/n8T9ALm5ThE/v-deo.html

    Where is the apriltags in the model?! They should be seen…!

    • @Matterport
      @Matterport  2 роки тому

      You're right, they would be seen in the model. In those examples at the beginning, April tags were not used, which did make alignment more challenging and required higher scan density.

    In all of your videos you say, "I've provided a link to (insert information here) in the description." You never provide a link to the specific thing in the description. Who is your media manager? Fire them.

      Hi Todd. If you're referring to the link to more information about the April tags and where you can download them, it seems UA-cam is not identifying the short URL we've provided as a link so you have to copy/paste it. If there is another link we mentioned and didn't provide, please let us know. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
