Probably Tiomkin's best and still a pretty good, if somewhat slow in places movie. I have this and the Billy Bob Thornton remake on dvd, but the original is still the best.

You are absolutely correct, but you gotta admit the calvary charges look REALLY cool.

If the facts and the legend disagree, go with the legend.

While the film was an exciting and thrilling film for a youngster of the late 50s , like me, it was in actuality a propaganda film and not a historical depiction. Becoming a living historian actively involved in the research and reenacting of Texas Revolution events later in life, the excitement of my childhood years give way to the pain this movie evokes in not telling the true story. That being said, I also understand it was never intended to be a history lesson but a backdrop to display Wayne's political views.

Glory to the Mexican 🇲🇽 heroes of the Alamo, the heroic soldiers who defended the homeland, and the integrity of the Mexican territory.
They killed those opportunistic US-American pirates, who balkanized the Mexican province of Texas.
