Genç yaşına rağmen oldukça donanımlı, çalışkan birine benziyor. Bambaşka dilde yazılmış şarkıları o ülkenin kültürünü de, şarkının sözlerini de inceleyerek analiz etmekte çok başarılı.
This song was forbidden by the government in the 80's in Turkey. They said "it evokes communism to people" And a lot of Cem Karaca song was forbidden at that time.
Cem Karaca is not like other singers, even Barış Manço, his voice is more strong, more sharp. In this song, the point is on the last. You are a worker, stay a worker. You dont have a life, you are just gonna be worker. Girl was cruel because he is just a worker.
Dedim, tabi ingilizce yazarken biraz basitlestirdim.
Hi Luke! I am so glad you discovered this epic song and shared it on your channel. Also you interpreted the story of the song very nicely, but there is something I need to add. You told the boss/master of apprentice mechanic said that "forget the novels idiot, you are a worker, stay a worker, wear your overalls" instead of saying "don't worry, let's drink a beer, are you okay?" It sounds as if the master has no sympathy for the apprentice. As if the master was a cruel person too. But this is not the fact. Actually, in our culture, master is a some kind of father figure. And here, the master was also a worker, was also from the working class, and probably learned the class difference between him/them and people like the beautiful lady, the hard way. That's why he advises his apprentice, and said "You must forget the novels, you must remember that you are a worker, and you should not build castles in the sky." In that point, we feel not only that the master sympathizes with the apprentice, but also expresses a bitter truth, even shares the apprentice's sadness, disappointment, and consoles him.
I love that you take it seriously. Many youtubers figured out how much Turks love watching reaction videos😀and they just use it without any comment, but you do a research before recording, so I respect and love to watch you.
He was actually trying to emphasize the difference between the elites and the working class, many of his works try to point out the injustice and huge gaps between classes. It's another thing if the women just doesn't like the mechanic, but it's another thing when she doesn't want him BECAUSE he's a mechanic.
@@KingdomOfLuke Arconath Resonath has a point. Cem Karaca is one of the biggest communist/socialist singer in Turkey, and he shows his ideology in every song. When I heard Cem Karaca's voice I nearly cried. I miss him so much. I was lucky because of listening him live in Antalya a little time before he died. We love Cem Karaca so much in Turkey. You understand him and his song's feelings...we love you too, thank you. Most of his songs' stories are cruel and dramatic also.
In order to fully understand the song, it is necessary to know the Turkey of the 70s. This song, with its last sentence, became the symbol of workers' actions at that time. Of course, 50 years later, it just seems like a dramatic story. Thanks a lot for the video. you are great
Btw "worker" here is more like laborer, just wanted to add. I've never thought I would laugh at this song but when I watched the video I laughed as well lol

People like Cem Karaca, Barış Manço and Erkin Koray are one the best psychedelic Turkish rock artists to have ever lived. Btw. Erkin Koray is still alive. Turkish music is heavy and hits hard.
As you said, it is not just a song, it is a life lesson, but the message is actually beyond 'don't fall in love at first sight'. Cem Karaca at the time was a socialist and he was pointing to the suffering of the workers, the treatment they get, gap between classes, and the destiny they were doomed to live. They were explicitly told that they were workers and supposed to remain workers. Being with a lady from an upper class (having a better life) was not possible and workers were better of forgetting such dreams. And Cem Karaca pointed out to this message with touching melody and a story.
