Dittophobia not only helps us understand what the nightmares are, and even with most of its continuity. Only thing, is that Nightmare Fredbear isn’t mentioned in the book, which is odd. Fredbear and Nightmare are the only 2 characters that appear in every spot where the others are. We hear descriptions of all the other characters, even the “creepy rabbit” in the bedroom, which is probably plushtrap, but Nightmare Fredbear isn’t present. It’s an odd choice, but it can’t be a coincidence?
It was a pretty interesting choice for them to not be included but then again- this was in the mind of another character rather than Evan/Crying Child. HE has a connection to Fredbear because of his plush and how he grew up in that timeframe, he was the main test subject for something so much bigger. It's pretty odd how those two not be included in the story, but thats really the only conclusion that I can draw.

IMO the nightmares are symbolic of "precognitive dreams" (dreams of the future) now in a world of haunted animatronics and a Bri'ish Zombie in a lethal fursuit; it's not too far fetched to believe the crying child had a reoccurring precognitive dream of his own death that William brushed off as a silly nightmare like any normal parent would. And it makes total sense the first few nights are just the iconic quartet from the first game. (Michael and his friends) the 5th night goes normally and then switches to fredbear (they kids led the child to fredbear) then nightmare mode gives us a black fredbear (the child died) the nights we play in the game are nothing more than symbolism for a reoccurring dream that he was told was a "Nightmare"
thats a nice theory and all but Dittophobia literally takes place in the fnaf 4 bedroom and flat-out says the main 4 nightmares are basic costumes, which become the 'nightmares' when hallucination gas is used as for fredbear, its likely he is an actual nightmare as guilt/memory of the bite

I made my own fnaf animatronics they are in three types but last two types have only on character 1st type: the prototypes(Freddy, bonnie, chica and foxy) 2nd type: powerful ones (dr golden freddy) Last/3rd type: demonic ones (shadow demon)
I like how that they aren’t Non-scary Animatronics filled to the brim with teeth, it’s like they are actually costumes. Something that makes sense in the 80’s

If I were doing this I'd base it on the glitchtrap costume but you version still looks great so don't think that I'm saying it's wrong because all of us has different opinions on some things and that's just my opinion so take this as you want and please do have a lovely day / night depending on where you are now
