The first question is: “how does volleyball stop you with this formation?”. Volley is static, so it’s hard to defend against this many runners. Especially 352 volley will have problems because there are three defenders and 6 players running to the backline or in the box. Then the second question: how do you defend? By capturing the ball before the cross is given. Firstly by selecting the attackers and let the chase down the midfield. Because 352 is static and one touch, you always know that it takes time to build up and where the ball is going. So letting your attacker defend helps creating less space to defend. You’ll catch the ball a lot before it goes to the wing. And you also know when the ball will go to the wing; that’s when you select the wing defender. If the ball isn’t given perfectly (which is hard even for volleyballers), you’ll tackle the ball most of the times. Other than that: make sure you score all your attacks. That’s always the best advice. Focus on keeping possession until you have a clear chance to score. My setups are well balanced in attack, it hardly happens you don’t have a good passing option. Trick is to recognise them and that takes practice.
