I'm from Delhi and I an fluent in Punjabi. I listened to Dogri and first time and damn I understoof 99% of all the things! At times I even felt they were speaking Punjabi, both Dogri and Punjabi are really simillar. Love to Dogras and the people of Jammu ❤

I m from Ak and I speak Mirpur Pahari, to me the person speaking Dogri is almost the same as my my language. I also understand the interviewer but her language has slight differences and sounds a bit like Pothwari which is also spoken in AK Mirpur. I think ours and these languages are Punjabi based, Punjabi language changes dialect every 20 km and Punjabi does not have a standard dialect. The person speaking in Amritsar, Lahore, KPK Hindko, Multan Saraiki, AK pahari/potwari, JK Pahari, Himachal Una/kangri Pahari, they all speaking a dialect of Punjabi, no one can say that their Punjabi is the original because they are just speaking their own dialect but to me it is all Punjabi.

I am a dogra living in US and I learnt little bit of dogri from my dada dadiji when I used to visit them in Hiranagar in summer vacations. Owing to my parents job I was living most of my time outside Jammu. But now I am trying to learn about my culture and know my roots and keep up the tradition so that I know and I can teach my kids when I have them. Regards, keep up the good work.

My mother tongue is Potohari but I do not speak it fluently. However, I can understand >95% of the Dogri spoken in this video. It is easier for me to understand than most popular Punjabi dialect of Mahji. Very interesting.
@WITHOUT. 6.1M views Not sure about that. I think Doaba is further from Potohar than Mahja region. Potohar is on the northeast side of Punjab in Pakistan between Indus and Jhelum rivers, while Doaba region is in eastern region of Indian Punjab, between Beas and Sutlej rvers. So Mahja is in between Potohar and Doabi. Similiarity between Potohari and Dogri is probably due to common influence from "Pahari" speaking areas of Jammu & Kashmir. Potohari probably leans more to Mahji and Dogri towards Doabi because of the geography.
Because you are Punjabi, Dogri and Punjabi are sister langauges and share heavy resemblence and at one point Dogri was considered a dialect of Punjabi.

Punjab is very modern word which is given by Persians ..earlier it was known as dugarta(land between 2 rivers) chenab and ravi and trigarta(land between 3 rivers)jhelum sultlej beas. Dugarta to duggar bneya duggar to dogra which is today jammu and trigarta is today's himachal and punjab....so dogri is an ancient word and language amir khusaro has mentioned dogri in 11th century and also Alexander has mentioned about brave dogra family living in hills

Yes its a sect of punjabi language even its script was in gurmukhi back in history but recently it changed to devnagri.
