Me too. Better learn as much as we can while we're still here.

A fresh water ocean from the friction of tidal forces melting the ice sounds better then a stagnant dead sea filled with sodium. I like the idea of fresh water bioluminescent fish.

I'm so fascinated by Europa as I'm sure many of you are, just thinking that there may be some weird looking creatures swimming around just really amazes me, probably bigger creatures than what can even imagine, perhaps dwarfing megladon?

Instead of melting into the ice, might it be easier to spot a hole and jump in?

It took more than 20 years to drill a hole to the Vostok lake here on Earth, a lake under 2 miles or so of ice (suspected to harbor life who evolved independently of the rest for millions of years.)
So we really need to perfect our technology to make such a mission.

I'm studying industrial design engineering, and read pretty often scientific treatises. What do YOU do for science?

I'm sad right now, there isn't any amazing thought-shattering discoveries in my age. I'm afraid that there won't be any new awesome discoveries before I die, and I wasn't even there at the first man on the moon. I'm hoping we'll improve our technology and do something spectacular.

    I just love science

For those shy or suspicious of science, know this: many modern scientists are today's version of explorers who set out to found our American culture on new lands hundreds of years ago. Exploration is our cherished heritage. Learn about science & support it!

I hope that I live long enough to see Europa explored. One of the great things about science is that it's always seeking facts. When the facts don't fit the theory, it's been a good day because we get a chance to learn more and we modify the theory. Science constantly modifies what it "believes" in order to fit the facts. Religion discounts facts in order to preserve what it believes.

I hope I am too. With NASA's budget it's not looking good. In the meantime I hope you've gotten to see Europa Report.

Europa's water is most likely salty from volcanic activities and impurities. It may also be acid.

This seems pretty likely place to harbour a huge underwater world of life.

The one thing I hate about life is when I die, I'll miss all the scientific advances, and explanations of what happens in the universe.

Europa is so amazing, we should put an artificial satellite orbiting it, taking high res. pictures and scanning its interior.

  • @toocoolforu

@Rolletti21 The patterns on the surface of Europa prove that a beneath ocean exist. But nice try.

On Earth, everywhere there is water, there is life, including in deep ocean volcanic vents. So There are reasons to hope it is the case elsewhere. So for you we shouldn't look for life ? This would be the most significant discovery and event of the human kind, and of life as a whole. This is the goal of space exploration, even surpassing the goal of colonies.

Why doubt it? It could be a possible discovery that would redefine our very understanding of life's prowess in surviving. Besides, this reminds me of when people used to claim it impossible to fly. If it not were for that seemingly crazy drive and hope to gain knowledge, to discover, then we would not be the scientifically advance (at least from my perspective) race we are today. I think this pessimism only inhibits our very potential capabilities. :I

why there's always comments against religion in science videos? it's like making comments against fast food in videos about fitness and stuff

@Rolletti21 wow, I don't think they would share it if they weren't sure, plus it seems pretty logical since it happens here on Earth, and gravity is universal, literally. See scientists aren't ashamed to say they don't know unlike cults creating fairy tales stories.

it's bc u have no idea of what a billion Earth-like planets mean. There is no doubt that there is life elsewhere in our galaxy, the only question is when are we going to find it. We look for life because it is essential. You can say what u want about the rareness of life, yet we have discovered every molecule required to start life in the solar system. Imagine if we find life elsewhere in the solar system, it'd mean life is common. So we keep looking while u keep believing ur own made up truth.
