Agreed! This is one of my favorite country songs EVER! If you love endings like this one, listen to Tulsa Queen by Emmylou Harris, best train song EVER, with the long, slow, fade into the distance, lonely, wistful, steel guitar ending.
True Story! I was Music Director at KBTO radio in Bottineau, ND when this song and “The Bed You Made for Me” were released. “Just Say Yes” was the B-side song of the 45s we got. But each 45 was reverse-labeled! Out of the 3 45s we only noted 2 of them as “Reverse Labeled”. I was gone that first weekend after receiving the 45s, at an industry meeting. When I got back, I learned our weekend part-time DJ had been playing this song instead of “Bed”. But by then, all of northern North Dakota clear up to Regina, Saskatchewan were hooked on both songs! Despite Warner Brothers Nashville reps telling us to stop playing “Yes”, the station’s audience spoke elsewise; so we got permission for playing both songs in our rotation. The manager of Highway 101 sent our station a large autographed copy of Paulette and the boys, which hung on the station’s studio wall for three years…that’s when I moved onto my next radio gig.
Love Paulette Carlson and Highway 101.This was the first song I heard by them. Its still one their Best.Glad Paulette still sings.Shes fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely! Id blast my radio as loud as i could when i was a young girl and sing it word for word this was the b est they dont make songs like this anymore! Do you ya love me just say yes!!! The best dancing music!
I remember this so well and Highway 101 i was raised on country music and i turn up my boom box as loud as it would go and sing do you love me just say yes come on its in the tip of your tounge so easily done such a small request oh babe you got something to say dont keep me waiting dont make me guess
I agree 1,000% about the instrumentals!!! One of my all time favorite songs by Highway 101 --actually one of my all time favorites to sing and dance to! Also love "Cry, Cry, Cry" by them!! 💝
Was so much fun to see them sing this Live ! What a great performance they put on. Thanks for putting this up, brought back one hell of a fun night ! Regards, Gypsy
Love to listen to all classic hits songs on radio stations and my cds. Thank You my favorite song two thumbs up my favorite Band. Still have on cassette tape.
All this talk and no mention of Cactus Dozier? Awesome drums. Moving country music forward! Had the pleasure of playing this one in a garage band once. Tremendous fun.
ACC's #31 song of '88. Wish Paulette would go on back to Highway 101. She FOUNDED the group! God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed Easter, sterrshine!
Yes country was once the best, but im ashamed of what they call country music today. What the hell happened to country music. Now its just crap crock pot music. And i hate todays country. Theres VERY FEW today thst would be classified as country.
I actually saw hwy101 perform this song (and all the other big hits)live in concert it was a high light for me,Paulette danced around the stage when her vocal part was over it was great I had a front row seat so I could see them sorta close up ):0)
Pauletette's vocals are spot on as usual and the band really gets down with this track. It's too bad that they broke up when they did. I believe they could have gone on to even greater things had they not broke up. I know that there are a bunch of folks out there who blame Paulette for the band breaking up. I have even heard that she was just down right rude and matter of fact with t he band when she got on one of her temper tantrums. I don't want to believe all of that. Miss you Highway 101.
To surface in memory from all the songs from 25 years ago, this must be good. It is much better than I remembered. A 'must add' to the Country Songs I can sing.
Wow, I can see myself two-stepping to this with Joy, from Gulfport, Mississippi, at The Yellow Rose in Citrus Heights, Northern California, back in the day.
This song by Highway 101 Do You Love Me Just Say Yes was was kind of accidentally Inspired when Nancy Reagan was just say no to the illegal drugs and then Highway 101 came up with the song Do you Love Me Just say Yes.Which is also one of my favorite songs done by Highway 101.
Hwy 101 were all session guys, apart from Paulette, as you can tell by their awesome sounds. Prime example of the west coast sounds. Nashville could never meet their standards. mosrite60
I think this song means . He don't know if he's ready to take plung just yet . She wants to know if he loves her or not . She don't want to be waiting on something that might not come . So she can make plans with him or somebody else . She wants to be loved by him . Do You Love Me ? Just Say Yes .
I believe this recorded after the "Reunion"...doesn't sound that pedal steel guy Tommy Spurlock was included. but I may be wrong. Paulette, well what a singer. Too bad she is retired. HWY101 would still be very popular in 2016. That bull crap new country cannot touch. mos60
Most underrated country band EVER- That steel ending is EPIC to say the least......
Just heard it on the radio and the DJ let it play through. Killer!
Oh absolutely!!!
It's some of the best ever.....
Agreed! This is one of my favorite country songs EVER! If you love endings like this one, listen to Tulsa Queen by Emmylou Harris, best train song EVER, with the long, slow, fade into the distance, lonely, wistful, steel guitar ending.

We call her the 'country Stevie Nicks.' Dynamite voice!
The best country band of the 80's. I danced a mile to their music.
True Story! I was Music Director at KBTO radio in Bottineau, ND when this song and “The Bed You Made for Me” were released. “Just Say Yes” was the B-side song of the 45s we got. ACC's #31 song of the '88 survey year. They hit #1 in Billboard, 9-10-88. God bless you, sterr, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed weekend!
That instrumental outro could just go on forever if it were up to me. A perfect song from beginning to end ... the end just comes too soon.
I agree 1,000% about the instrumentals!!! One of my all time favorite songs by Highway 101 --actually one of my all time favorites to sing and dance to! Also love "Cry, Cry, Cry" by them!! 💝
