Who would have thought like five years ago that in 2019 we would be going into the third year in a row with Portugal bringing another amazing song? Like that FdC revamp was a great idea, especially since I liked every single song in the selection this year and seriously in the final 8/8 of those songs would have been my #1 for the year with the other two still in my top 5. Like just with tighter camera angle and a bigger star case we could be going back to Portugal next year and it would be deserved.
Nuno Galopim, who executive produces the show, said in an interview the plan when they revamped the whole show was to build the brand from scratch over a particular time period, heading to a certain musical direction that best reflects current trends in Portuguese music (jazz being among them). He never expected, even back in the first semi of FDC 2017, that "Amar pelos dois" would resonate so well and beyond, and completely give Portugal its first ever victory.
Very interesting. I like this one. I hope this becomes a trend this year with the entries and we have some more originality with performances. So far this entry and Iceland’s are my two stand outs.

I still remember last year how much you tried to get Isaura to do something else and she just took a few pieces of your advice but stuck to dancing around Cláudia Pascoal just because she felt the song was hers and therefore she needed to be closer and around. She never used the monumental bridge that was built by RTP to show up. In the end we know what happened. But Conan Osíris’ son and voice is out of this world. Salvador was good, and I'm in the unpopular opinion that I didn't really enjoy O Jardim, so for Portugal to come up with something like THIS is a huge step forward. It's both their brand and totally off kilter, and I love how almost all are so into Conan and his act. This needs more direction live. This needs to really have a battle plan, cuz I feel Conan is not doing what he can do. But they got THE SONG. And that should cover most bases leading to the contest

You're right, there is same space and time for improvements - but both Tiago and João need to have a certain degree of improvisation freedom, since they never do the same show twice, and that is an important part of their DNA as artists and as persons. This is kind of mix of afro roots (afro community sounds of kuduro, and can be also jamaica dance hall) with mix of arabic, fado, gypsy. We never saw this in Eurovision.

Though I do feel that Juries might not like it, I just don't know why the juries don't like Portugal ( Still not happy they got last last year. ). But I love that some countries are taking risks, especially with Portugal and Iceland.

It's one of those songs that you either love it or hate it, there's no in between. We will just have to see how they both do this on stage.But I think they'll both be in the final just by their different styles. But with other countries still waiting to reveal their artists, these two are the stand outs to me.

Salvador was good, and I'm in the unpopular opinion that I didn't really enjoy O Jardim, so for Portugal to come up with something like THIS is a huge step forward. It's both their brand and totally off kilter, and I love how almost all are so into Conan and his act.
This needs more direction live. This needs to really have a battle plan, cuz I feel Conan is not doing what he can do. But they got THE SONG. And that should cover most bases leading to the contest

Love you Alexia. Amazing react. As portuguese, Conan Osiris was my favorite since the beginning. And i very happy for all hype arround the song by the fans. This is kind of mix of afro roots (afro community sounds of kuduro, and can be also jamaica dance hall) with mix of arabic, fado, gypsy. We never saw this in Eurovision.
I really Love this! Portugal is showing that they can make the diference! Conan is unique, his sounds are amazing and his voice is so good! I do understand that not everyone is ready to embrace new sounds, new styles, but instead of just saying “I don’t like this”, why not giving this a chance? Specially about stop sending all that pop songs that anyone can do and that start to boring... even if some songs are beautiful and have quality, it´s enough! Yes, ESC needs to push over and starts to accept new sonorities, experiences and aesthetics! ESC needs fresh and avant garde musical ideas - as Conan is doing!

I love the new styling (the white pops indeed!), but somehow I think I prefer the choreography from the semifinal.
