@allan339if you think it's farmers ripping anyone off you're a fool. Farmers don't set the price of beef, and make very small profit, the prices are governed by supermarket and their the ones who make the profits

"which was met with industry-wide support" because the industry understands they pay nothing, it's the consumers that pay. As always, the poor can starve, the middle class can pay and be quiet and the rich reap the benefits by funding and selling alternatives.
What would be hilarious is if Danish consumers start turning to alternative beef imports and abandon their own domestic meat market as a result due to it being even more expensive than imported goods, which should never be the case, but becomes a possibility due to ridiculous taxes like this.
I expect a lot of trips to Germany to stock up on beef, i expect the Danish beef industry to be decimated and Denmark to become fully reliant on Germany for it's food requirements

@@robertskolimowski7049 well I am a farmer and can tell you that in an industry that is constantly vilified and walked over nobody is happily going to pay extra money when profits are so low
We're dairy farmers in Ireland and the current price we get is €0.49 per litre, which is then sold by supermarkets at 3 times that price. So you have to pay for the feed, the electricity, the medicine, the winter silage and the diesel involved in milking a herd of cows only to get a third of the price of the product. With all the costs you're lucky if you make it month to month with any profits to speak of.
And €0.49 is a very good price all things considered. It was around €0.37 last year (but the price in supermarkets never dropped)
I know beef farmers have it worse (as we just left the beef industry and got back into milk in December)
Then they want to slap a charge like that on farmers. It's just another attempt to punish people who are never protected
As for the farmers in the video. I'm sure its quite easy to find a bunch of people willing to say whatever you want them to in front of a camera
