The original of this song was from 1983 by the band i-Ten. Heart covered it in 1987 and turned it into a power ballad.

No. Joost has had nothing to do with her solo album. By her own admission, the songs they'd written with Joost were not mainstream enough, so she ditched whatever collaboration they had in favour of Gordon Groothedde, a pop producer.

She has a beautiful and strong voice noticed by the distance from the mic, her voice is so emotional.
Floor has an amazing ability to convey emotion with her singing.

Anytime Floor sings, I want to be listening, and I don't care what it is. She sang a few lullabies for us that she sings to her daughter Freja, and I was in tears. I am a rough tough macho guy, but she cuts straight through to the heart.

This is a Masterpiece! As a 80's teen this is like "Manna" from Heaven. I know the original is from l-10 1983, but the Heart's cover was a huge hit. Our Floor did there at her come studio a intelligently subdued version with only backing of the grand piano provided her long time friend and collaborator, SIR Joost vsn den Broek (After Forever, Ayreon). Excellent stuff! ⛄👍

I think it's fair to say it took Heart to put this song on the radar - it certainly was barely making it prior. We'd never have Floor's cover without Heart's version.

FYI, Floor sang Alone when she was with After Forever also. I think they first did this song in 2007. Luv you guys!!!
Correct. This exact version was recorded for the "Metallic Emotions" CD (2007). A compilation of ballads from different metal bands.
She also did a full metal cover of "Alone" with Christmas Metal Symphony in 2013, which I like the most.

Floor and Ann are both all-time great singers, but I much prefer this arrangement, with the great Joost van den Broek (After Forever, Ayreon, etc.) on piano. It's much more intimate and less poppy. 🤟

Hearts version was a Cover of the original to !!!!! the original is by i-Ten Not by Heart!! Most people haven't even heard the version by I-Ten.

Floor is absolutely incredible in anything she sings but I still prefer Heart. Ann Wilson can't be beaten, every thing she sing is absolutely top notch.
I first was introduced to Floor with Nightwish and what a beautiful job she did with them. She is amazing. But I usually always prefer the original singers. Ann and Nancy Wilson are a power rock and roll duo.

As a fan - just like you 2 - a small advice: keep the video rolling till the very end! Just 2 seconds more and you'd have seen Floor give a resigned nod. Coming out of the singing mode (embedded in the emotion and the storytelling) she seems to think: "That must be it, this should do." To herself, her husband filming an do us! Endearing to me... ❤
Anne is the best but Floor comes brilliantly close and that's almost impossible. So well done Floortje :)
It's interesting how she took 2 "belting" songs, Shallow and Alone, and did them at intimate level, even though we know what she can do.

Apart from this performance that I love, I never understood why people love the I-ten cover by heart, but have to admit that I only have seen the official clip and I’m not American. In that clip the ladies were singing rather emotionless and it seemed they were in a kind of hurry. And then also one of the two starting a 😢mating ritual with the guitar player that looked like a mix between Gary Glitter and Foghorn Leghorn🤡

This song was not written by Heart, The Heart vision is also a cover so people who say they like the original better may not know this, To be honest the original by I-ten is not very good nor popular. Heart is the group that brought this song out of the shadows. I still prefer Hearts version as I grew up on this one but you cannot deny that Floor also made this song her own.

She has a great voice, and I am a fan of her work with Nightwish. However, I really feel that her rendition of this song pales in comparison with Heart’s version. First and foremost, it lacks Nancy’s backing vocals. ✌🏼😎

Really? Tommy's covers are so ProTooled, his real voice is barely recognizable there. Same goes for the instruments: they sound more like effects than real ones.

Don't get me wrong - I think that Floor is the best, and certainly the most versatile female vocalist on the planet.
But the solo stuff she has released in the last couple of years leaves me cold, I just don't think the songs are that great, maybe she's not as great a songwriter as she is a singer.
I understand why she's doing it, she is obviously wants greater fame and fortune, but she has to find better material if she wants to be a successful pop singer.
Hopefully the upcoming Nightwish album can restore her to at least my faith in her as a metal singer - she ought to get back to that.
Floor is perfectly capable of writing good songs when she wants to. She wrote most of the songs in After Forever and all the songs in ReVamp (the lyrics and vocal lines, that is, although she did write some music too). The main problem with her solo project is that it's not hers. The guy behind it is Gordon Groothedde, and that's why it sounds like another generic product of the music industry.
I expect pretty much nothing from the upcoming NW album. Seriously, what kind of singing can we expect from a woman 8 months into her pregnancy? The fact that they didn't bother to change the schedule because of such a "minor" thing shows how little they care.
The NW hiatus could give her time for some more projects but I highly doubt at this point that she would use it to make something actually worthy of her talent. The two things I'd like her to do would be a classical album and an After Forever reunion with a proper DVD recording. But I'm afraid it's but a Fever Dream...
